Amaryllis felt her throat seize up and any words that may have emerged had it not felt like she had swallowed a mouthful of very sticky honey, along with her tongue sticking to the roof of her mouth. What was wrong with her?! She took a deep breath, trying to clear her mind. She could do this, she had done this.
"my mate...my ex mate...he," She needed a drink herself now, anything to stall the conversation and to gather her strength. The grey wolf quickly turned to the small creek she had lead them to, short sharp breaths escaping her as a small amount of panic tried to overcome her. Why was she having a panic attack now, of all times?! The words had come freely to her, or at least somewhat when explaining to Veho.
But he is a pack-mate, your leader and a friend. her mind hissed at her. He would understand her, surely protect her should anything come about from her past. This wolf, Bella, was a stranger, an ally from another pack yes but still a stranger.
The cool water helped her focus on something, the sharpness and the fresh smell that cool water could only bring. Water dripped from her muzzle as she lifted her head away from the source, her eyes still focused downwards and not looking anywhere near Bella. She thought she had gotten over this, had gotten over all these...attacks that sneaked up on her without a warning! She hated it and wanted them to stay away. She had gotten away from him, fled when she knew there was no way she could stay any longer without risking her life. and she had to live, live and survive if she ever wanted to see her pups again. No longer in danger and somewhere she was safe, where she didn't have to look over her shoulder and didn't have to worry over her next meal.
It had been fine for a short time so why did they still. keep. coming!
In her self induced panic, she hadn't realised she had left Bella alone a few feet away, after freaking out and only speaking a few words that might have made no sense to the other. Or maybe it did.
