Poison Path heard it screaming out your name

But I set fire to the rain, watched it pour as I touched your face,

It had been peaceful within her den, which used to be Poison Path's old den that she now reclaimed as her own. She kept old pelts and furs from prey she had caught and found discarded within the caches, making her space warm and comfortable. This was one of the only places she found solace and peace. It wasn't that she was trying to live in the past, Athena just felt comfortable here within this rocky den. That was until she heard the god-awful screeches of the flocks of birds that inhabited themselves within the pines around her. Emerging from the den, her white skull looked up into the trees at the black cloud that swarmed the sky, leaving a shadow on the ground at the shear size of the flock.

Grumbling to herself, she barked at the birds to try to get them to fly elsewhere, but that only succeeded in making them louder. Their screeching ringing within her eardrums. Baring her teeth in frustration, she trotted to the nearest pine that had magpies swarming its branches. Jumping onto her hind legs, her front legs against the trunk, the ivory woman barked loudly up the tree trying to scare them away. She succeeded in making a few fly away, but they simply flew over to the next tree. "GO AWAYYYY!!" She shouted at the black and white birds, her frustration at their noise getting to her.

Well, it burned while I cried. 'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

A border patrol had seemed like a good way to start the day especially with the chill in the air despite the fact Kajika had not wanted to leave the comfort of the den. He wasn't exactly sure how long he'd been on patrol when a realization suddenly hit him stopping in his tracks. Looking back in the direction he'd come from then to the scent marker he'd just come across it had occurred to him that he hadn't come across Des's once during his patrol and as he thought more about it he hadn't seen her in quite a while. It didn't make any sense to him even though he knew the reason why he hadn't found her scent or seen her was because she was no longer in the pack. That couldn't be though, she loved Fallen Tree Cove and she wouldn't leave him. Kajika decided another explanation was she'd been sent on a scouting mission and just hadn't returned yet. As he was trying to convince himself of Des's whereabouts his ears perked bring him from his thoughts. That was when he actually took in his surroundings and saw that he was near Poison Path and the place he and Des had sparred. The sound that had brought him from his thoughts was the screeching of birds and barking. Deciding that he should investigate he made his way closer to the sound and where the barks had come from. When he was closer he heard a familiar voice and a moment later the figure of the white female came into view. "Athena," he said trying to speak loud enough to be heard as he approached her, "Are you okay?" He asked though it seemed with the situation he'd come across that it was pretty obvious she wasn't. His gaze had gone to the trees above them and he finally saw the size of the flock of birds that was causing all of the racket and wasn't exactly sure what was to be done to get them to stop.
