Deacon
For @Celandine Clear — 13° F/-11° C | Noon | A few miles from Silent Moon Plateau's borders
Deacon Archer Lyall

It was his first real trip away from the confined borders of Willow Ridge. He had talked to Elettra and Angier, his parents, before taking off. Deacon had taken every precaution available. He had stocked himself on a good meal, slept longer than normal, and made sure to get a good drink of water before leaving.

The growing Archer Lyall was slowly filling his soon to be large frame. His long legs becoming more muscular and broad chest awkwardly filling out. He was certainly a knightly sort of breed. The Archer looks thickly lathered over his boy while Lyall blood, mind, and soul filled the inside of him. Perhaps his Lyall blood was to blame for why he ever left for an adventure in the first place. Maybe he should have brought @Octavius along but something inside of Deacon told him this was a trip for one.

Finding himself trudging up the rocky terrain he knew he wouldn't go to the highest peak. The prince knew he would have to return safely and in one piece to his parents and pack, who were surely waiting eagerly for his return. Deacon was also well aware that if he lingered for too long one of his siblings or other family members would likely hunt him down and drag his rear home. He knew he might only be able to spend a few hours here before turning right around. Maybe one day he could get one of the Ridge wolves to bring him back here.

"Speech."

It didn't take long for the plateau to become more prison than home. With nothing but empty land for miles above, and miles alongside, it seemed the only place that held any interest was below. A vast expanse lay before them, littered with trees and streams. Each view more breathtaking than the last. Unfortunately, getting down from their rolling flat was easier said than done. An unstable collection of rocks lead the way to the base. Rocks that might shift under her weight, and send her cascading down the mountain. Still drunk on youth, the girl felt invincible, and holding dear to that hope, she began her descent.

The Earth certainly did shift as her pale paws almost lost their footing. Taking a moment to catch her breath, the princess thanked the Gods that she had grown into her legs. In fact, she had grown into all of her proportions quite well, her features sharpening a little more each day. A trip like this wouldn't have been feasible with the long clumsy limbs she'd had before. They would have lacked the precision and balance she required. Thankfully, that phase had been short lived, though dramatic for what it was. Only a few weeks prior, the girl had been awkward, puffy with the beginnings of a Winter coat, and a body that needed to fill out. Surely a sight to see, Celandine couldn't help but hope she didn't look quite as funny as Evy had. The silly memory forced a hesitant smile to touch her features.

Evy might have been her biggest competition, but the inky girl never held herself the way Celandine did. A princess adhered to a different set of rules, ones that groomed them for their futures. They had to learn to rule with an iron paw, to make the right decisions even when they might hard, to be a queen, but the youngest Argyris wasn't sure her sister had it in her.

Not having planned on being gone too long, the preparation was light. Just a quick meal and some water to keep her going. A couple hours in, the young Argyris thought to turn back, but something tempted her forward. A strange scent on the breeze, one she had never experienced before. Curiosity taking hold, amber eyes scanned the horizon. Someone was out there. "Hello?"

"Hello?"

"Hello?"

His own voice mimicked back to her voice. He wasn't alone anymore. Taking a few more leaps and bounds on the most stable rocks he could find his fire like eyes found her. She was pretty too. Not in the way he would think of Morganna, his sister, as pretty. She was pretty in a weird way.

The strange pretty girl had a pristine coat like the snow that would fall from the sky. Her eyes a pretty color of amber. She was almost the complete opposite of him.

"Hi there. I'm Deacon, prince of Willow Ridge." He offered a respectful nod like he would give to one of the members of his home. "You must be a princess?" He assumed, that since she was his age and a female, she must have been a princess. Maybe her kingdom was close by. The pretty princess must have had family waiting for her return to them. Or, just perhaps, her family was with her not to far off.

Smiling softly he exposed his ivory teeth to her in a friendly way. "What are you doing out here?" He was curious was she was out here all alone. Of course he was all alone out here but that was different. He was a strong noble prince in the making and could take care of himself. She though, she was a princess who needed to be hidden from the evils of this world. She needed a knight.

The voice that answered was definitely male, not deep like her father's, but closer to Takis' in range. Curious, she moved in his direction. Ears perched atop her head, and bright eyes scanning the horizon. She could hear him moving, the gravel crunching under his paws. Her heart was racing, she'd never met another wolf her own age, what could come of this? Was she in danger? All thoughts were out the window when her gaze fell upon him.

He was definitely her age, his build reminiscent of the man he would become. As she inched closer, his dark coat came alive with silver and gold flecks hiding among the black. It seemed he even had manners. Smirking with approval, she nodded back, showing all the courtesies of her birthplace, and somehow he knew. He saw what she sometimes failed to see in herself. Celandine was truly a princess. Her smile could have rivaled the sun.

Dipping her head as if to agree, her tone remained polite. "Celandine, princess of Silent Moon Plateau, formerly Magnolia Glen. It's nice to meet you." Not only had she stumbled upon a wolf her age, but a prince nonetheless. In her mind, that made things more difficult, were princesses held to the same expectations where he was from? Taking care to remember her manners, the girl held herself as his equal.

"Sometimes it's just nice to get away." There was no sense in lying, and to be honest, she didn't want to. "What about you?"

"@Celandine, princess of Silent Moon Plateau, formerly Magnolia Glen."

"It is a true honor to meet you Miss Celandine." He offered a polite nod of his head to the female like he would offer to his superiors or to anyone he would respect. "It's more of an honor to meet a princess though. We don't really have any princesses where I'm from. Only one who is my older sister. But she's really not as kind to me as you have been." He wagged his tail slowly behind his larger form. "Or as pretty as you." He mentally chimed in to himself.

Looking down at the rocks underneath his paws he rolled around a loose pebble with his left paw. "Oh, me? I'm out here for just about the same reason as you. Trying to get away from my constantly lingering family. I'm also trying to explore more ya know? I'm a growing prince and I need to learn my surroundings well." He thoughts maybe if he threw around the title prince a bit more maybe he could flaunt of his royalty more and capture the eye of the princess.

Taking a seat on the rough terrain he shifted for a moment before finding a comfortable resting spot. "If you're a princess shouldn't you have your guardian watching you or your kingdom?" He looked around straining his neck trying to see if any adult was around. Deacon also took in a deep breath to see if he could smell the scent of pack borders. Of course he didn't exactly know what to search for in smell. Maybe they might smell like his own borders.

"It's an honor to meet you as well, since we only have one prince." That might have been too much information, but she'd already decided that she trusted him. Not that she planned on telling him the exact location of their dens or anything. That would be very un-princess-like of her, and he told her about his family first anyway.

In an attempt to focus on anything but the dark stranger, Celandine found herself staring intently at the pebble. She never had a problem with staring, as it usually came off rude, challenging even, but for some reason her eyes kept drifting back up. It was very unlike the princess, and she couldn't understand why it was happening. "I know what you mean. A good king or queen should always know what they're up against." It was a relief to know she wasn't the only cub out there taking their future status seriously.

The question threw her off, as she'd never had a 'guardian' before. Sure, her father was her protector, but life would be stifling had someone been following her around. Not to mention, they probably wouldn't have let her stop to talk to the prince. "Well, they don't exactly know I'm out here. I kind of... slipped away." Oh no. Oh no, oh no, oh no. Why did she say that? A princess shouldn't just be sneaking away. Although her rebellious streak was in full swing, she couldn't let anyone else know that. How would he view her now?

"It's an honor to meet you as well, since we only have one prince."

Well lucky for whoever that prince was. Unlike Deacon who had two younger brothers (@Castiel and @Greer) then one older brother (@Skoll). But his biggest challenge was having to remove his father Angier from the throne first. Deacon was rather sure it wouldn't be him having to knock someone off the throne though. He was content knowing if anything Angier would either step down, or someone older (Leaning towards Skoll..) would knock Angier off when the time was right.

Nodding at her next statement in agreement he was pleased to know that someone else out there, especially a princess, was trying to take their title of royalty seriously. It made him feel less alone in this giant world he was just beginning to explore. Maybe the princess had seen more of it then him and could teach him some. Perhaps they could even become travel buddies!

"Well, they don't exactly know I'm out here."

"Oh?"

"I kind of... slipped away."

"Ooooh."

He understood how worried her family must be. If he went out alone without his family knowing his mother Elettra would probably have a whole head hunting party out after him. He had already gone missing once so it was even a true blessing that his parents allowed him to travel out on his own. Though he was getting older so he assumed it was about he let his paws find land on their own.

Flicking his tail he took a small step forward closer to the princess. "Well they must be very worried about you. A princess like yourself should be guarded with all might and power a kingdom has." Offering a small smile to expose on his face he quickly looked up to @Celandine's eyes. "Maybe I can walk you back to your kingdom?"

Her gaze fell to the gravel beneath their paws, shame written all over pale features. Celandine knew how she looked, as sneaking off was the last thing expected of a princess. Her duties were with the pack, soaking in all the information she could, but the plateau was maddening. Nothing to look at, not enough to explore. Wanderlust was a hell of a trait, and one of the least desirable in any leader. Just like her wayward mother, was that a peek into her future? For the first time in her young life, the Argyris girl awaited a judgement that actually seemed to matter.

Celandine could hear the words sinking in. Deacon's "Oooooh" confirming her fears. Oh gods was she ashamed, another first for the youth who had only ever radiated confidence. "They must be very worried about you" Were they? She didn't think she had been gone that long, maybe she lost track of time. How long had she been gone?

Deacon took a step closer, smile touching his lips. "Maybe I can walk you back to your kingdom?" A strange heat rushed to her face. "I.." Their eyes met, intense fire against the sun. What was she saying? If her heart wasn't pounding before, then it was now. Swallowing, the snowy princess tried to regain her composure. "I have been gone a while, and it would be nice to have company." Celandine didn't want to force him, nor seem too desperate.

These two, so cute<3 @Celandine c:

"I have been gone a while, and it would be nice to have company."

"Then allow me, to be your company." His words drew out with a rather charming smile that fit his young prince face. The growing prince didn't understand what he was feeling but he sort of liked it in an awkward way. It was like a pesky creature that you hated at first but somehow grew fond of. In some weird twisted way that's how the Archer-Lyall was feeling about his emotions toward the Princess of Silent Moon Plateau, Celandine.

Offering a quick flick of his tail he walked past the princess with that smile still plastered to his face. "Care to show me the way?" Deacon smiled softly at her. Taking a circle around her briskly he lightly brushed his shoulder against her side like he had witnessed his parents, the King and Queen of Willow Ridge, do to each other every now and then. He wasn't fully sure on what exactly it meant but he assumed it had to do with kindness and liking so he decided, why not he do it himself? Deacon only hoped that the snowy princess wouldn't think of him as weird or even worse. What if the snow princess he had just discovered had a prince waiting for her? Would he have to make himself look even better to be the apple of her amber hued eye?

"Why don't you tell me about yourself Princess Celandine?" The dark boys tones soft as he suggested such ideas. It would be better to get to know the princess more before they had to part ways.

'Then allow me, to be your company.' Oddly enough she actually wanted him to keep her company. Meaningless conversation was the bane of her existence, and yet she found herself wishing for it. Anything to keep him talking, to give her a reason to appreciate his features. She could admire the way the sun touched his pelt while he was speaking, feigning a courtesy or two, but something about it was addicting. As if she couldn't tear her eyes away.

Then something happened, an unexpected touch that set her on fire. Too young to know what it meant to have a crush, and without that important bit of information usually passed on from mother to daughter, she froze. It took only a second, but it felt like years before her mind began to clear up again. Numb to everything but the spot where his shoulder brushed, Celandine began moving, rerouting herself towards the plateau. "Of course." A stupid smile graced her features, one she didn't even realize was there.

Her mind was still cloudy when his question broke the silence between them. What to say? "I hardly think that's fair." A playful twinkle passed through the amber of her eyes. She had to keep some mystery didn't she? "How about you ask a question, and for every one I answer, I ask you one as well?" It was desire hidden in a game. She wanted to know about him as well, but asking directly just wasn't her style.
