So it wasn't a surprise when he passed her, turned on his heels and blocked her path, but it didn't matter - she skid to a halt with a yelp of protest, gangly legs trying to recoordinate so she could dash away but he managed to bop her muzzle mid-movement, throwing her balance just enough that she fell forwards and almost crashed into the ground - but the energy was coursing through her, and she saved herself, propelling herself forwards and out of his reach.
"You don't play fair," she said, sticking out her tongue, hopping about in a loose circle as she came to face him again, though his superiority over her did not faze the girl. She'd be bigger too one day, and though she didn't think she'd ever be as tall as him, maybe then she would be faster - and the games would go differently, he'd see.
