Chimera "Kasai" Avalon
May 31st; Late Morning; Broken Clouds; 62.6 ° F, 17 ° C.

He should have left when the grumpy uncles had gone off on their own.
He should have left when Sphinx had gone missing.
He should have left when Anwen had stopped meeting him.
He should have left when Dad died...

Chimera had spent so much time clinging to others that he had finally come to a breaking point. By now, he knew better than to keep chasing ghosts. There were always going to be others coming and others going, but all he had ever asked for was something constant. While, his mother and Gale had always been there, usually lurking at the back of his mind, it wasn't the same.

For as long as he could remember, he had always felt different. He was too small, too stocky, too arrogant and haughty. No one understood his frustration of always feeling as if he were on the outside of things.

He had had it.

Heavy (and loud) footsteps brought him from the den to the outskirts of the territory for what seemed to be the very last time. He took a deep breath as he surveyed the Lowlands before him, what little bits of Field extended beyond his mother's most recent territory markers and the creek that would lead him out into the wilderness. He had done this before, when Anwen had been around; he figuratively could do it again. Leave... but this time, for good (or until he finally found a means to come back home).

With a slow and ever-dramatic lift of his paw, he moved forward, wanting nothing more than to leave everything familiar behind.

Adelayde Artemieva

They were the most perfect creatures on the planet as she stared down at the tawny twins, her eyes couldn't keep off them. She didn't know how her and Laike created such perfection, nothing about them could make her sour. Perhaps she was being overly motherly, but Adelayde hadn't left the birthing den except for a few times to drink. It was going on two weeks today since their grand entrance into the world, but she wasn't comfortable to bring them out for the rest of the pack to meet them just yet. Her body was cramping from the tight space of their den and her limps longed for a good stretch.

Planting a soft kiss upon each of their crowns as they both slept after had breakfast, the tawny Artemieva crept quietly out of the den to not disturb the cubs. She wasn't sure where she wanted to take a walk to, but it wasn't going to be very far from the den. Even through they were well within the Rye borders, she couldn't trust that a over confident coyote—even more than the foolishly confident ones they encountered weeks ago—would charge through and hurt her children. Ade had faith that @Laike was close and could keep an eye on the twins while she was out for a moment or two.

Settling on getting a drink first, her paws took her through her memorized paths towards the creek. Quenching her thirst, she lingered casually towards the outskirts, perhaps hoping she could snag a snack from a nearby cache. At least her appetite wasn't as ravenous as it had carrying the twins, but it didn't seem to go away right away. Her mismatched gaze caught to sight of their reclusive Chimera just on the border of the Fields. Oblivious—per her usual with Avalon children—to what was going through the dark child's mind, a smile formed upon her lips as she approached, closing in on his flank.

Hey Kasai!

Chimera "Kasai" Avalon
Chimera had gone no further than two wolf-lengths from the invisible territory boundary when a call sounded out for him. The paw that was suspended in mid-air came down with a thud against the cool, stony earth. His head whipped around to find Adelayde. Immediately, a scowl marred his red-touched crown, furrowing his brows and pursing his lips as to not blatantly show her his clenched teeth. He had been temporarily delayed - again.

"What?" the word carried an edge to it. He was not about ready to let anyone slow him down. The sooner he shook her off, the better. As a full-fledged yearling in his own right, he was much too old to require adult supervision, let alone company. For as long as he could remember, his parents often let him have the run of the Fields, so long as he didn't run off to find trouble (and, apart from those few precious days with Anwen, he never had).

His brilliant gold eyes searched her body and face as if expecting some sort of urgent matter to spill from her lips. His tail fell limp at his heels and her smile was answered with a full, silent frown. He - and The Red Hound from months past - was not accustomed to company, and he was very much certain this was not going to be like the times when he and Neko would play make believe.

He met her with a scowl etched clear and tightly upon his features as he sharply responded to her greeting. Her tawny ears flicked back against her crown momentarily before returning. Perhaps through the years she was used to the Avalon children's reclusive personality, with @Phoenix it was clear Adelayde was never a favorite to the first born. She never really asked why and honestly she didn't want to know, it made her question herself. Was she too much for them—did she try too hard? What was wrong with her that they didn't like her? Now those same thoughts began to creep out from behind the curtains as her mismatched gaze met his narrowed dandelion eyes.

I was just gonna sit out here and enjoy some fresh air. Care to join me? A soft, meek smile crossed her lips then as she let her haunches fall to the earth. Unless you're busy? She questioned, her head shifting to the side slightly. Her tone light and careful as if she was trying to tip toe around potentially upsetting him. The Rye second hadn't spoken to anyone about Drestig's passing, merely because she dare not upset any of them. That was the last thing she wanted to do.

Chimera "Kasai" Avalon
The woman had come out this far for some fresh air. Strange... seeing as there was fresh air all around the Fields, Relic Lore, this world. Chimera fought the urge to snap at her, to tell her to her face that he had no intentions to join her and was actually busy. The wilderness beyond wordlessly beckoned to him, but he stayed in his place, trying to just breath so he could think out a proper response. The Red Hound would never disrespect a lady. Well, only unless she had wronged him, and Adelayde had done nothing wrong.

"Sure," he flatly stated, tearing his eyes from the distant Lowlands. "I mean, I was going to go somewhere, but whatever, I can stay." He tried to maintain his tone, but it wasn't enough; it was all too clear that he was unimpressed and already exasperated with her.

The Rye beta was a little more experienced this time around for the second Avalon litter. Ade may have been oblivious to @Phoenix's obvious attitude when she was young, now a days she had more experience under her belt to handle these teenager situations. Chimera reminded her of Percy in a number of ways beside their looks, both of them at that same fire that threatened to burn anyone that didn't know how to handle it.

Adelayde knew what his sharp tone meant, they were too similar to how Percy's words sounded at time. Though somehow, she just wanted to make sure he knew she was here for him. Ade didn't succeed at doing that with the first Avalon child. Where were you thinking of going? Had an adventure in mind? She was truly interested, her eyes flickering towards him to gage his expression. Tawny ears pressed forward to hear his response if he chose to tell her of his plans.
