Serach had told her that Spieden hadn't even wanted leadership, that it had been thrust on her, that there probably would not be a fight, just a discussion. The discussion had left her face torn, still bleeding even now as she moved through the snow.
The way that her body had quivered and hid, the sound of Spieden running off screaming in desperation for her pups still rang in Aponi's ears. It was then that everything had become real, Oak Tree Bend was cracking down the middle and it would be up to herself and Serach to try and put the pieces back together. Spieden would not be staying, her children would not be staying. That was only the beginning she was sure; loyalties ran deep in packs and a change in leadership strained the ties but the way that the Coho had acted had surely set these lines on fire.
Pushing through the snow the mother followed the trail that Kyna had left behind, desperate to find the strawberry blonde. The canyon that had grown in their relationship seemed wider than ever. The long trips the teen had been taking hadn't gone unnoticed but had been uncommented on, but now that others were slipping away like thieves in the night the truth was glaringly obvious. Kyna had somewhere else to go, possibly even someone else to go with.
Picking up her speed she called out once, softly so as to not alarm anyone anymore than this day already had, "Kyna?"
