It had been a few days since he had discovered the path and he'd been eager to find out where it led. The green eyed man hadn't been able to get back to it in past days due to his other duties taking priority. He'd made the time that day to go and follow it as far as he could before he needed to he back. The warrior wanted to do a full investigation of it and see if it would benefit the pack in any way. Once he had discovered a little more about it he could report back to Greer about it and see what the dark alpha thought about it. The pale agouti man looked to the pup as he waited to make sure that she was in fact up for the challenge this path might pose for them. “Well then we should get going.”

She was the first to move toward the path that led down into the cavern but she stopped. Pyriel took the opportunity to slip ahead of her a lead the way out of the place with the underground lake. “It's a little distance from here,” he warned, “But it shouldn't take too long to reach and then we can find out where it goes.” He was confident the pup could handle the journey. “Is there anything you hope to find while we are exploring the path?” He asked turning his head to look at look at Revon to hear her answer.

The little fox waited until he dark-eyed male slipped past her, taking the lead. She followed silently behind him as they ascended up the path, leaving the dark lake behind them. One day she would return—perhaps she would even be lucky enough to have the whole cavern to herself. Or maybe she would convince her silent father to take her, for Revon knew that he would not disturb the silence with mindless banter.

A little distance? Pffff. Clearly her father’s new second was not aware of her frequent adventures. Distance did not bother the little fox—she preferred it. The mountain was a wondrous place and had endless opportunities for exploration, but sometimes she had to travel a little further to get a really good adventure in. She nodded in his direction as they left the darkness behind, her fiery pools narrowing as they adjusted to the change in light. “Nah, not really,” she responded with a shrug, the truth rolling off her tongue with her dismissive answer. “Just like seein’ new stuff.” Her pace quickened as she lined her shoulders up with Pyriel’s, her long legs working hard to ensure that she matched his pace. The Archer princess was curious where this path was and where it led to, for it was another place on the mountain that remained untouched by her creamy paws. If she was going to be a true mountain princess she needed to know (and see) everything.

Not wasting any more time the pale agouti man slipped past the pup and led her out of the cavern. He then took off in the direction he knew the path to be in. His pace was quick and get stepped lightly in his feet, it was a traveling technique that he'd learned while in the blood breakers. It was very good for traveling long distances to keep from getting tired and would serve him well as they traveled through the forest to reach the path. He was a little surprised the pup was keeping up with him so well especially with the pace but he saw it as a good thing. He wouldn't have to stop to check in her but he would dered how long she could keep it up.

She reminded him a little if her father which he didn't mind, he actually liked the dark man despite the lack of words. He was a good one to travel with if one wanted to get lost in their thoughts for a bit. Pyriel doubted the man would mind if they never talked and that thought brought an amused smile to the green eyed man's face. His first question was met with a short answer that didn't tell him anything, “Hopefully it's worth it to come all the way out here. You never know what you will see while scouting.” Her next sentiment was in that he could relate too as he too liked seeing new things. It kept everything from getting boring. “I hope that I can help you to do that today.” Since he'd not been in the path before he couldn't be sure what they would see. "Since you like seeing new things have you considered being a scout for the pack?" He asked her curiously.

She blinked at his response and gave a small shrug, her lips tightening. “I suppose so,” she mumbled as she trailed at the tawny male’s side. It’s why she liked adventuring so much—there was always something new to see. Something she hadn’t experienced yet. Revon could see why her father was always patrolling and wandering around the mountain. It was both soothing and exhilarating, two emotions Revon would not have thought could be associated with each other. “Isn’t that the point of scoutin’?” She asked after sorting through her thoughts, her head tipped slightly to one side. Why else would one go scouting, or exploring? To see the same old boring stuff? No thanks! Revon didn’t want any of that.

“Uh,” she started, a frown forming on her pointed maw, “no. Too young ’n too busy explorin’ to think about borin’ adult stuff.” Another shrug. It was the truth. She didn’t know much about the roles in her parents’ pack nor did she care. Not yet. Being a scout sounded cool ’n all, but she was young. It was possible something could change her mind. She was still trying to grasp of the present. The future wasn’t even on her radar. Plus, when it came time to her deciding on a boring adult role to pursue, she wanted to talk to her parents about it. Not the dark-eyed newcomer. But that wouldn’t happen for awhile… not until she finally grew into her over-sized paws and lanky legs.

There had been many times he'd scouted for the blood breakers in the past but it wasn't his job while in the pack. He was a warrior, that was his specialty. Now that he was in the heights he found himself scouting more and more for food or new trails even for himself to learn the area around the territory. He glanced bat her when she responded to what he'd said as they moved through the forest. He then went back to examining their surroundings and taking mental notes about what he saw. He only gave her question short consideration. “I suppose it depends on the kind of scouting you're doing,” he stated. He'd done scouting to see the whereabouts of enemies, looked for food, found new territory. It wasn't always about seeing new things.

His question about what she might want to when she was older was met with a response in the negative. She had been too busy being a pup and doing puppy things. “Well it is important to enjoy your puppyhood, have as much fun as you can while you can.” One day that boring adult stuff would catch up to her and she would wish for the days of being a puppy again. There were plenty of days he wished he could go back before he'd seen the things he'd seen and done the things he'd done. “There is plenty of time to think about the boring adult stuff later,” he stated as the path lead them around a stand of trees.

Sure, the idea of scouting was appealing. Exploring as a job? It was perfect! But she was young; her decisions changed with the wind. She could like the thought of becoming a scout today, but tomorrow she could decide to pursue the role of a healer, or advisor, or maybe even a hunter! The little Archer still had plenty of time to test our her different options before settling on one. Right now she was too busy being young and irresponsible—aka getting into trouble without actually getting in trouble.

Her ears flicked toward the agouti as he spoke but she did not respond, her tangerine gaze remained focused on the path before them. Duh, she thought to herself as she refrained from rolling her eyes, that’s basically what I just said! Sometimes adults weren’t so smart. The corners of her mouth curved at the thought and she bounded forward, leaving Pyriel behind her, as she continued along the path with her nose pressed to the ground. She maneuvered around the collection of trees, her gaze flicking over to admire them before they returned to the rocky terrain, her brows pinched in concentration.

When the child didn't say anything else on the subject of scouting or roles he let the conversation about it dissipate. He felt the girl was lucky to have choices and be able to wait until she was older to make the decision if what she wanted to do. He'd known from an early age what he would he doing and had even started training for it. Just another difference in this new life he had to get used to and many old habits did die hard. As they came to the stand of trees she bounded ahead of him, “Don't go too far and get lost,” he called after her. The pale man looked up at the trees and taking note of them and their distance from the path he was following, anything he would need to know for future reference.

A scent did catch his attention as he came back to the path. It lead off in the opposite direction of the trees and wasn't too fresh but it was fresh enough. He didn't think he could pass up the opportunity to maybe bring something back to the pack. “I'm going this way,” he called to the pup in case she wanted to follow. He then set about following the scent trail he'd found. With his nose to the ground he stepped off the path and started tracking his potential prey.

She debated on leaving him to his search, for he seemed persistent. Especially after he called out to her, warning her not to go too far as she would get lost. Pfft, as if! She was of mountain blood—it was impossible for her to get lost. And telling her not to go far? That was practically an invitation to distance herself from the agouti. She rolled her eyes and ignored him, her nose still hovering inches above the ground as she scaled the rock with ease.

Plus, the trail was not nearly as interesting as the underground lake she had stumbled upon. The little scarlet Archer was not a follower. She blazed her own trails atop the mountain, searching for her own discoveries. Revon did not follow the paths of others—not unless the paths were made by her parents. She paused, her ears cupped toward the dark-eyed subordinate as he spoke, announcing that he was forking off from the trail she had made. Truthfully, she was not interested. Her curiosity had dipped and Revon wanted to be on her own once more. See ya! she wanted to shout as she continued on her own path, not following anything in particular as she distanced herself from the male…

After his request for her to not go too far he felt the girl had made it pretty clear in her intentions. He debated for only the slightest of moments of whether he should keep going or to take her back to the heights and let her parents deal with her. In the end he made his decision. The recent scent was more tempting than trying to deal with an unruly child.

The pale agouti announced which way he was going to go and she could come or not. His patience for her had run thin. If she didn't want to learn what he could teach her then that was up to her. Seeing that she would not be coming along he shrugged and continued to follow the trail, without the pup along he would have better chances of bringing something back to the cache that day.

She paused, for a moment, tossing her head over her shoulder. The dark-eyed male seemed intent on following his path. Good. Her interest in him had fizzled out and she was no longer interested in where he was going, or what he was looking for. Later, she thought to herself, her ears twitching as they cupped in his direction. The fiery Archer would pursue the path when she was alone, for she was not interested in keeping the male company and engaging in boring adult conversation. Perhaps she would tell her mother and convince her to join her. Maaaaybe. Her lips curled in amusement at the thought, her head falling to the side as she watched the male grow smaller in the distance as he travelled away from her. “Good luck!” She called out to his shrinking shape, her voice holding nothing but sincerity. Despite not wanting to follow him, Revon also knew she was a distraction—especially if he intended to hunt. It was better for both of them if she sat this one out.

With a flick of her tail she resumed her own path, her pace quick and deliberate as she continued to distance herself from him…
