It seemed that there was an impossible combination of life perspectives, and every wolf she met had a different one. Her dad tried to assure her that there was nothing wrong with being sad or angry, and the girl nodded. Sure, he was right. Sahalie never begrudged sadness or anger in other wolves, but she tried not to feel it too much herself. It felt better to let things go. She could hold on to the feeling for a few minutes, consider it, live in it--Lord knows she was often frustrated with Alastor and demonstrated it freely--but in the end it felt unhealthy to hold onto it, to dwell too much on it. This was the problem with Naira. It was hard to let go of her frustration and distrust. The only solution was to keep herself from ever thinking of the woman. For now that would just have to be enough.

Without hesitation she stepped closer to her father and felt his warmth surround her. She felt like a cub again, protected by her gargantuan father and his strength. But before long it was time for them to separate again.

And perhaps it would be the last time they ever embraced.
