Iopah Reinier
Sharp hooves sliced the very air. Stiff forelegs slammed against the ground, small earth tremors that did nothing but spurn the antagonizing wolf on. Iopah had no opportunity to glance at Hollow. This was a fine line she danced, and it took all of her concentration. A rush of black entered her field of vision. With a fading snarl she took a step back, watching Hollow gather his feet underneath him. The deer had completely lost interest in her, and she stood for a moment, panting lightly. With an angry writhing of her lips she sprang for the deer's flank. She set her grip over it's hip and pulled. Iopah doubted she alone would have been enough to pull it down, but maybe this would tilt the odds in Hollow favor. Through her grip she could feel the deer sink. She heard a solid snap from the front. Releasing her grip, she pulled back to look to Hollow.

When Hollow turned to her Iopah could see the fright in his eyes. She stood unmoving, turning her head to look at their deer thoughtfully. "It is a dangerous thing we do." She did not want to hush his fears away, a part of her was even relieved at his admission. She breathed easier knowing he would be cautious. Delicately, she picked her way across the torn up earth to his side. She sat down, letting her eyes drift back to the deer, her voice was low. "A close friend was killed by a deer. He went ahead without me." She paused, unsure how it was easiest to continue. "He got too close." Iopah was determined it never happened to another family member. "I promise I would do anything to pull you to safety."

Iopah walked back to the deer to sniff over it. Her past had a habit of sucking her in and not letting go. It was getting hard to live in the past. Iopah looked over her shoulder at Hollow, maybe they should call the rest of the pack. The rich smell of meat was enticing. With a contented growl she crouched to rip at the belly. Iopah ate her fill, then reclined to sit and clean the majority of blood off her long forelegs. Once satisfied she pointed her crimson-stained muzzle to the sky, calling for the rest of the thicket wolves. Her joyful voice rising and tumbling over the peaceful forest, inviting all to come and feast.
