Inna Baranski

Inna had made up her mind, she was going to do some exploring away from the den. She felt she was old enough now she could go out on her own if she wanted to. So when she woke up the first thing she did was go to the mouth of the den and waited for her eyes to get used to the light.  It was almost a ritual by this time in her life.  However when her eyes finally did adjust she glanced around trying to decide which way to go first.  There were so many options and so much to see and learn about it was daunting trying to decide what to do and see first.

Finally she thought it was best to just jump right in.  With that thought in mind she bounded across the space in front of the den to an area straight across from it and from there she could see a little deeper into the forest that surrounded the den.  She took her time sniffing at a few of the bushes that were there to see what she could smell before moving on further into the forest . Wondering what sort of things she might find in the forest that surrounded the den that had been her home all of this time.  She also hoped that her mother didn’t come looking for her.  Inna didn’t want to go back to the den sooner than she was ready. She didn’t get too far into the forest thought when a sound caught her attention, her ears swiveled in the direction that it had come from, “Hello?”

It was an unusual day for Kjors to be orbiting near the pack's den. He did not visit often, for his favorite company shared a nest with him, far away from the hubbub of daily pack life. When he did stop by, it was often simply to place something in the pack's cache and be on his merry way again. The man was asocial at best – this did not imply he hated others, for nothing could be further than the truth, but wolf's natural instinct had been overrun by a lifetime of abused trust and poor decisions. Pack life, clearly, was not easy for the one-eyed animal, but it did not seem to stop him from at least attempting to contribute to the Heartwood River pack – not yet, at least.

Today he'd come looking for @Kisla – finding her absent, the wolf simply sought to depart again. Perhaps he would spend his time fishing – if he was feeling particularly forward, he might even begin to explore again. After all, his princess' treatment was taking hold. His leg felt worlds better than it had when the doubt had gripped his mind, festering like an infection left by his injuries. He would have continued on his way, were it not for a small voice.

Curious, the shadow drew to a halt, lifting his head to peer back out of the forest – it was then he realized one of the cubs had wandered out of her natal den. Inna, his mind supplied, remembering the dark pup as the one who'd begun to cry, summoning him to the nest the first time. The elder wolf took a step forward, greeting the princess with a soft chuff. "'lo, Inna. Wha' brings y'out this way? Yer mum know yer out?"

When Inna heard the sound that you her away from her explorations she worried that it might be someone coming to scold her for being out by herself. She supposed they would not understand how boring it was to sit around the dead all day. Everything beyond the den was so much more tempting when there were things to see and do. The most exciting thing though was everything there was to learn about and she meant to learn it all.

Only a moment later a chuff ears as a man steps is her line of sight. When he spoke greeting her however it seemed like a faraway dream that may or may not be real. She finally decided that it had to be since he greeted her as though he knew her. What was disappointing that's a search of her memory did not turn up his name. "Hello," she finally replied her tail swishing slowly behind her. "I remember you but I don’t know your name and I thought I might do some exploring," she said in response to his first question. As for a second she looked at her paws, "No mum doesn't know."

A thought did occur to her then, "Perhaps you could come along then she can't be upset that I'm exploring," she suggested a hopeful note in her tone.

Dark ears flicked forward as the young Baranski princess greeted him, surprised by the drastic increase in her vocabulary and ability to voice her thoughts since last they met. Of course, she was quite young when he'd been summoned to the natal den by whimpers and soft cries, but Inna could hardly be considered anything but young even now. His tail waved once in a general notion of pleasantry, and he dipped his head. "M'name's Kjors, lass. A friend of yer sister's. Karina's," he tacked on, realizing that the pup's littermate was also female. There were now more Baranski daughters than there were sons. (A curious notion, now that young Aleksei had vanished without a trace. Was it simply a yearling's quest for independence and recognition as and adult, or was there something much more sinister afoot?)

However, the elder Baranski siblings were soon cast from mind – the dragon had a much more immediate problem. Kisla was not aware one of her younger pups were out of the den. The simple answer would be to escort the swarthy princess back to her den and continue about his business, willfully ignorant of the fact that she would likely wander off again as soon as he was out of sight. Less practical, though more responsible, he could seek out one of the child's parents – though he had to assume the Queen was absent because she needed a moment's peace, and he had little love for Maksim. Truth be told, he had even less desire to seek out the River king.

Tail swishing, he bent his head down in a short nod. It was safest, he supposed, to accompany Inna and make sure no harm came to her on her short journey. If the alpha found an issue was this, the snake was sure he could find a way back out. "As y'wish," he murmured, dipping his head again. "Where was it y'wanted t'go?"

Inna was sure to commit the man’s name to memory so that she would not forget him.  Mostly when she thought about him she remembered his voice and the way that it sounded since she didn’t have a clear picture of him in her mind.  As she looked at him now standing there before her he did not look at all as she had pictured him.  His claim that he was a friend of her sisters though was a little interesting to her, “Then you must be nice,” she stated with a nod.  After all a friend of her sisters should be nice, someone her parents would like and he was in their pack so that had to mean something too.  At least those were the things that she thought important.

The question of what she was doing and if her mother knew about it had some up.  Inna had hoped to avoid this line of questions had still given him truthful answers even though she hadn’t wanted to answer them at all.  Quickly she had thought of a way to possibly avoid getting in trouble if her mother did discover that she’d had a walk about.  It was simple, he could go with her and since he was a friend of Rina’s she had to be safe with him.  Perhaps he might not even mention it to her mother since he was involved as well.

The wait for his answer to her request was almost torture for the pup, she wanted to get out there and do something.  Finally he did answer though and she was pleased with it, “Great,” she said cheerfully.  His question about where to go did have her glancing around the area that they were in, “Well I hadn’t really thought that part out,” she admitted, “But you’ve probably been to a lot of places right?  Maybe you know of a good place to go?”  She said sweetly.  She thought that since he was older than her she would have a lot more experience in these matters than she and he could give her some ideas.

"Not sure nice is th' word Ah'd use," Kjors grumbled under his breath, raising a brow at the youth. Was this even something he should be discussing with the pup? The male cursed internally before clearing his throat, figuring there must be something else for him to say to the child. "Clever, more like. Thoughtful. Ah teach her. We jes'…get on, pretty well. Two ol' souls, Ah guess y'could say," the dragon muttered before he could cut himself off. Being so verbose was not like him, not in the least. What's more, what he was saying was probably well over the toddler's head – it was unlikely she needed such an in depth explanation of his relationship with the eldest princess. Truth be told, even the subordinate wasn't quite sure how to describe his relationship with @Karina – but why bother putting words to something the Mother had so painstakingly crafted.

No, it was better to let it be just as it was.

Eager to move on to a different topic of conversation, he fixed the youth with another look. Normally, he might chastise her for wandering off with no destination in mind. Today, it only provided another avenue for him to escape his own blundering mouth. The swarthy male gave a short nod and glanced over his shoulder. "Well, there's th' Lavender Ethos. Real quiet place. Good fer thinkin'. Good fer spirits," he hummed, wondering if the child would be able to sense her littermates lost and laid to rest in that very ground. "How's tha' sound?"

Inna wasn’t really sure what he meant when he’d said that he didn’t know if nice was the word that he would use.  So far in what she knew of the man he did seem nice.  She listened to the words that he was using as he went on.  “It seems you are a good friend to my sister and I think that is good for her,” She told him.  Inna thought felt that she should want her sister to be happy and if Kjors could help her with that then he must be a good friend indeed.  Every one needed to have good friends that they could count on, at least that was Inna’s thinking on the subject.

The subject of their conversation changed from her sister to where exactly to explore and Inna’s inquiry as to if the man knew of a place they could go was answered.  She gave his suggestion of the Lavender Ethos careful consideration.  She didn’t know what the place was so it seemed like a perfect place to go, “I think that sounds like a perfect place to go,” she told him happily since they now had a place in mind. “So, um, Which way is it?” She asked curiously.

Kjors hummed softly, amused by the princess' overall enthusiasm for…well, everything, it seemed. He wondered idly how the swarthy Baranski's opinion would change if she knew how the pair spoke of the newest addition to the clan, both before they were born, and afterwards. Naturally, he would never wish harm upon any of Kisla's children (even if they were Maksim's children as well, by default), for he did respect the queen if little else, but he already had a favorite among her daughters, and such a thing was not about to change, not so easily.

The male allowed himself a wry smile.

Who was he trying to fool? It was unlikely his affectionate allegiance would ever change at this point – the Mother had sent him to Karina in a time of dire need, separated and shut down by Urotho, he required a renewal of faith. Meeting the princess-gone-priestess was practically his own personal renaissance.

Tipping his head, he gathered himself and nodded outwards, away from the pack's densite and general common grounds. "Along this way. Out a bit. Quiet there, though. Very calming." Kjors wondered if part of that was the presence of all the little purple flowers – Karina had told him once that the plant had that sort of effect on wolves. But that seemed a bit beyond a puppy's interest, and he tipped his head towards Inna as he slowly lead her toward the area. What-- What did a puppy want to know? "You go out much? With yer folks?"

Inna Baranski

Though she was still young Inna thought that she knew what a good friend was and she had thought that she had found that in her brother Orren.  He was very good to her and she felt that he would do anything for her if she asked just as she would do for him if she could.  He was much bigger and knew a lot more than she did so she was sure that he could accomplish much more than she could.  Inna hoped that one day she be able to accomplish the things that her brother could.

Kjors had mentioned a place that they could go to explore which sounded very interesting the youngster.  The way that he spoke about it made her curious about why it was so special and she was eager to go to this place and see if for herself.  It was a place that was also away from the den, a new place that she learn about.

Inna glanced in the direction that the male had tipped his head.  She wondered how far in the direction that he had indicated the area lay from the den.  “Do you go there often?” She asked curiously before she followed as he led her to the place called Lavender Ethos.  As they made their way to the new place he asked about her getting out with her parents, “A little I suppose,” she said, “But it’s good to get out with others too.  I can meet them and get to know them.”
