"That's fine," Spieden said with a nod, feeling neither relief nor disappointment in Aponi's choice. Things were already enough of a mess, what harm could another litter be.
"I just ask, if you leave, please take anything depending on you with you. Or let me know where you've gone so we know where to start looking for a body." She added with a snort that could perhaps be a laugh, the only real sense of humor she had seemed to be of the gallows sort. It had already been a similar conversation she'd had with Naira, but she would be remiss to not deliver the same message to the younger woman.
"Probably seems obvious enough, but apparently it's not common sense. Never did find Drift and Sahalie's mom." Spieden explained with a shrug. They'd done all they could to find any remnant of her, living or dead, and Triell had gone the extra mile past that. Whether the deranged wolves had broken the mother enough that leaving her children behind seemed an option, or some ill fortune had claimed her outside their borders and nature quickly covered, they would probably never know. But what Spieden did know was she'd be damned if she would get stuck in the same situation again.
