Sometimes, @Sven went away and usually the young girl was fine with it. However, on this occasion, the bangs and crashes of her nightmare were realised as her almost colourless eyes shot open. There was something outside the den, and it was large and loud. Batty ears folded against the girl's skull as she tried to cut the sound out with her paws, small heart thundering as she sought out her everything. But he wasn't back yet. What if the monsters had got him? What if he was trapped somewhere and nobody knew where he was?
She had to go find him.
Shakily, the growing girl stood, carefully placing one paw in front of the other as she tip-toed over her sleeping pack mates. Her dark nose quivered as she approached the exit, silver lips and paling cheeks illuminated in the moonlight that washed what little hint of green there might have been clean out of her eyes. She could have been mistaken for her father in this light.
Large shadows passed between the trees, setting dark nose to quivering as she tried to place the beasts. When she realised it was only smelly deer making such a racket, tripping over branches as they moved through the Ridge she could have scolded herself for being a silly little girl. She was still trying to dismiss the dreamed up image of a pale white wolf trampled under hooves and bellowing beasts... but a child's mind was a wild place, and her brother still wasn't home.
With a grimace, she left the den and began to wander towards the southern border. Perhaps she would find him on his way back?
He would come back, wouldn't he?
