She was home again. Patrolling the borders to keep herself busy, not knowing what else to do. Her paws moved swiftly, no longer obstructed by the winter snows, yet her gait was not much faster than usual; she felt a lot heavier than she'd gotten used to after her near starvation. Now that the herds were back, and prey everywhere was spawning, food had become much easier to come by, meaning that the skeletal wolfess had finally begun to gain weight, in fact she might have gone a few pounds over what her body mass had been last year; before she left her family.
But she wasn't bothered by the extra kilos, they were a sign of a new life finally starting to take shape; A new me, older, wiser... Why not a little bigger too? New life, yes, spring was the time of new beginnings after all. And it was certainly spring, it had taken its time coming, the harsh winter only reluctantly releasing its grip and allowing the warmth to return to Relic Lore. But now it was here, the sun shining above sprinkled clouds, giving new life to sprouting plants and heating the earth with its golden rays. And spring had come to Hollowheart Keep as well, pups had been born, two, strong children; Evann smiled at the thought, she looked forwards to meeting the youngsters, and hoped to spend a lot of time with them as they grew.
Thinking about her future though raised a lot of questions in the young woman's mind; what would this new life look like. She had been thinking about her meeting with Naia these past few days, the wolf of Cut Rock River who she had become friends with, their planned meeting was getting closer. Yet she hadn't learned much - the subsequent run in with the brutish leader of the River pack having cooled her wishes to reconcile somewhat - but now she was wondering again; she didn't want to see the two packs at war, or even 'just' as sworn enemies... Evann shook her head, pausing to sniff at the scent markings and correct her course along the border, for now all she could do was keep her ears perked, try to find out how everyone felt about the southern pack; Hopefully the temperaments have cooled now...
Yet, even if she succeeded in bettering the terms between the two groups, it still didn't answer her most pressing question; What am I gonna be in this new life? She had ideas: she wouldn't be a push over, she wouldn't let herself be bullied - or anyone else - she wanted to offer something meaningful to her pack... She just, had no idea what or how.
