Phineas Argyris

The days in Silent Moon Plateau were quiet -- a welcome change from the heartache and drama that had filled his pack's lives at Magnolia Glen. His children seemed to settle in nicely, and had reached a size where they could be considered adults -- though they had a few months to go. Winter was still upon them -- the snow blanketed upon the ground with a gentle crunch if walked upon, and the frigid temperatures did not relent. Yet the sun would settle against the horizon later in the day now, and with that, Phineas knew that spring would come for them soon.. and with it, breeding season. He had no original intent to pass along his genes this year -- two litters with a lost love was certainly enough for him. But something about a certain she-wolf within his ranks intrigued him, and he found himself contemplating from straying from his original thoughts.

His thoughts were interrupted when a thick and revolting scent pulled him from his senses. His mouth went dry when his eyes befell the prints in the snow, and with sharp alarm, he realized a cat had crossed in to their territory -- one that could string along quite a bit of harm in its path.

His muzzle tilted only momentarily to usher a  sharp barking howl, beckoning his pack mates to the defense as he warned them of the predators presence. With his song echoing across the Plateau skies, the ivory wolf swiftly roved forward, his paws tracing the others until his sharp orange eyes fell upon the golden cat. It was of medium build -- it's own amber eyes casting a beguiling glare to him before a rumble escaped it. Phineas' own teeth slipped past his lips, a snarl moving forward from him as he stiffened, waiting for it to either fight or flee.

Aesire Destine-Caravello

The young leader heard the sharp bark from Phineas which drew in her attention from what she had been previously focusing on (Ace). It sounded important and so she would rise and break into a run towards the scene. Her ears were perked an alert as she aimed to arrive in a timely manner to see what the problem was. There was a look of genuine concern as she tried to remember where she had seen the pups that day if she had seen them at all as she arrived on scene. A cat and Phineas seemed to be locked in a battle of wills. A fight or flight response would no doubt kick in soon as she took her place near Phineas as her own snarl slid across her charcoal dusted muzzle.

Her eyes narrowed as she eyed the feline carefully, unsure of the motives behind the creature treading on dangerous waters. She had a very defined opinion of how stupid cats like these were for trespassing and traversing pack boundaries but this evidence only strengthened the opinion. She wished she had taken the time before she arrived to make sure that the three children were safe even though she knew that they could probably take care of themselves now, especially Celandine. While she held the intimidating stance, she pondered where Ace and Heigen were. She knew that the two men could handle themselves one in a fight. These were fairly obvious from the fact that she learned how to fight from her cousin and that Ace was a skilled pack guardian whom she had sparred with once before.

Evy Argyris

A concerned howl from her father had caught her attention just as it had Aesire's. The curious girl decided she could take her time in getting  to the particular scene of the crime so the girl slowly trotted with her head held high. A bright smile crossed her face as she bounced along. She caught Aesire's scent crossing where her father's had and that made her tilt her head. She furthered her approach with a curious look on her face. She arrived at the scene to see a snarling lynx, her father and the other alpha both returning the look. Her fiery orange eyes widened as she gasped. She backed up with her jaw dropped to the point where it could almost touch the ground. She tripped on a small mound of snow tomorrow and fell backwards onto her but with a 'hmmp' sound.

The jet black girl spoke up for one single time, quite confused on what to do. "What do we do, daddy?" The words were spoken with a certain determination as the nine month old pup rose. A stubborn look was placed on her face as she put herself into what she thought was a defensive position. Her legs wobbled beneath her with the nerves that she was feeling. She took a deep breath and tried to copy the intimidating snarls that her father and the female alpha had on their faces. Her growl was more high pitched than theirs and it was weak. She was confident that with her father, she would be safe from any harm that might come to her.

Tannis Andreas

As per usual, Tannis had been minding his own business within Plateau wolf territory. He had been taking - or, at least, trying to take - a well-deserved nap when the sound of strange footfalls pulled at his ears. His eyes flashed open, the whites of his eyes showing around his irises as he saw it there - a pointy-earred thing that was much too quiet to be any of the yearlings and much too heavy to be something like a marmot or a rabbit. It narrowed its menacing eyes, hissing at the Andreas before slipping away, clearly startled, when the wolf flinched back in a panic.

Somewhere not far from where Phineas had been lingering nearby, Tannis had let out a terrified yelp, scrambling to his feet in a coughing fit when the Leader of the Silent Moon Plateau had let out a barking howl for the attention of his pack. The coyote-like man was gasping for breath as he picked up on Aesire's trail, following her into the intimidated presence of the Argyris and his dark-furred daughter, Evy.

His mind was spinning as he practically slithered up alongside Evy's flank in the snow, whining and whimpering as he fidgeted in place once he had the whole of his body on the ground. "I saw it," he gasped for air. "It was... It's near the heights, it's--" For a split second his golden-eyed gaze flit over to where he saw the lynx for a second time. It seemed larger now as it stared hard at the wolves that had gathered to ward it off; and, suddenly, Tannis was frozen with fear.

The russet ears atop his head had fully swiveled backwards and his jaw clenched tight as his lips sealed. As ready as he was to take the blame for possibly drawing the clawed-creature to their part of the mountain, he was not quite sure he was prepared to do what he was told should Phineas give him an order to tell the creature off or chase it away on his own four feet.

He took a step back as though it the movement alone was enough to conceal him behind the dark girl's figure and shrieked, "It's- It's HERE! G-get it! Quick!"

Takis Argyris

His father’s beckoning call echoed urgently across the Plateau, and with a blink, Takis’ swift ivory paws lead him to the direction of the cry. His hackles bristled as he remained tense, uncertain of what to expect – but as he neared, the stench of something new seemed to spurn him forward faster, with an urgency. Snow crunched beneath his paws, and while he had heard the hardship of last winter, he find he did not mind the colder seasons mother nature brought forward – it tugged at a part of him.. little did he know, it was his arctic heritage.

His fiery eyes swept over the gathered group of wolves, seeing them first with a sense of relief – they seemed fine. He stalked forward, his nose quivering now before his gaze finally laid upon the lynx – a ferocious, spitting noise coming from it as it coldly glared at the wolves now.

Sidling up beside his dark sister, his eyes grazed over Tannis’, who saw fit to cower behind her. Despite his age and his fondness for the brute, a quirk of his lip revealed a flashing snarl to the omega, clearly revealing his disapproval.

His shoulder would brush Evy’s, his eyes fixing back to his father. Aesire was here as well – a united leader forefront, and feeling his muscles tense, the youthful Argyris waited for permission to give chase, wondering if Phineas would even allow his now fully grown children to move forward on the attack. As it stood, they would prove more useful in this battle than Tannis – and otherwise, it would only be two versus one.

Phineas Argyris

A few came to his call – he was pleased that the first among them was Aesire, his mysterious co-lead. He seen little of her – it was almost as if she avoided him. Yet now, her silver fur gleaming in the cold light of winter, she seemed an extraordinary opponent.. and for a quick flash, he was reminded of how she had won the rank challenge.

His daughter came next – the trio always curious, Phineas felt an inner grimace at the thought of the pups in danger, despite the fact that they neared a year in age now. Tannis was quick upon her heels – and instantly, he cowered behind the girl, much to the father’s dismay. Takis then came – nearing his sister, as if he were her protector.. when in reality, they both had seemingly protected one another during the hardship of losing their mother.

The Argyris patriarch was quick to move forward, stepping closer to his children so if the lynx dare try to fall upon it’s fighting instinct to lunge at them, it would need to go through him first. His eyes flashed with contempt at the creature, and with bristled fur, the regal took a step closer, seeing if the feline would take his supposed ‘bluff’ and choose to flee instead.

It did. The rising hiss that escaped their opponent was hideous before it flung backward, kicking up a flurry of snow in its wake as it fled further in to their territory rather than away. With a harsh snarl, the man gave quick chase upon its heels, his warning snarls turning to ones of vicious intent as his teeth would clash at the air, hoping to grip flesh and fur within his grasp.

Aesire Destine-Caravello

Aesire held her stance with a bit of pride as other filtered in behind her. The small voice that she identified as Evy made her tense even more. The child was in danger, even though she could handle her own. She heard a male adult voice that sounded almost timid and weak. She could practically feel the tension on the air. She did not notice Takis filtering in but she could almost feel the fact that there was more than one wolf behind her and Phineas. She paid no attention as to not breaking the concentrated stare that she held on the lynx before it took off after a bluff from Phineas.

The woman hissed, rushing the creature as it fled further into the territory. She fell in right beside Phineas as the creature made it's way in. She cast a quick glance over her shoulder to make sure the children were far enough back to avoid harm if the lynx dared turn and fight the small pack of wolves. Her mind raced as several questions hit her. Where was Ace? Where was Celandine? It was not like her to miss her father's call. Where was Aestyn and Seraphina and Muerda and everyone else? She forced herself to ignore the questions as she focused on the hunt. Aes held a certain anger in her eyes as she pursued the creature.

Celandine Argyris

She was almost too far away to hear her father's frantic call. It spoke of danger, a prospect that excited Celandine to no end. Spinning to redirect herself, the pale girl rushed off in search of her father. Long limbs carried her with ease over the plateau, straight into something. Although she wasn't sure what it was, the promise of excitement was too good to pass up. Things had been too quiet lately, and quiet wasn't exactly her style.

Cursing herself for wandering so far out, Celandine knew she would be the last to arrive. Evy was probably the first. Such a thought would have prompted an eye-roll had she not been running so hastily. There wasn't time, and she had no intention of missing the fun.

Her breath was hot on the air when she finally arrived. Evy was indeed there, much to the young princesses dismay, as was a new 'friend'. A lynx had somehow slipped past the boarders, probably hoping for an easy meal. Unfortunately, there were no longer any small cubs traipsing through the plateau. No, Celandine and her siblings were very much grown. All forces to be reckoned with. Whispering a small, "I won't let it hurt you." To the cowering male, Celandine took her place beside Takis and Evy. It was the queenly thing to do, as she would be a queen someday.

Instinctively, her lips pulled back to reveal still-white teeth. A mark of youth, but her size suggested otherwise. Hackles rising, she awaited a command.

Takis Argyris

Celandine slithered up beside them – her hushed words stirring a darker amusement in the chest of the boy as he cast a sideways glance to his sister. Tannis was a wolf the ivory boy was fond of – but one that was better suited to the lower rungs of the hierarchy – though the to-be yearlings would remain as such as they looked after next year’s litter.. if there even was one. With Aesire as lead, the alabaster boy supposed anything could be possible.. though he did not wish to dwell on the potential of his father mating with her. Takis, as hurt as he was by his mother’s disappearance, was not looking for a replacement for her.

Phineas released a snarl to the predator.. and in turn, it turned and fled in to the heart of the pack’s territory. The leaders were quick to give chase, and without hesitating, the Argyris youth was upon swift paws, his young form giving chase to their heels as well. His lips curled back in to a snarl – eliciting a low growl as his paws thrummed against the frozen ground of his home, hoping to protect it and those within it from the beast that had come barging through their figurative door. He held no doubt that Celandine was near him – her pride and instinct would not allow any less, though he did not know if Tannis or Evy would come further. It would be in his darker sister’s nature to protect the skittish male, no doubt – but then again, the cubs were growing.. and with it, their priorities and personalities shifting.
