With Oksana growing bigger each day Inna knew she had to let her daughter be on her own. Since the flood she'd had and even harder time leaving her than when she had been tiny. Inna knew that if she didn't let Oksana stand on her own legs and learn her lessons and how to cope with them she would not be the strong woman the mother expected her to be. She had to set a good example for her daughter so that one day she would be the kind of pack member that Inna hoped she would be.
Her duties awaited her and while she knew it would be a few weeks before she would be expected back Inna felt it might take those few weeks to get used to the idea. She'd left Oksana on her own in the den to nap with a gentle kiss to her crown. Then she'd slipped out of the den but stopped after a few steps away and started to turn back. Abruptly she stopped herself, “You have to do this Inna,” she stated firmly to herself.
Getting her paws to move in the direction away from the den was difficult but after a few moments of fighting with herself she managed to get further before stopping once more. The den was out of view but not out of hearing range and there was where she stopped. “Baby steps I suppose will have to do for now,” she said to herself disappointed she hadn't made it father. Inna settled in as she felt that staying away for a time would at least be a step in the right direction.
