It angered and hurt her that this had happened to her friend's family. Ember shared Kyna's doubts about the Ridge wolves, after having been filled in on the previous confrontation when she and the alphess had spent her night back catching up. That the same scorned man would be blamed for taking away Revon, an assumed act of vengeance, was too glaring of a coincidence for her to not uphold her suspicions. Yet she wouldn't act on her own accord, could only support Kyna and her wishes.
So when she came upon her, smelled the saltwater in her eyes and felt the grief rolling off of her coiled frame, Ember moved soundlessly to comfort her. She curled around her friend, settling her chin upon the other woman's shoulders and held her. She wanted to promise that they would find her child, but knew better than to risk marking herself a liar. Whatever happened, however, she
would see Kyna through to the other side of it.
