Castiel had kept mainly to himself during Dee's absence, not wanting to be around anyone as all they did was usher him back into the den and stand guard. Like he would just up and leave, though that was most likely exactly what his older brother had done. Maybe they did that for a reason. But now that he was back he ventured from the den more often to explore, though at the moment he was lying on the ground and soaking up the sun. It warmed his fur and made him sleepy, and many times he felt himself slipping into a light sleep and then resurfacing a few minutes later at the trilling call of a bird or a sound in the far distance.
It was peaceful, just lying there in the baking hot sun without worrying if Dee was okay, nor having others worry if he would run off. One would think he would be bursting with excitement to go and scout out his home, but after the whole ordeal he felt like it was easier to stay near the den where his parents, family and pack members knew he was safe. Plus it was just so relaxing in the sun that he felt no need to move, that is, until an hour later when he began to feel hot.
Sleepily getting to his feet, the Ridge Prince stumbled into the shade out of the searing heat, plopping down onto the ground once more. Now he was all warm on the inside and didn't need the sun, in fact, he was just a little too hot. Maybe if someone came along he would find the energy to run around, but right then all he felt like doing was sleeping.
