— Shadowed timbers rose, their fingers reaching towards the heavens in a desperate effort to touch the glittering canvas above. To some they might have appeared threatening, maybe even frightening as the loomed over any creature that dared to venture out in when it was the domain of darkness and the murderous moon. And yet at least one canine seemed comfortable with this aspect of the world, alert to the pale eyes that blinked in the azure gloom. Deep russet audits flickered to every sound, to any rustle that might trigger a twitch in a nearby brush. Her muscles ached, her limbs screamed in protest of her movements from her long adventure. Wounds would heal, aches would fade. It was the loneliness that had consumed her soul, wishing that she had a companion over the long days and even longer nights since her banishment. Was that a year ago?

— Copper gaze seemed to vast blackness, her eyes had already adjusted to allow her sight to see past the young and old timbers that seemed to surround her but that was not what caught her attention. It would seem the flickering insects were out, though their movements were more sluggish due to the change in season. Lightning bugs seemed to dance, encircling her as a smile seemed to play with her walnut colored lips. She would always love these tiny creatures, gleaming canary lights that resembled something in fairy tales that are whispered to children.

— A gentle yip seems to roll off her tongue as she allowed one to slowly land on the tip of her nose, she looked down her snout to see it. Crossing her eyes in the process, "hello little one," she whispered as she tried not to scare off the creature that flickered on and off on her nose. She hoped he would stop moving so that she could resist the urge to sneeze even further.

Larkspur Ritter
Takes place 7/18

Larkin was restless. He tossed, he turned, he would lay this way and that. He tried being in the dirt, then in the grass. He'd tried to sleep on top of one of the large roots at the base of the tree he called home. He had even tried to pretend he was sleeping, in hopes that doing so would make him actually fall asleep. And yet, nothing. He was wide awake, feeling jittery and irritated. And tired, which was no help to his usual sourpuss self. It felt like hours had passed that he couldn't seem to fall asleep (his numerous day naps might have had a helping hand in that), until finally the silvery man just got up. Slowly, though, with his injured shoulder he wasn't going to be doing anything quickly. But a walk in the darkness might tire him enough so he could return and fall asleep a little easier. Plus, he hadn't had the chance to really explore the Spectral Woods.

He walked slowly, the pain in his shoulder not allowing him a peaceful, brisk walk. He had to be careful where he stepped, as the mist that hugged the ground made it hard to see where he was going. A firefly kept him company, though hardly managed to light up the way. And then there was a girl, one that didn't smell like the familiar home of his pack (it still felt weird to call the Bend his own pack). In fact, Oak Tree Bend's scent wasn't so strong where he was. He must have passed the borders. The bug settled on Larkspur's nose.

Snap! He killed the thing between his teeth, then decided it was disgusting so spit out what was left of the firefly. Lark didn't think that the glowing bugs were magical, or beautiful, or anything really positive. They were bugs, they were annoying. "You're getting a little bit too close to my pack, girl," might as well run her off before she did something stupid, and pulled him into it too. Somehow, it all felt ironic to him.

Probably because him trespassing was what had gotten him into the mess he was in himself.

— He continued to wiggle, minuscule movements that tickled her almond touched nose with small toes. She fought for control over her senses, her rust kissed ears fell against her skull causing a few lightning bugs to scatter from her crown. Must not sneeze, must not sneeze. It seemed to be all she could chant inside her mind, over and over again so that the creature would not be disturbed from his dance. "you should really stop moving," the female knight murmured under her breath. A sigh of relief and sorrow seemed to escape brown hued lips as he finally took flight, it was not like she wanted to rid him from her nose but he was reaching his end if he was to keep up with his movements. Instead it was the sound of another, the voice of someone foreign to her ears.

— Colorless orange eyes moved from the male firefly that was now lazily dancing about her brow as she settled reluctantly on the new form. His eyes showed a form of distaste, a crisp and sharp blood-orange that caused her lower her ears once more before narrowing her own carrot colored eyes. His tone came similar to the way hers did when she first met someone of the male sex, harsh and guarded. The sharp smell of dried blood and the possible thought of infection caught her attention but it was not something she would comment on now, first she had to deal with a rather overprotective male of a pack.

— Her attention was fully on the alabaster form of someone obviously bigger than her but injured, someone who thought to state something that she already knew just by a simple test of the air around the ghost filled forest. "Is it now a crime to be near a territory?" She questioned with an equally harsh tone, she did not find his abrasiveness very warranted. "Wandering around outside of your pack while injured is not very wise you know." If we were stating facts that were obvious to the eye and nose, she would add her two cents as well.

Larkspur growled in response to the golden girl, "Without a reason to be, it is," or it might as well be. She could frolic around fireflies anywhere else, he was certain that the pests wouldn't be so hard to spot. Of course, he probably shouldn't have been making whether or not someone trespassed any of his business, but he did. He was tired, and even more irritable with the unwanted company. All he'd wanted was a nice, peaceful walk. Instead he got... back-talk.

His jaws loudly snapped in the air, barely avoiding chomping down on one of the glowing creatures. "I'm not in the mood for any of your shit, little girl," was he ever in the mood for games? Maybe when he was on the other side, and when he was well rested and without an aching shoulder. A growl continued to rumble in his chest, his fur standing on end and making him look slightly larger than he was. Realistically, he could be knocked down by even a pup, but Lark wouldn't be Lark if he didn't put himself in situations that he knew he'd be on the losing end of.

His teeth angrily clicked together a second time. "Go on, then. If you don't have any business here, then you can play with your," he angrily snapped at another one of the bugs as it attempted to make a safe landing on his face. He felt a pop between his teeth and spat it out, "Friends, somewhere else." She had a whole forest. In fact, she had anywhere but where she was right now to play stupid games.

— It would seem that the ivory creature before her was not in the greatest of moods, his response came with a growl of irritation and to be quite frank. The female soldier did not like it, "Nonesense," her own words ended as the vibration of a threat swell within her breast before leaving her lips. Her tail seemed to flicker behind her with more than just irritation but with blatant anger at the male before her, her lips curled back from her fangs as she flashed those incisors at the injured man. Who shoved a stick up his ass, why must he take out his anger on her? It was all too familiar, reminding her of the last time she encountered the old leader of The Bloodoath.

"My shit?" Just that sentence almost defused her because of how it caught her off guard, almost. Laughter seemed to find its way between her growling as she tried to think of his words, her shit? "I am not in the mood to deal with an over inflated egotistical man, you really should get your shoulder fixed before it gets you into more trouble." Her tail inched higher as a rather harsh smile seemed to play with her brown lips, "If you weren't such an ass.. I could heal your problem but I highly doubt you are willing to ask." She gave a warning growl to the man before her as she tried to hint in how she could help him with his sleepless night, the infection was obviously more than a thought if it was bugging him that badly.

"What is your problem with fireflies, its not like they are bees or hornets." She questioned both harshly and with a snap of her teeth to the air, he seriously needed to calm down. There was only so much she could tolerate.

"Your shit," Larkin quickly spat back. That seemed to tickle the girl, but the silvery man's hard expression didn't leave. He didn't think her bothering him was funny (or, him bothering her bothering him? The whole situation was getting a little complicated), and her giggles were only making the anger that boiled beneath him bubble more. There was little he could do besides stand there and fume, and somehow he wasn't willing to take the blow to his pride and leave. In fact, he hadn't even let himself sit down. He was just standing there, very well knowing he looked like a fool, but unwilling to give up. He never did, really, and this wasn't going to be any exception.

"My shoulder is fine," he snapped. It wasn't, but he felt like being obstinate, "And if I needed any of your assistance, I would have asked," except he wouldn't have, but these were just small details that she didn't need to know. Certain that he wouldn't be seeing her ugly mug (that was a lie, she wasn't ugly, he was just irritated). He felt like a child, glued to where he was. A part of him knew he was being irrational and idiotic, but the other part — that angry, I'm gonna do what I want part — was unwilling to let him. So Larkspur prepared himself to stand and glare and growl all night long, and then some if he needed to.

She wasn't leaving. And on top of that, he could smell that lynx again, which only made the whole mood worse. Lark's teeth grit together, digging his paws into the earth in frustration. It was clear that he may have to really be there for a lot longer than intended, because no amount of glaring was going to shoo her away. "I'm sure you like them because they seem... magical, right? They're almost like floating stars," his tone was thick with toxicity. "I see them for what they are. Bugs. Annoying, and," he flinched when one landed on his nose, "I have little patience for annoyances." Hint hint. Wink wink. Nudge nudge.
