He listened and said very little, pondering all that she had said. Would it really be possible to trust others so blindly and faithfully? How could she accept never ever moving up in any rank and always being in the same muck and mire? Although his pack supposedly promised upward mobility, he had soon learned that those ranks were closed to him, barred by the other's hatred of his awkward goofishness. Her security and faith in herself was alarmingly great. How could she not care what others thought, or if they did pick on her? Her attitude seemed to say that it simply wouldn't ever happen simply because she was confident it wouldn't. If only all of life worked that way.
"He'll just show up. Like magic.", he rolled onto his side and then his back, allowing his legs to dangle up in the air. He pawed at the empty atmosphere with lazy strides, and then ceased, hugging his back legs, and rocking slowly. "I'm sleepy.", he murmured as his body swayed with the momentum. He eyes slid to a close, and in a matter of seconds, he had fallen asleep.It was probably rude to fall asleep in the middle of a conversation, but he had never been one to follow any conventional social norms.
