Celandine Argyris

Here is that Cella/Aponi thread!

Celandine did not deny that she spent most of her time away from Silent Moon, unwilling to accept what she could not change. Three obstacles stood in her way. Namely, Aesire, Hyppa, and Evy. They all thought they held some better claim to her throne, didn't they? Real or imagined, it was something the girl obsessed over while she was home. Until she was older, she was forced to keep a lower rank, unable to challenge for her greatest desires. There might have been no denying it within the Plateau, but things were different beyond the borders.  No one was vying for her crown out there, no one blocking her deserved path, and soon she would make this place the same. Much still needed to be done, but the Argyris girl was confident that a year was more than enough. She would bide her time, playing nice with the subordinates, and one day she would rise as their queen. The thought was enough to bring a smirk to pale lips, as the princess headed for their borders.

Stalking through the trees, she was dismayed to find something amiss. Celandine had not failed to notice the silvery woman's appearance, bringing with her the wretched scent of desperation. Her return held no importance, however. What was truly curious was the light undertones of something else. Having had little in the way of the birds-and-bees talk, the youth did not understand what was happening. She'd never experienced such a thing before, but Aesire held the same aroma. Were they friends? The pale girl couldn't recall them together. In fact, she couldn't remember the last time she had seen the silver girl with anyone.

Curious, Cella latched onto Aponi's trail, seeking the woman out in an attempt to get the the bottom of it.

I am literally the worst for taking so long to get to this, I'm so sorry! At the time of this thread Aponi is about 6 weeks pregnant so her sides are noticeably swollen and she's suffering from morning sickness.

Aponi spent as much time outside of the borders as she possibly could. Other than brief visits from @Phineas to check on her condition the girl spent most of her time alone. It's not that she wanted to avoid any work and not pull her weight, rather the very sight of the other pack mates set her on edge. Her always mercurial temper had an even shorter fuse as of late and the girl knew she had to keep on the good side of the other's if she hoped to lead them one day. Even now her mood was worsened by the constant nausea and consistent vomiting after every meal. Despite this her sides continued to balloon past their usual proportions, making her once sleek appearance much rounder than it had ever been.

The one time that the almost woman had caught sight of her reflection in the pool she had almost retched. She looked like her mother, fat with children she didn't want, fat with responsibility she did for all the wrong reasons. Even today she had been attempting to make a border patrol, something she could do in solitude without questions and still be useful when she had had to stop. The waves of curdling stomach had hit her at full force until she had been forced to stop or else once more lose anything she had managed to keep down. Taking safety upon a nearby flat-topped boulder she had settled her head upon her paws in an attempt to ride it out. Eyes clenched shut in desperation and all of her concentration on keeping the bile down she was naive to the approach of the Argyris princess.

No worries! I don't mind waiting!

When she came upon the silvery woman, her sides bulging with future promises, realization hit, and it hit hard. Somehow the woman must have slipped the pregnancy past her father, clearly hoping that the Plateau wolves would take on the burden of caring for her base-borne children.  Cubs were not a luxury that subordinates were allowed to enjoy, though it seemed that this woman thought otherwise. How would Aesire feel to know the truth of it? An even more foreboding thought entered her consciousnesses then. The Destine woman was their stand-in alpha, and so it would make sense that she thought she had the right-though Celandine was positive that she didn't. Thus, it was not Aponi's cubs who posed the current heiress the highest threat, but that woman's. She currently stood in place as their leader, but the youth would be damned if the tawny she-wolf placed little crowns upon their heads. They weren't princes, and princesses. They were lower, much lower. Servants at best, and someday they would bow to their rightful queen.

No. There couldn't be any more. Every life born into her plateau was another obstacle. Each and every mewling pup was another she would have to break down, another she would have to compete with. It was too much. She felt her skin crawl, as anger settled within the pit of her stomach. They had done this on purpose, to thwart her plans, to steal her throne. It couldn't be true. @Phineas wouldn't allow it, would he? "Who?" It was all she could say, though she had no idea that the answer might threaten to tear her apart.

The sounds of approaching paw steps grated on the silver girl's nerves, did somebody really have to be here to witness her misery? Moving one paw slightly farther down her muzzle the blue eyes squinted out against the change in lighting. The white form of one of Phineas' other children was moving closer, as if she was seeking her out on purpose. What was this one's name? She had been a member of the Glen when the last litter was born but assuming that she even exchanged words with them was a stretch. Was it Evy? No that was the dark girl, the white one was....was..... Cela something. Celadime maybe? That was close enough.

The way that the yellow eyes settled on the Aquila's stomach made it very clear that Phineas had made a grave mistake; he had not told all his children.  Suddenly her angry words rocked the air and once more the expectant wolf found herself growing irritated. What are you a fucking owl?  raising her eyebrows in feign surprise she responded, "Who what?"  She knew very well who what but she wanted the words said out loud. Obviously her father had failed to educate her on what had happened between them, whether from lack of time or still doubting their legitimacy mattered little to her. If the girl wanted to know then Aponi would tell her, besides these were her siblings that she was carrying. As Hypatia had said, did that not make them all family now?

The quidnunc awaited Aponi's answer with bated breath, while going through the possibilities in her head. She had already come to the conclusion that the silvery woman either brought her pregnant self to their borders to grovel at Phineas' paws, or she had coerced one of the Plateau's males into spawning little usurpers with her. If the gods were good, then it would be the former so that she could rest a little easier knowing that the chance of a plot between the subordinates to overthrow their rule was lessened, and if the latter proved to be true... May the Goddess save them all from her father's wraith. The real problem now was just who. There were two eligible males, well one and a half where Tannis was concerned. The skittish male might have been suggestible, but he didn't really fit the profile. He had always come across as very submissive, and to outright defy his King seemed a little far fetched. Then there was Ace. A strong, domineering sort. It was entirely possible, since Celandine knew little to nothing of the relationship he shared with their lead female.

Each possibility led her in another direction, dead-ending as she hit another series of unanswered questions, until she hit her last. If both Aesire, and Aponi carried the same disgusting scent, then who would father the stand-in-queen's litter? Somehow she found ways of dancing around the answer, blinded not by naivety, but by sheer disbelief. No, of course Takis was too young, and her father? Even less believable. It had to be Ace, she was sure of it. After all, Phineas wouldn't have accepted a woman who carried such a burden with her.

"Don't toy with me." The snark in her tone was unmistakable, as she was sure that Aponi was in no condition to fight. "Ace? Tannis? A loner?" The options were there, Celandine just needed her to pick one.

The snark in the yearlings voice was undeniable but easy enough to ignore considering Aponi knew she was about to steamroll her. It took every inch of her being not to smirk down at the white woman, the pleasure she got in this moment of anticipation was tantalizing. Feigning a look of concern the silver eyebrows shot upwards as if the girls words were surprising. Pulling her body off of the rock the expectant mother left her perch, stepping forward towards Phineas' daughter. As she got closer the brows pulled together and she frowned, "You mean your father hasn't told you?" Suddenly the blue eyes widened dramatically, her whole performance was going very well if she had to say so herself. In the end she would come off the good guy who had let a secret go by mistake and the Argyris man would come off the bastard who had left his daughter out.

Gasping as if coming to the realization of what she had just done Aponi took a step backwards, "I am so sorry, I just assumed Phineas had told you, your siblings all know I just thought you would too.... I am so sorry." While true apologizes were few and far between for the proud wolf the words tasted sweet on her tongue now.  The man had basically accused her of being a slut and now he would pay for it. While it had never been her original intentions when she had arrive on the border of the Plateau the Aquila would burn his world to the ground.  Either that or she would steal Aesire's crown out from under her, truthfully the girl hadn't decided which she wanted more.
