Morning; Southwestern Blackberry Fields; Freezing fog — 6° F/-15° C; Setting
Nova was aware she'd caused a little bit of friction at the pack meeting. She hadn't meant to, and had to remember that simple politeness wasn't just cause for jealous feelings. She truly was glad to have a home, thankful, even, that the Woodlands wolves had taken her and Camio in when they had few options left. She wanted to return the favor.
While the morning was frigid and her body wanted nothing more than to stay glued to Camio's warm side inside the den, she knew she had work to do. Quietly, as not to wake anyone else, Nova nudged @Camio awake with her nose and slipped out of the den. She had braced herself for the cold, but the icy white fog still caught her by surprise. However, Nova was determined, and little could throw her off once she decided to do something.
Once Camio had joined her outside, Nova headed south of the den. In her earlier explorations of the territory, Nova had discovered a place where the thick trees of the wood thinned out, giving way to a meadow where an arm of the Blackberry Fields stretched south alongside the Thicket of Secrets. It seemed like a good place where they would have enough foliage for cover, but would still be open enough to attract prey.
Nova stayed hugging the treeline as she neared the hunting grounds, though she kept her nose pointed towards the field as she searched for prey. She didn't think they would find anything big, perhaps snowshoe hare or pheasant, but if they were lucky between the two of them they could grab a nice present to the pack.
