For @Greer and @Isuni but other pack members welcome to join.

I'm where you wanna be
Morganna Archer

Morganna stood at the borders, peach eyes scanning the open tundra as breath came in billowing white bursts. Having had little luck hunting in the daylight hours she had waited until the cover of night to try and find any trace of the bison herd that had skirted their border several hours past but even their wide, deep path had been filled in my the falling snow. This was getting out of hand.

Still they came, and with @Mittani gone to fetch yet more, drastic action would need to be taken. Hell, they might even have to split the pack to expand their hunting grounds. Her lips pulled down in a frown, brows furrowed with all that that might mean. But where would they go? Who would lead them? Perhaps it was time to start planning anyway, just in case. She shook her head to clear the snow that was gathering on her eyelashes and looked out once again.

Morganna thought she could see a wolf up ahead but the wind was not in her favour. She approached cautiously, eyes squinting against the snowfall until she came close enough to alert the wolf to her presence, a low bark offered as she drew closer. Who else was out in this awful weather and why?

Always out in the awful weather these days, it seemed.  If there was some benefit to being raised upon a peak up in Denali, it was a general nonchalance in regard to nature throwing a fit and letting the snow pile upon her back.  This time, at least, Capable had not left Whitestone Monadnock under the misguided impression that she could make her circuit and return to the pack territory before the storm rolled in; she simply did not fear the consequences.  It was nothing like back in the Willows, but rather reminded her of her first home, and perhaps for one of the very first times, in a fond way.  There was something about the ferocity of winter weather that spoke to the core of who the redhead was, and though her eyes watered and her nose stung…she enjoyed it.

Morganna’s low bark, however, piqued her interest.

Dark-tipped ears pressed forward despite the flakes threatening to fall down inside of her skull and she altered her direction, determined trot becoming a more urgent lope as she approached the swarthy female.  “Morganna?” she huffed, sides rising and falling quickly with the effort it took to approach the alpha.  “What’s wrong?”

@Morganna @Capable

While the snow made it impossible for the shadow to blend in, he did not always despise it. An eerie silence came with the snow and it was oddly comforting. The shadow had crept onto the lowlands in the early evening, his long legs pushing through the snow as he scouted the base of the monadnock. Greer was hoping to stumble upon one of the now covered bison trails, but as the snow fall increased they became impossible to track. He snorted in frustration, his breath forming a small cloud before him, as he returned to the rocky base of his home. Their hunting ground was growing sparse as the winter months passed and it worried the slender shadow, especially with Whitestone numbers continuing to increase.

As he clambered up the side of the monadnock a sharp bark caught his attention. It appeared he was not the only one who wasn’t bothered by the storm. His sister was joined by Capable, another Willow Ridge alumni. The storm swirled around them as he approached, his brows narrowed as he studied the two females. As per usual, his lips remained shut. He was waiting for his sister to answer the question he had heard fall from Capable’s tongue. Clearly something was troubling the older Archer—but what?

this girl's gonna break your heart
Morganna Archer

It would seem the wolf she was approaching was Capable, it was enough for her to relax with a sigh as she came alongside the woman, a bump of her shoulder offered in greeting. Before she could answer the question asked, @Greer joined them and she pressed her nose into her brothers cheek in greeting. "I'm worried." She spoke plainly. They had stuck with her this long there was hardly a need for formality between them. "I think we're gonna hav'ter split up, at least fer th' winter. Mittani's gone ter bring more of 'em back." Her own trepidation was clear in her less than enthusiastic tone, and wasn't that a worry in itself? His bold challenge still fresh in her mind she had to wonder how the rest of them would fit with this cohesive little unit, if they fit at all.

There was no real reason to voice why she might be so concerned, they themselves had seen the vanishing herds skirting well wide of the small cluster of packs not even a day between their borders. The lowlands had become a bottle neck with prey on one side or the other but not daring to venture too close to the hungry predators that were growing thin from hunger. "I'd appreciate it if yer could keep an eye out fer somewhere that might suit as an outpost, somewhere we can settle th' visitors..." Away from her children, and away from their hard won caches. @Craw might have expected the two clans to slot together like a happy little family, but Morganna was not so convinced the old and the new would mesh without some slow and steady intergration.

Capable

Greer soon joined the pair of females out amongst the wicked weather, and the redhead offered him a small not of acknowledgment.  One of the founding members of the Monadnock pack, she generally felt he had earned more respect than most of the other wolves amongst their ranks – especially the new ones.  Perhaps it was his simple silence that won her favor, that the male only really said what he felt he absolutely must, and did not have any of those annoying traits like Wraith or Lorcan.

But now was not the time to dissect her feelings on pack members – no matter how many there were these days.  Morganna was right, and the beta hummed her agreement softly, letting the fierce nod do all the speaking for her.  That it was winter made things difficult enough, after all.  Herds had to go in search of better foraging grounds; it was the way the world worked, it was the way things had to be.  But the sudden influx of wolves made it hard to keep everyone fed.

Brows furrowed.  More?  There’s more of them?” she grumbled unhappily, ears pressing more closely to her skull.  Good grief, how many wolves did Craw plan to bring with him – and why hadn’t he just brought them along in the first place?  “Can definitely do that, though.  Prefer to tour around than stay in one place, anyways, but--”  Capable hesitated, mouth twisted into a grimace.  “You think they’ll go?  Away from him, just when they’ve gotten here?”

Greer Archer-Lyall

The shadow returned Morganna’s greeting quickly before she spoke, voicing the worry that surrounded her like a dense fog. His brows immediately narrowed, his lips drawing into a thin line. Strangers; heathens. Greer did not trust this friend of Craw’s—and it was obvious that his sister did not as well.

And, apparently, neither did Capable. His eyes crinkled in amusement at her grumble for she was voicing his own thoughts. He snorted in response, his irritation growing as he focused his mercury gaze on his older sister, her voice filling the snow-filled air once more.

He was taken aback at the idea of splitting up. Where would they go—who would go? The idea made his nose wrinkle in disdain. It made sense. There was not enough room on the monadnock for these new wolves; therefore, they would need to be placed elsewhere. The gears in his head started churning as he tried to recall any places of interest in the vast tundra they inhabited. It would need to be somewhere close; somewhere they could keep an eye on these strangers. As he nodded softly in agreement to the tawny female’s words the corners of his lips fell. It was a thought that had occurred to Greer, too. Would his followers leave so soon? Again, he snorted in response, his brows narrowing darkly. He did not want them here in the first place, but that was not up to him. “Why come?” He asked, suddenly, his words laced with venom.

The unhappy grumbles were not met with any judgement on her part, after all, who the fuck thought it was a good idea to crash a pack in the middle of winter? One already under duress from the season alone. Surely they couldn't expect to be welcomed with open arms... But it would seem that they did. "One's his daughter, he thought she was dead, an old advisor, an' who knows who else they'll drag along with 'em." It could be two wolves coming, it could be 10. She wouldn't know until they got here, but as to the second question...

"We'll just have ter make it the more appealing option." She joked with a smirk. "It doesn't hav'ter be the other end o' th' tundra," Although she would sleep better for the distance, "Jus' far enough away that we won't have ter look at 'em if we don't want to," another smirk, but for all her joking the whole situation left an uncomfortable feeling in her gut. Perhaps it would all go off without a hitch, maybe they would all get along swimmingly, but Morganna had no intentions of repeating the Willow Ridge hostility and going to leaderbash 2.0. No, she wouldn't let it get that far, ever again.
