Shade Slayer
First Round Due By: 08-08-2013

Say your prayers and stomp it out

He had tracked the herd and he was ready to call upon them, he knew the position of the herd and he would make sure that he was an attacker in the pack hunt. He had planned it so that way Karpos and Adsila could watch, they had been getting small pieces of regurgitated meat and soon they would start learning hunting and fighting. They would eat full pieces of meat and of course, they would participate in pack hunts, all of that before they turned one year old. That worried him a bit, but perhaps that was just being paranoid. He had tracked it down a brook, the other side is where the herd grazed, he had returned to the pack territory to call them, all except Silver since she was out on a pack matter for him.

The man had sent her out to talk to Narime’s pack over in Hush Meadow so she might talk of an alliance, and to send his regards he could not go there to just talk about it all himself, but Karpos had contracted a cough and so he was staying with him until he had recovered, which he did in time. He was thankful that his son had recovered, and so a joyful hunting to celebrate his recovery. He raised his muzzle to the sky and let out a call for them all. @Anastasia the lead female would no doubt arrive with @Karpos and @Adsila and probably be one of the first or one of the last depending on how good Karp felt, probably tired. @Ace he assumed to be arriving whenever, the man would probably finish a patrol or something before arriving, as he always saw things through. @Spectre would probably be one of the first to arrive knowing her. @Capella also would probably be one of the first to arrive as she was always everywhere. @Lachesis was always good with arriving early as well. He had also scented @Naia on the territory, proving she had returned and made her home, so he expected her, who he knew was hard working, to arrive soon. Lastly, he had no idea when @Ill would arrive because he knew very little of the man.

The herd of mule deer was close to them, and would be easy to hunt down. After all, Capella he knew to be a fine hunter; and same with some of the others. Capella was the only one he had seen to hunt large prey like such, but he was eager to see the others work too. He also remembered suddenly about the last two wolves that had slipped his mind, the newest men to the pack which were @Beelzebub [who he had never formally met, however he received bad vibes from Spectre] and @Kasimir. The hunt would be successful no doubt, but a sudden ponderous thought reached his mind, who was going to stay back with the children while they hunter to make sure they didn't get to close or into any trouble? He would figure it out later.

Spectre Slayer

Knowing that the pups were old enough now to join the pack in a hunt, Spectre had remained close to the packs den instead of roaming farther on her own hunts as she usually did. She knew from previous discussions with Shade that he would be calling the entire pack to a gathering - and what she hoped would be a successful hunt followed by a well earned meal. Not sure of what prey they would be chasing, she knew one thing - it was going to be fairly large. As the packs only hunter to her knowledge, Spectre hoped that Shade would allow her to pick their target, and to perhaps even lead the hunt, though she was unsure how many would join. It depended on the strength of the numbers that arrived, certainly.

The call arose and she felt her pulse quicken and her mouth water. The time had come, and she wasted none of it in trivial pursuits. The pale female howled in response to her alphas cry, letting him know that she had indeed heard the call, and would be arriving shortly. Long limbs carried her over the grounds of the Fen, the familiar territory almost as well known to her now as the furs on the back of her own paw. As she arrived, she slowed her pace and approached the dark pelted leader, a soft, but excited whine slipping from between her jaws as they lavished licks upon his lower mandible. Her fluffy tail wagged between her hind limbs, making audible thuds against the inside of her thighs. Spectre pulled away after the greeting, forcing herself to stop fidgeting.

Ice blue eyes rotated, looking for the rest of the pack, and for the prey that they would be hunting today. She was both excited...and nervous. Excited because they were finally hunting as a pack, but nervous because she outranked all but the white alpha. Would she find herself in a dominance match over their kill when the time came? Oh lord did she hope not. Silver having made her lust for the position of Second known was bad enough, let alone having to defend her portion of the kill with bared fangs.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
<b style="font-family:Georgia; font-size:12px;">
As days went by there were more scents littering the pack lands that the ghostly yearling did not recognize. XIX had done a fairly good job of keeping to himself and detouring away from the strange scents, as he was not interested in meeting the new Trail wolves. If he was not spending time with the puppies or Ana, the yearling was busy stocking up his infirmary with plants from neighbouring territories. He had planned to wait until after the pup’s first hunt to venture out and collect more plants and herbs outside of the Deep Forest. There was only so much he could gather without having to travel further, and Shade had already given him permission to go on expeditions across the mountains.
Although he had chosen to pursue the role of medic within the pack, XIX was still an excellent hunter – he just preferred to use his skills to benefit others, as another had already assumed the role of hunter. Lachesis had shown his interest in possibly becoming the pack fisher, but that was something he could still do while being the Trail medic. The yearling preferred catching fish than larger, hoofed prey, but he was still more than capable of taking down prey double his size. While he was naturally awkward and nervous, his long legs propelled him forward and his mind would only focus on the hunt, and Nineteen almost looked like a completely different wolf when he was hunting.
It was Shade’s call that had pulled the ghost’s attention away from his infirmary, ears pinned forward as his paws carried him to the location of the Alpha’s call. He was in the process of creating his own den, separate from the pack’s den, and stocking it with the necessary plants. Having his own den made the youth feel more comfortable – prior to joining Shade’s group of rogues, XIX had grown accustom to the lifestyle of a loner. Having his own den, away from the other members of the pack, gave the yearling the privacy that he craved.
Within minutes the boy had arrived at the meeting place, and a sigh of relief rolled off his tongue as he realized that he was precisely on time (if not early). A thin smile worked itself onto his lips as he approached the espresso-coloured Alpha and pressed a quick lick to his chin before assuming his position several tail-lengths away from Shade. Another wolf, bathed in a pearly coat, had positioned herself next to the muddy-eyed leader – XIX offered her a short nod, but nothing more.

Naia Aegina

♦♦♦♦♦

A shiver of anticipation ran down Naia’s spine as her leader’s howl echoed across the pack’s territory. It was the first time she had heard Shade’s voice intone the song of their ancestors, and the call awakened a primal and irresistible urge to answer. A female packmate—one Naia had never met-- cried out in response to Shade, and Naia added her voice to the song to alert the others that she was on her way. The tiny wolf’s heart pumped wildly as she raced toward the call, not so much from the exercise but from excitement to finally meet the rest of the pack. She had yet to meet her lead female, and Naia wondered fleetingly whether the alphess would be in attendance along with Shade’s pups. She slowed as the three wolves came into view, briefly assessing the others present before making her appearance. Two ivory coated wolves had already arrived —one female had fur that glistened like fresh snow and the other a paler, ashen appearance. Knowing the third, dark-pelted wolf must be Shade, the slight female approached him straight away, whining happily and licking him on his chin several times in a show of obeisance, as was customary at formal reunions.

After she greeted Shade she considered the snowy female beside him. She held herself in a pose of dominance, though Naia thought she detected a hint of apprehension behind her captivating blue eyes. If this was not the lead female she certainly held a position of importance as indicated by her posture—a lead hunter perhaps, which would also explain her restlessness. The tawny female lowered her tail and shoulders into a submissive stance as she addressed the unfamiliar wolf. “I’m Naia, Miss—pleased to make your acquaintance.” She introduced herself with a smile that was both amiable and deferential. Though she would insist on the respect she deserved for her contributions, Naia was a pacifist by nature and had no intention of engaging in the pack dominance struggle. Ranks mattered far less to her than peaceful coexistence, and she hoped to make that clear to the snowy female right from the start.

Finally, she turned to the last wolf, a male with the stretched-out features of a yearling. It took her only a moment to recognize the ghostlike lad, and her honey eyes lit up with delight. “Nineteen!” she exclaimed, naming her playmate from the meadow several weeks ago. Though it hadn’t been so long since their last meeting, the youngster seemed different to Naia. He was certainly less timid, and he looked older somehow... Pack life seemed to agree with her friend. The female gave Nineteen a few joyful licks before sitting beside him, thrilled to learn there was at least one other in the pack that she had already met.

Karpos Slayer
i'm gonna pick up the pieces, and build a lego house...

OOC

Karpos had heard his da call for him, Adsila and the rest of the pack and he became curious. He started to scamper off from his place at his favorite log which he had learned to conquer after his embarrassing fall so long ago. He hadn't met anyone new, but he had smelled new people in the pack den when he woke up in the mornings, but they were always gone by the time he was up and awake, conscious of everything. He than arrived, curiously tilting his head to the side when he saw who was there already. There was a white wolf who he had scented on Adsi when she got back from her adventures, and Karpos was jealous, but he had the best uncle Lachesis who was going to take him star catching on the mountains.

He arrived and sat next to his uncle Lach, and he looked at the others and then to his dad and innocently asked. "Who doughs strangers?" His speech was improving, but it wasn't perfect, it would be quite some time before that happened. He looked forward to his adventures. His da had told him his uncle was a healer, and so he figured they could even go all over, looking for plants. The exposure would be good for him no doubt and he could learn, he could even protect his uncle Lach. That was for certain, they could watch each other's backs. Always. It was like a bro code to him. He looked up at his uncle, figuring maybe he knew who the two wolves {Naia and Spectre} were.

Anastasia Starklen
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#2AA6E0;">
Anastasia made her way as best she could while traveling behind Karpos and Adsila, though as figured Karpos quickly pushed his way in front of them and scampered ahead. It wasn’t too much of a bother to her. Seeing that that was usually the first thing he did was run off in front of she was sure that Adsila would follow close behind. After all, it had become very clear to Anastasia that the latter wasn’t too fond of the Alpha Female’s presence here as it wasn’t her mother from birth. Ana dealt with it, realizing that it wasn’t her place to enforce her placement but rather just to be there and protect the children when necessary.
Eventually she got to the gathering of wolves and there were certainly enough here but there were a few missing wolves. Cautiously she looked to each wolf individually and gave them a smile and a nod, welcoming them to the gathering. There had been talk of a hunt between her and Shade a little while ago so she was quite happy to be of assistance now. She wasn’t built to take down the heavy prey but she could sure chase them down. Running was a personal favorite. So with her adrenaline already pumping and seeing someone else next to Shade, she assumed the position next to Lachesis. He was always a comfortable wolf to be near and she automatically felt calmed and delighted in his presence. Surely he would feel the same towards her.

Kasimir Ragnarök

A call had risen to the skies, drawing Kasimir’s attention away from his thoughts which lingered, perhaps sadly, upon the grevious task of attempting, though hardly succeeding, in improving his German to English translations so that his words might flow as beautifully as the words of those born to the common tongue. Mostly, Kasimir was accustomed to practicing in private, a choice made simply because he wished to avoid the mockery that he feared. Maybe it would be better if he vowed to take an oath of silence and simply pretend that he was mute. The only problem was that the few pack mates he’d met, including Shade and Anastasia, Pitch Pine Trail’s leaders, knew he his vocal chords were quite functional. It would be insincere of him to act as if he was crippled vocally, but his hesitancy and fear of, really, the only thing the Northerner knew was persuasive. Though Kasimir did not know the nature of Shade Slayer’s call, he could tell that it was important. Kasimir could only encourage and nurture the (perhaps vain) hope that he would not be required to speak at this gathering.

It did not take the platinum colored Northerner to reach the small gathering of wolves that had already convened around Shade, Anastasia and a ghostly colored woman that Kasimir did not know but suspected had some sort of connection to Shade Slayer given the close proximity of which she dwelled to him. Turquoise eyes examined the group, lingering a little longer on the wolves that he did know, touching briefly the ones that he did not. It was a relief to Kasimir that he was not the first wolf there, though perhaps being one of the “stragglers” might reflect bad on him, personally, he could not find it in himself to care, so powerful was his relief. He offered submissive licks to Shade and Anastsia’s chins before he moved to stand within the group but secluding himself so he was not invasive into anyone’s personal space. Strategically thinking, Kasimir hoped that by placing himself in the figurative shadows, that me may go unnoticed and not be called upon to speak. It was…ironic to Kasimir, how he shied away from using his voice in Relic Lore, hindered by the language barrier, when in the Cold North his natural friendliness would not allow him a moments pause in his speech.

Shade Slayer
[@Ace, @Beelzebub, and @Adsila can meet them to the travel point? Also we need to wrap this up super soon :)]

Shade smiled as one by one they arrived, but he knew all the faces, and that told him this Beelzebub that he had been hearing about was not there. But the time was starting to become wasted, his eyes had a gleam of worry to him, because Adsila was not there yet, though neither was Ace so maybe Ace took Adsila out to show her the borders or something, and they weren’t running because Adsila couldn’t run as fast as the strong built guardian. He forced himself to remain calm, wondering when they would get there and decided there was no time to wait. "We are going to start heading out; the others can meet us there." He decided to himself but outloud. He howled to those who were on their way here, or wherever they were, to meet them closer the borders near Clandestine Brook.

He started off towards the brook himself, knowing the others would follow him to the destination that awaited them. He was worried to say the least, the fact that he hadn’t seen his only daughter. He was protective over the two of them, but it was more than protective with her, it was almost a fact that she was his daughter, and his only daughter at that. He knew Karpos and Adsila would both grow to be strong wolves, Adsila even bigger than Karpos by the looks of things, but it didn’t matter to him. They were growing up to fast, and he was growing old very fast. He was already 6 years old, soon he himself might pass from age.

Anastasia Starklen
<b style="font-family:georgia; font-size:12px; color:#2AA6E0;">
Anastasia smiled as Kasimir arrived, granting each leader a submissive lick under their chins and seating himself amongst the others. Careful eyes had regarded Spectre’s affection when licking the underside of Shade’s chin and when she didn’t receive the same in return she felt baffled. Anastasia was a leader, too and to see Shade being given appropriate respect and not her it clearly stated to the pale leader that Spectre did not respect her. Although she was kind and rarely pushed people for their submission, she felt fueled by this. Ana might have recruited Beelzebub in here and she might not have taken a liking to him, but that gave her no right to ignore her.
Over time she began to dismiss the inappropriate action and focused on what they were going to do. Hunting would require complete concentration and focus so nothing could go wrong. Anastasia continued to look across her pack mates as they all lifted themselves up with Shade’s instructions and followed him out to the Brook. The Alpha could only hope that everyone was on their game and focused for their task so that no casualties would occur. Although Karpos had been the only pup to show Ana felt positive that Adsila was likely off with Ace. They seemed to share a close bond so the worry wasn’t too taxing. From the look on Shade’s face she saw something different so she casually bumped her shoulder to his and through expression alone told him that everything would be okay.

OOC: Merp

Karpos had his head tilted to the side in confusion. Where had his sister disappeared to this time and why was she not with the pack for the hunt? He shrugged it off and the dark colored male followed his father towards wherever they were going to hunt. Karpos knew that he probably would not be officially hunting, but probably watching since everyone thought him to be young. He felt happy though, Adsila had Spectre for hunting, and at the time, and for a long time hopefully, Karpos had Lachesis for exploring. Uncle Lachesis to be exact and they were best buddies he knew, or believed. He looked back at the others who would no doubt follow. He debated waiting for them all to catch up, but his short attention span told him otherwise.

He felt almost relieved that they got to watch a hunt, he thought everyone saw him as a baby or something but apparently he had been wrong. "Whatrwe huntin da?" He asked with a curiosity of a million pups. Perhaps they were hunting rabbits or voles!!! Karpos himself had never seen anything larger than that, though he had not been out of the den when they had brought deer back. No, that was back when they were in the forest, the dark forest that he always mistook to have ghosts in them. He intended on visiting it again, but he had to be careful because of the evil wolf that was there. The one that had tried to hurt him and Adsila, or so the wolf said.
