Halloween RE: Nineva, an exceedingly large toad crosses your path.
Nineva didn't always stay within the sanctuary of Grizzly Hollow, despite the wealth of knowledge there was to absorb within its borders. Sometimes she yearned still for something different, and so she wandered outside of it all. Most often when this urge struck her, she brought @Kenelm with her. Occasionally, she chose to depart on her own to enjoy a spot of quiet solitude, to witness without the whispers of another within her ears. This day had brought with it a longing for the latter, and so without accompaniment, Nineva set out to explore Cedarwood Forest.
When she discovered Jasper Rocks, she recognized it instantly as the perfect scenario in which to test and hone her fishing skills. Yet without a teacher, her time spent would not be fully utilized, and she began to wish that she hadn't opted for seclusion. Regardless, she would still attempt all the same, but she swiftly discovered that the feat of fishing was far more difficult than she would have imagined. With her forelimbs thoroughly soaked, she sat shivering at the water's side, staring determinedly within the clear depths of the water as she methodically worked to commit the location of this perfect place to memory so that she could bring with her a talented fisher from Grizzly Hollow to show her the secret.
Yet something stirred within the forest to her back, abruptly disrupting her concentration. Her ears swiveled round to face the sound before her head turned so that her eyes may join them. Fear did not yet poison her system, curiosity instead the most prominent feeling within the young girl as she waited expectantly for whatever lurked beyond the yellowing brush to show itself. For a moment further there was only silence, and she was made to wonder if perhaps she had imagined it. No way, her confidence quickly countered, and this was proven when a large toad emerged from the leafy grasp of a bush to plot onto the soil before her.
A gasp fled her jaws as the brown, bumpy beast was gigantic in comparison to all the other toads she'd ever known. They had all been small enough to cover with her paw, even she was smaller, but this one was a foot wide, its sides bulged and taut with their heaving mass. Rising to her paws, she was apprehensive about approaching only out of fear that it might become startled and try to escape her. However, after each careful step closer, it became more and more obvious that the creature's large size lent to it some kind of confidence, as he seemed thoroughly unperturbed by her presence. If only the guys back home could see this... ! Maybe, just maybe, she could herd it back to them...
