She felt the pounding in her chest as he heart continued to pump blood through her body. She felt the weight of her injured leg slow her down as she limped towards the thunderous sound. Ears flickered, listening to ever angle. This new land was foreign and she wished for no more surprises. She hadn't even known the feline was there let alone with cubs. It was a warning none-the-less, and one she heeded. If anyone was around they would be able to tell she was injured from the blood whose steady stream finally stopped and was now a trickle. Golden eyes narrowed as she tried to strain her eyes to see farther than they could. She sighed in frustration as she lurked forward, forgetting about her leg. The sigh turned into a groan of pain. Red fur flashed in the rays of the setting sun as she limped forward. Progress was slow but at least she was moving. By morning the cut would be at least scabbed over.

She should have taken advantage of that fallen deer down by the river. Her first instinct when she saw it was to get as far away as she could. If there was food there would eventually be wolves, or possibly any other creature that lived on these lands. Ebon nose twitched, remembering the scent of it's blood. It's already large eyes widened so she could see the white around them. It was living in fear as she was. She wouldn't be able to hold her own if another wolf showed up. Her petite body was weak from travel and now even weaker from injury.

She breathed heavily from the heat of late spring. It drove the small red femm further towards the sound of crashing water. Eventually she made it, with the sun setting further towards the horizon. Soon it would be dark, soon she could find a hiding spot and stay there until the sun rose once again. Her stomach growled but she ignored it. Golden eyes were locked onto the cool water from the mountains that poured into the crystal clear pool. She licked her jowls but it didn't help. Her mouth was dry. Cautiously golden eyes looked around, waiting for another animal to surprise her. When on didn't she greedily lapped up the water until she felt as if it would all come back up. She knew she should have taken it in in smaller amounts but she was thirsty and she didn't know when water would be available again. In the morning she would drink more and then leave. If her leg could hold some weight maybe she would even try to catch small prey.

Haunches were lowered at the edge of the pool, her body naturally slouching to the left to accommodate her injured leg. slender muzzle was lifted as she looked upon the mountains above her. It was beautiful. The cliff that supported the waterfall, the snow that laid upon it's strong surface, the mountains symbolized something she was not. With a sigh she tore her eyes away. She did not symbolize something that was strong, she symbolized everything that was weak.
