Wild Rye Fields I spoke to God today and she said that she's ashamed

She kept her gaze straight ahead, even as he spoke, her gaze narrowing as she tried to pinpoint any hint of sarcasm or bitterness in his voice. The woman let it go though, wanting to remain in light spirits. When he spoke again, the woman’s heart warmed a fraction. She hummed her agreement, voice light in response, “That would be the safest option since it’s just the two of us.” The silver woman inhaled sharply, a coy smile toying on her lips. “The wind is on our side today. This way.” The former Scout set out towards the Fields, paws light against the golden grass of the beautiful terrain. Her mate had done a splendid job of finding their home, it finding a special place in her heart. It took them quite some time, traveling a distance from them home, but eventually the scent of their prey grew stronger. Jessie slowed her pace. From a distance, a herd of deer gathered. She spared a glance to the man by her side. Her jaws parted, “Your pick.” And then she moved forward again, in hopes of getting a closer look at the herd before they made their final decision.

Hunting dem 1/3

To Askan's surprise the silence between them wasn't awkward in the least. He'd always found Jessie more than a little intimidating but by hunting with her he couldn't help but feel as though they were just a little closer, that he understood her a little better. She wasn't as bad as she seemed, a little terse and strict but was that a bad thing? As lead female it was good that she could and was more than willing to hold her own, the last thing they needed was her subordinates trying to walk all over her. Not that it would ever happen, they were good and respected Jessie as they should.

With their noses and their hunting prowess combined it didn't take long for the duo to track down a herd of deer. From their position, beside a rocky outcrop they had a good view of the herd. But better yet they were also hidden and out of view. As Askan had anticipated the does had recently given birth, so the tundra before them was littered with wobbly babies with twiggly legs.

To his relief, rather than being in the thick of the herd the mothers and their babies lingered at the edges, so that they had some room to themselves. It would still be difficult to get in between the mother and her calf, but at least it would be slightly easier.

Scanning the herd, Askan took his time to pick out a target. Only when he was one hundred percent sure did he turn to his hunting partner.

"See that one on the far left? The doe has a slight limp. How about I rush her, get her out of the way and you snatch up the fawn?"

The Tainn was never one to accompany silences with being awkward, especially when work was involved. The pair kept pace together and – for once – Jessie found that she couldn’t complain about the young man Drestig had so valiantly taken under his wing. Askan took his time in evaluating the herd they found, which the Rye Queen still did not mind in the slightest. To her, it showed that he had taste and that he wanted to be careful. This was reasonable since it was only the two of them. When the dark man finally turned towards her, emerald eyes swept over the herd, finally pinning on the doe and fawn he pointed out. Had there been more of them, Jessie would have insisted they gone for the doe, especially since she had an injury but she could settle for the fawn since it was just the two of them. She nodded her head, “Very well, I will wait for your signal.” And then she hurried off to get into a better position so that she would be able to take down said fawn. When she felt as if she were close enough, she settled on her haunches, ready to make her assault whenever the cue was given. This was going to be fun.
