RE: Magpies have overrun the forest!
Partly cloudy, 11F/-12C, midday. Anyone is welcome!
Warning: Language.

“Mother fuck!”

Kjell had only turned around for a few moments, setting his newly won pelt to the side while digging after a plant he thought to bear medicinal roots, when the ruffle of feathers behind him caught his attention. Once he’d whirled about, he realized a small tiding of magpies had descended upon his prize, picking and plucking at the individual hairs. Nasty little thieves! A roar ripped free from his throat as he charged the murder of birds, teeth snapping violently. While the magpies scattered, they all managed to escape without so much as a ruffled feather.

A moment later, the wolf realized one of the pesky creatures had made off with his rabbit hide. Kjell cursed again and gnashed his teeth, stalking in an angry circle while he shouted obscenities at the birds in the nearby trees. Some, it seemed, took offense, for a handful of the magpies left the safety of their perches to return to the scene of the crime, but instead of looking for more valuables, they simply looked to the swarthy male. Talons grasped at tufts of fur, tugging as they departed quicker than the dragon could whirl around and snap his jaws. The hunt remained fruitless, but the birds certainly seemed to be having their fun.

Hexamora Beauvau

The morning had been a quaint one as ivory limbs followed one of three coursing creeks that intercepted the Sacred Grove, opting to continue along the center path which divided the grove in two after departing from Bramble falls; the main source for the flowing water. A single pine green iris constantly darted about, sometimes watching the unique heart shaped leaves in their fiery coloration float along the water's surface. Other times shifting towards the visible treeline as more magpies than she would have liked to notice hobbled about the branches, or made an awful racket attempting to communicate with one another. What those pesky birds could possibly have to gossip about, Hexamora was at a lost.

Ivory limbs lackadaisically followed deeper into the northern portion of Relic Lore by the guidance of Heartleaf Creek, the plush making of her tail swaying contently at her hocks until a sudden and unexpected roar of sorts breached the air. Now, who could have made that? Paws were swift at halting abruptly in the wake of the noise, skull angling in such a way to allow the only functioning optic left a chance to survey the direction the sound had originated from. A perplexed expression wrinkled furrowed brows. Nothing out of the ordinary greeted the wraith pelted woman in the immediate moments following the strange roar, a simple shrug of her shoulders brushing it off as a simple tug of her leg by her own imagination. How wayward it could truly become after enough hours were spent in solitude.

"It's probably nothing. Move along." She reassured herself only to be proven wrong shortly after her coral tongue released such hope, a single paw barely capable of lifting to resume following the water source. Faintly, but still audible came the cursing and the echoing of gnashing teeth causing pearly tinted guard hairs to bristle habitually. No wolf aside from herself was in sight, yet Hexamora could not deny her ears had heard what they had this time. This was not the handy work of her tricky imagination. Someone was surely nearby and the small arctic wolf was hellbent now on finding out who they were.

Embodiment upholding a hunters crouch one limb after the other unfroze from their current position to begin stalking toward the treeline, ebony nose twitching to currently serve as a better tool in this investigation than her limited line of sight. No time at all had to pass before Hexamora weaseled her way into the confines of a local shrub bush, single eye wincing on occasion when a rouge branch managed to jab her in just the right spot upon her sides. A small opening in the vegetation allowed the wraith like woman an unobstructed view of whom had made the noise while remaining covert.

Just ahead a swarthy coated wolf; a male guessing by the sheer size alone, stalked in what appeared to be an angry circle of sorts. Theoretical steam billowing from ears and flared nostrils as more obscenities were shouted onto the air. Who, or what these foul words were directed at she didn't know until a narrowed lid caught the man glancing towards the canopy above. Instinctively her own gaze followed suit, catching a glimpse of the hoard of magpies squawking from their protective perches. Some of which must not have liked the language this brute was using as more than a few dive bombed to grip tufts of fur then just as swiftly escape the empty snapping of jaws. Not a single ruffled feather to be seen upon the two toned birds. The same couldn't be said about the dark pelted man as his hair stuck about in every direction imaginable.

What a sight to behold. In the light of one's misfortune, another found entertainment. A welcome relief to Hexamora after her ungodly embarrassing encounter with Nathaniel back at Bramble Falls. She would lose her self control, though, if one of the magpies bestowed a shitty gift upon the infuriated wolf. The Beauvau woman was definitely going to stick around and watch what possibly unfolded next, especially when one had front row seats as prime as the one she now nestled within.

@Hexamora was not the only one enjoying herself – the charm of magpies (and Mother help him, but these dastardly birds with anything but charming) seemed to be having a good go of the lone wolf as well, chattering and calling as they swirled above him in a cloud. It was one thing to irritate a wolf, but another entirely when it attempted to fight back, leaping into the air with snapping jaws. The braver birds seemed to make a game of it, darting down to tug on an ear or the tip of his tail while he whirled and growled, paws striking the earth like the steady beat of a war drum.

He was completely unaware of his surroundings, the new voyeur included. Ears soon pressed flat against his skull, protecting them from sharp little beaks, though his plush winter coat seemed to remain fair game. Kjell sprung upwards again, and this time, his ivory teeth caught on a bird’s wing, throwing it to the ground before it stumbled away, fluttering awkwardly back towards its perch.

“Take that, you fuck!” he roared triumphantly, tail swinging behind him as the others seemed to give pause. “Serves you right.”

But it didn’t do much to help him win his rabbit pelt back, did it? “Now, get back down here, thieves.”

There was no preventing the sound of whimsical giggles from saturating the dried shrub currently serving as a cryptic hideout for the glacial pelted woman at the sight ahead. Hexamora's ivory clad skull lowering to press her snout into the plush pale fur of her chest in hopes of muffling her noises, a front paw draped atop as if the notion would calm her mirthful sounds before the swarthy man could reveal her covert location. The simple motion causing a rustle in the brittle leaves. No doubt her cover would soon be blown if her laughter could not be contained.

Where once teeth gnashed on empty air they now met the sleek ebony feathers of an unfortunate magpie. A vibrant green iris widened in shock as the tides shifted before her very eye, an event intense enough to cease all laughing until the spiteful words began to flow once more followed by a triumphant roar. Rounded ears splayed back against her skull momentarily in the wake of the deafening noise, a small downfall to owning the rights to such privilege seating for a show such as this. There was no way she could keep hidden any longer.

A bemused smirk began to tug at the leathery corner of her lips as ivory limbs pulled her frame out from the brush, doing well to keep @Kjell and hoard of feathered fiends within her single line of sight. Silence ensued from closed beaks, beady black eyes narrowing to watch this new comer on the scene and keep tabs on their previous toy. "Tsk, tsk. How do you expect to get what you want with such a dirty mouth?" A sickly sweet tone oozing off every syllable uttered, paws carrying Hexamora in a wide arch to keep a safe distance between them. As amusing as his conflict with the birds was to the arctic bred wolf, that did little to change the fact he remained an unpredictable soul.

The ghost made herself known.

A one-eyed ghost, even. There was a story behind that, Kjell knew, but he hadn’t the time (nor the focus) to ask the newcomer. Most of his attention was still on the birds, after all, and his stolen prize. That they’d likely ruined the rabbit pelt was beyond his interest – it was the principle of the matter at this point. No one was allowed to steal from him and get away with it, even if they did have wings. One member of their foolish flock had been punished, but there were so many other magpies above. So many other opportunities.

So many soft feathers, he thought with a hint of glee, and his mind raced with the possibilities.

His gaze shifted back to Hexamora, and he offered the rugged woman a toothy grin, one that spoke in both violence and subtler intentions. “You got a better idea, shadow?” he asked the stranger, eyes dancing as he glanced back at the squawking creatures. “’Cos I don’t think they plan on comin’ down until I coax ‘em. Or make ‘em angry.”

And now that he’d figured out how to sweep one clean from the sky, it seemed quite reasonable to him. “You want some bird?”

OOC! Here

Slowly her vulture like circling eventually came to a halt near the base of the tree currently buzzing with the squawking of magpies, keeping the deep chocolate hued brute well within the confines of her single line of sight. An amused smirk soon settling upon her countenance. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't." Honeyed tone once more coating her muttered words. Had she a better idea, perhaps, but watching this man struggle over winning back a petty pelt with a flock of birdbrains was such a lovely confrontation to witness. Pale haunches lowered to the ground in a seated position while a plush tail draped neatly over her paws to conceal them, calculating orb trained on the brute. This was a much better seat than from behind a pair of bushes.

An ivory brow quirked skyward as an equally pale pair of audits swiveled forward in interest when Kjell insisted on continuing his provoking of the two toned birds with more idle threats. A subtle eye roll on her part. Obviously her unspoken idea that floated across her mind was already beginning to prove more productive at winning back the damn rabbit pelt. "Please, wake me when the excitement begins again." A sarcastic tongue curling yawn parted her jaws. Didn't he know magpies loved things that shined? Seriously all he needed to do was find something shiny like a wet rock from the creek and the birds would all but forget the pelt, their attention focused solely on their new coveted precious. Sometimes it took a woman to get things done, but Hexamora wasn't about to cut her entertainment short.

If she wasn’t going to help, she could at least cut the comments from the peanut gallery. One ear flipped backwards as he spared her a brief look, expression one somewhere between generally unimpressed and mildly amused. Were he in the opposite position, Kjell wasn’t certain he wouldn’t do exactly the same thing as the stranger. Surely it was a sight to see. He simply didn’t care to be the spectacle. Glancing up at the magpies and their sylvan home, he freed a snort before drawing away. His prize was lost, now. Even if he did get the rabbit pelt back, it’d be in terrible shape.

Turning towards the ghostly woman, he trotted a few steps forward and tossed his head in her direction. Several lengths stood between them – her one eye was a badge of willingness to fight, was it not? One never could tell with a stranger.

“Y’want fun – y’gotta make it. But if y’think catching birds is borin’, I’d like to see what you do for fun,” Kjell challenged her, his orange eyes sparkling like twin suns against a midnight sky. There was honest curiosity dancing across his face, the sting of wounded pride already fading with the quieting crows of satisfied magpies.

Yeah...Hex has a mind of her own xD

Sadly it was Kjell that decided when the woman had had her fill of entertainment on his behalf. The chocolate pelted man disregarding the chattering magpies with a snort before drawing away from their gathered flock upon the tree top to now adorn his undivided attention upon the arctic bred woman. A single optic narrowed and watched in close scrutiny as the brute advanced only to leave several lengths between them, pale audit twitching idly when he began his speel about how you had to make your own fun if you wanted to experience it. For Hexamora, catching birds was definitely not her idea of fun, but the challenge of what she thought was fun did spark a reaction.

"What do I like to do for fun, you ask?" Gradually her slender frame rose to stand upon all fours again, ivory tail whipping from side to side at her hocks while her pale limbs began to circle the other in a vulture like manor. Green hued iris focused entirely on the brute with each completed round, every rotation slowly bringing her embodiment closer to his until the tips of their hairs could barely brush against each other leaving her blind side exposed to the tree line while her tail lifted to caress the underneath of his muzzle. "A woman such as myself never reveals such secrets in words. Why don't I show you instead?" A sultry smirk graced her ebony lips. With the magpies forgotten if this man wanted to know what she did for fun, oh she would show him alright.

“Sure did,” Kjell drawled in response, raising one brow. What was she, stupid? He knew what he asked – she didn’t need to parrot it right back for him.

As she drew herself up, the male took a moment to observe the pale frame. She wasn’t exactly his type, he decided, even if he did prefer wolves of a fairer coat than his own. It was the contrast, really – all the wolves in his family, in the Ered Luin pack, even, were of dark coat, but it black or various shades of brown. The woes of a pack full of timber wolves, really.

He did not flinch as she started to pace around him, instead only offering a raised brow as she paced. He wasn’t sure if it was curiosity or an actual attempt to intimidate him, but in either case, he was not concerned. Shoulders remained in a casual sling as he narrowed his eyes, wondering what the stranger was actually intending to offer. His instincts suggested in was not the company of a fair woman, but probably something much more…violent. She’d been enjoying watching him struggled, after all.

So he shrugged. “Consider me curious,” he drawled in response. If it could kill a cat, it could probably kill a wolf…
