Pumpkin Eyes raised a good point. The large creature was clearly capable of forging its own path away from the duo—which meant they would be shit out of luck and have a not-so exciting story to tell the Edge Lords once they returned. They had to make sure the creature stayed on their path … without destroying the forest in the process. But that was certainly easier said than done. A frown tugged at the corners of his mouth, his brows narrowing with determination as he continued his chase. You take one side, he called out to her, his mismatched gaze landing on her peppered frame as he spoke, I’ll take the other. But the horns. Just watch the front—you won’t be as much fun with only one eye! That was a lie—she’d probably be funner. Would certainly be more fun pestering her… We’ll herd it to the shallows! Oh boy, Askan and Reyes were gonna be soooo proud of them.
The plan seemed simple enough. Her companion made the instructions pretty clear and easy to follow. She just had to avoid those large horns and stick to her side of the chase.
Easy peasy.
She moved in a bit closer to the creature, not trying to spook it but trying to herd it just right. Hawthorne really felt like this was a full proof plan that would provide a meal worthwhile. Askan and Reyes were going to be beyond proud of the traveling duo for this kind of work! She just knew it.
Of course, in the process of thinking about all the glory she lost her track on reality. A hoof from the mountain creature came at her fast. She was trying to be smart and dodge it but the hoof still met her shoulder. Almost too easily she stumbled and met the ground. A heavy oof escaping her following a groan. It hurt pretty badly but at least nothing felt broken - except for her ego.
With the plan set in motion Sachiel was confident that they would be able to herd the creature toward the shallows with ease. They had already managed to get it down most of the mountainside—now they just had to work through the forest! As long as they worked together it would be an easy task—they just had to be mindful of the alabaster beast and it’s appendages. His mismatched gaze remained focused on the goat, his oversized paws moving with expert speed down the rugged slope. He could see Pumpkin Eyes moving closer out of the corner of his eye and silently praised her for her herding tactics. They would be in the shallows in no time!
Except, as soon as he pulled his attention away from his greyscale friend, he heard her stumble. The goat had struck her! He fumbled to a stop, his paws skidding over the loose ground as he changed his course, abandoning the large creature as he hurried over to his friend. He’d never forgive himself if she was seriously hurt! He should’ve known better than to chase some big-ass horned creature down the mountain! He lurched to a halt beside her, his bi-coloured eyes wide with concern as they swept over her frame, searching for signs of injury. You okay?!
It took her a moment to get back up on her paws. It was the loud questioning of Plant Boy that stirred her back into action in a sluggish movement. Yeah but I think the mountain creature won. She said with a bit of defeat in her voice. Let's just go home, we can find something else later. The salt and pepper female grumbled as she offered a soft bump with her head to Plant Boy's chest.
She took the lead, slowly but surely. It wouldn't be the fastest trip home but either way she was ready to return to the Edge.
