Enera rolled 13/20 to find Marrah and succeeds (this is a really great back and forth tbh) and a 5/20 to hide. She's bad at this lol
She could hear Marrah counting and wedged herself further back into her cavern, trying to stifle her giggling. For a moment it seemed like it worked and Marrah wouldn't be able to find her, but before long the darker girl was skittering down the incline and had found her. Enera huffed in disappointment, smiled all the same. This game was fun!
"Hide hide hide!" Enera chanted, closing her eyes to wait for Marrah to run off. With her eyes still closed she wriggled her way forward. It was much harder to get out than it was to get in, and her eyes squeezed tighter shut as she silently pleaded with her grandma up in the sky to keep her from getting stuck.
If Gran was a star, could she see her during the day? She would need to ask Mama.
But right now was
playtime and Marrah was
waiting.
"Okay I'm coming!" she cheered as she finally weaseled her way from her tight hiding space and scampered back up the path. She stopped when she was back at their original meeting point and listened hard, hoping her friend's giggles would give her away again. They didn't, but Enera could smell her. She was proud of herself; it was hard for her to discern a single scent from the other wolves around her, but this time she recognized Marrah! She followed it, then paused in confusion. The smell led here, to a storm formation she hadn't paid much attention to before, but she couldn't see Marrah inside.
Then she looked up, and squealed with laughter, standing up on her hind legs to swat at the other girl.
"My turn! Without waiting for Marrah to even close her eyes, Enera whirled around and dashed away, searching for a good place to hide. She dove under a bush and rustled about for a moment before settling down and peering out with gleaming eyes. Maybe she could jump out and scare Marrah like Marrah had done to her!
