Nineva Hervok
All welcome!
Dated 10/30 - Partly cloudy & blustery, mid afternoon.
Halloween RE: Nineva, an exceedingly large toad crosses your path.

Nineva didn't always stay within the sanctuary of Grizzly Hollow, despite the wealth of knowledge there was to absorb within its borders. Sometimes she yearned still for something different, and so she wandered outside of it all. Most often when this urge struck her, she brought @Kenelm with her. Occasionally, she chose to depart on her own to enjoy a spot of quiet solitude, to witness without the whispers of another within her ears. This day had brought with it a longing for the latter, and so without accompaniment, Nineva set out to explore Cedarwood Forest.

When she discovered Jasper Rocks, she recognized it instantly as the perfect scenario in which to test and hone her fishing skills. Yet without a teacher, her time spent would not be fully utilized, and she began to wish that she hadn't opted for seclusion. Regardless, she would still attempt all the same, but she swiftly discovered that the feat of fishing was far more difficult than she would have imagined. With her forelimbs thoroughly soaked, she sat shivering at the water's side, staring determinedly within the clear depths of the water as she methodically worked to commit the location of this perfect place to memory so that she could bring with her a talented fisher from Grizzly Hollow to show her the secret.

Yet something stirred within the forest to her back, abruptly disrupting her concentration. Her ears swiveled round to face the sound before her head turned so that her eyes may join them. Fear did not yet poison her system, curiosity instead the most prominent feeling within the young girl as she waited expectantly for whatever lurked beyond the yellowing brush to show itself. For a moment further there was only silence, and she was made to wonder if perhaps she had imagined it. No way, her confidence quickly countered, and this was proven when a large toad emerged from the leafy grasp of a bush to plot onto the soil before her.

A gasp fled her jaws as the brown, bumpy beast was gigantic in comparison to all the other toads she'd ever known. They had all been small enough to cover with her paw, even she was smaller, but this one was a foot wide, its sides bulged and taut with their heaving mass. Rising to her paws, she was apprehensive about approaching only out of fear that it might become startled and try to escape her. However, after each careful step closer, it became more and more obvious that the creature's large size lent to it some kind of confidence, as he seemed thoroughly unperturbed by her presence. If only the guys back home could see this... ! Maybe, just maybe, she could herd it back to them...

Feeding the wolf

To some he probably didn't have any business to be in this area, but he didn't give a damn. No matter what claim was ever upon these woods, he would always feel he had a right to them. Whether he wandered here in hopes of maybe making peace, spying, stumbling on a familiar face, or just losing himself in the woods not even he could decide. No matter, he kept a sharp eye out. The last thing he needed was to be caught unawares, for he rather be the one deciding on company to keep or not.

Except for a few few leaves crumpling now and again, it was rather quiet. The rogue breathed in the  scent of the forest. One for the aroma he loved, and second to check for the inhabitants. He was taking caution to keep away from the Hollow. Why he had an intention to go there, he would do so on his way back to the Ridge and not before. No, he had a different place in mind. Another of happy memories. When it was only Mom,Dad, Trisden, Taima, Calla, Ryvet, and he.

The russet accented man meandered to Jasper Rocks, hoping to find some answers. He didn't make it to far when he  found the trail of a young lady who held his brother's scent. Dark lip twitched, and he coaxed the coarse hairs on his shoulders to remain unaltered. He had no quarrel with her, and had no intention of scaring her. Even if he wasn't exactly fond of sharing this place with anyone. After temporarily gritting his teeth, his muscles relaxed, and he strode closer, spotting her silver coat among the pale colors of the woods. What was she doing? He craned his neck, spying the rather large toad that captured her attention. Amused, as he had been in a similar situation, he called out, "I hope you no intention to eat 'im miss!" Ren dare take a couple steps to the pair, a playful look to his bright stare.

Nineva Hervok

So enthralled was she with the fat creature before her that Nineva was startled by the words that he spoke. She jumped, neck spinning round so that she may see who it was, and if he'd held any other posture, she might have become uncertain and guarded. However, his amiable appearance immediately soothed her nerves, and she threw a toothy little smile right back at him. She was certain that she'd never met the man before, yet there was an immense sense of familiarity about him. He did not carry the Hollow's scent, and yet she felt as though that was where her memory placed him. The vague deja vu was not foreboding, however, and so she was content to let the mystery unravel itself.

She giggled at his suggestion as it registered in her mind, her tail giving a few sweeping wags behind her as she told him, "Noooo."

"Isn't he huge?" she encouraged, gaze falling upon the marvelous creature once more. "I wanted to try and guide him home, so I can show my uncle and the others!" Home. Was that the first time she'd referred to the Hollow as such? It had fallen easily from her tongue yet as she heard it within her own ears, it came across as odd.

Feeding the wolf

The silver, speckled girl was alarmed at first, but swiftly collected herself, surprising him with a smile. There was something about it that made his cheek twitch if he might do it in turn. But, he didn't. She was not his little sister, nor a child he really knew. It could be why he held back, feeling that might make him on the borderline of the freaky stranger who got too close.

With her real answer, a cautious step forward, his russet accented tail tossed back and forth behind him. Golden eyes inspected the creature, finding it was a rather large toad. "Indeed. Wonder what sort of things he's been eating," he replied, his tone carrying an upbeat note to it. Dark brows twitched, and he cast a look back to the Hollow. He knew it was still a bit away, but he knew exactly how to get there."Oi, you're a Hollow wolf?" He queried if it was the neatest thing he had heard. It sorta was, though not a surprise to him. He wondered who this child belonged to. Her eyes were familiar, but he couldn't be sure she belonged to his brother. "I could help ya, if ya want," he offered. At least part of the way, though he wondered if it would be safe to pick the creature up in his mouth.

"Who's this uncle of yours?" He off handily asked why using his foreleg to keep the toad on its way to Hollow rather than the creek. Despite its size it was a quick little bastard, and Ren had to take another step to keep it in line all while giving the young lass another glance.
