Birtie Parlow-Tallis
details on rank challenge vague || @Daighre || February 21, Early Morning, Clear, -12°F (-24°C)

Birtie distanced herself from the borders by heading onto the snowy trails. She was back to keeping to herself. There was plenty for her to do alone. She had already ruffled feathers once so surely she was under watch now. What did Kajika think? Would this put their little deal on the line? A scoff escaped from her as she kept prowling through the brush. Anyone who was bothered by a simple rank challenge did not deserve her time.

She banished her sour thoughts. It would do her no good to hold in the feelings. Granted they might serve as better ammunition for the next round she went for.

The large female was stopped in her tracks at the sound of movement. Her head lowered and ears quickly pressed forward with interest. She had smelled nothing out of the usual but then again there hadn't been much of a breeze to go off of. Without a warning, a small brown form darted out from the brush. A rabbit. Her posture relaxed then as she watched the creature disappear again.

Daighre
His goddamn everything hurt. And it wasn’t like this was the first time he got his ass kicked for mouthing off and he was sure it wasn’t the last, but none of that—none of that—made him feel any better. His muscles were stiff and tired. He wanted to sleep or maybe just curl up somewhere nice and quiet and pass out for a few hours. But none of that was exactly possible.

Not when he was heading north—the literal opposite of where he was supposed to be going—and wasn’t planning on stopping. The mountains were a bust. He couldn’t follow them south unless he wanted to run into the women again or one of her pack mates. And the forests to the southwest weren’t much better, either. Not when the place was infested with friendly faces that he didn’t have the patience or energy for. Maybe he could head southeast and give the mountain a wide berth.

He didn’t know.

Every step was somewhere between mild discomfort and agony. He was so focused on staying upright that he didn’t notice the stranger until he was almost right in front of her. His lip curled and his hackles bristled the moment he made eye contact and it was amazing he didn’t outright snap at her. But what he did do probably wasn’t much better.

She didn’t say anything, but she didn’t need to. Daighre could hear her thoughts loud and clear and he hated them. He was tired. He was hurt. The last thing he goddamn needed was another nobody harassing him. So without a moment of hesitation, Daighre growled—

“What the fuck are you looking at?”

Her tail quickly raised along with her hackles. Who was this wolf appearing out of nowhere and making such vile demands? Her own lip curled back as a growl rumbled from her. Birtie wasn't a social wolf in general. She certainly wasn't about go changing that for such a bitter creature.

Birtie's body posture should have said enough to the boy. "Back off." But if he didn't get the memo he might get another, much harsher than the first. He already looked worn down and she didn't know if it was from travel - considering there was no stink of a pack on him - or if he had treated someone else the same way she was being treated.

Her ears sharply leaned forward, dying to see if the blonde male would dare to speak so vile again. She even went so far as to keep her eyes locked on him.

She didn’t speak—not verbally, anyway—but the raised tail and muted growl spoke louder than words in Daighre’s book. The girl wanted him gone. It didn’t take a genius to figure that out and Daighre was inclined to agree. He didn’t have any business fighting her. Not when he already got his ass kicked and had bigger things to worry about like finding a way home that didn’t involve annoying wolves like her. But something about that sat heavy and wrong in his stomach.

Leaving her alone was a little too much like submitting for his taste. Especially when she was the one escalating the situation with bared teeth and flashing eyes. Maybe if she lowered her gaze and dropped the act he would let her go unharmed. But that wasn’t the case and Daighre wouldn’t—couldn’t—leave her alone until she knew her place.

“What?” He sneered. His fur bristled and he stepped forward. Just one small step into her personal space with his tail raised, ears forward, and eyes hard. If she was smart she would falter and fold. But knowing wolves in this area—she probably wouldn’t. His muscles tensed and he braced himself for the worst.

Scuffle post 1/4 || was discussed with Pinecone

One small step was far too much into her personal space. His word dripped into the space between them like it was drenched in venom. She gave another good snarl back but this time the boy would have to be expecting something else. The large Parlow had been kind enough to warn him in the beginning after all.

Her jaws opened wide as she launched herself at the male. Her goal was to go for the muzzle but she would accept any of his flesh that she could get a hold of. For now, she was not seeking to draw blood. All she wanted was a firm grip to show the loner their place. Birtie was not keen on the idea of letting this wolf get away without teaching him a lesson. He was acting awfully vile so close to the Cove too. It was best she tried to handle him before he pestered any of her packmates.

Her paws would firmly plant into the earth as she centered herself the best she could. This Parlow would not be going down without standing her ground.

Scuffle - Post 2/4.
She took the bait. Her jaws parted, her body moved, and that was all Daighre needed to return the favour in kind. He reared backwards and—fuck. His muscles screamed in protest and he was too slow. He was too goddamn slow and that’s all it took for her jaws to settle around his muzzle. His eyes flashed and he snarled.

Who did she think she was? His mom? Muzzling him like a goddamn puppy. What was next? Was she going to scruff him, too? She wasn’t that much bigger than him and he was going to prove it.

He forced himself upwards and backwards onto his back legs, purposefully unbalancing himself in hopes of dragging her down with him. His head pulled back—which goddamn hurt with his muzzle still trapped between her teeth but like hell was he stopping—and raised his fore paws to wrap around her neck. If she wanted to wrestle, he would goddamn wrestle.

Whoever come out on top was the winner.

Scuffle post 3/4 || was discussed with Pinecone

She landed a grip on his muzzle and her tail flagged upwards. Birtie figured if the boy had common sense then that would have been the end of things. There was no need to go drawing blood if they could find an understanding between them. But the boy pulled back from her grasp and she reluctantly let go.

Birtie felt his leg on the back of her neck but she was rooting herself the best she could, body force pushing up in case he tried to push her down. But from this angle, his underside was exposed to her in all its tender glory. Her neck shifted as much as she could manage and jaws parted seeking to clamp onto the thin flesh that sat between his leg and his stomach on the free upper leg.

The Parlow female had every intention - now - to cause pain.

Scuffle - Post 4/4.
The fight had barely started but Daighre was already getting the suspicion that something wasn’t right. He was unbalanced. Standing on his back legs and at her mercy to be pushed over but she didn’t take the bait. Did she know he was going to drag her down with him if she pushed him, or was she just inexperienced? He didn’t know. She wasn’t falling like he wanted her to.

But what he did know was that his muzzle was free and that’s all that mattered. She went for his undersides. Exhaustion and pain rippled through him, but he was above her with one of his legs still wrapped around her neck. And with a punctuated growl—Daighre pushed downwards and went for whatever he could reach of her head and neck.

Kajika Tallis
Permission to jump in and pp Daighre given.

It was supposed to he a quiet day in the cove, at least that was what Kajika was hoping but then he'd caught the scent of their newest member traveling outside the cove. His curiosity and desire to spend some time with her had his paws following her trail. After the rank challenge he'd been keeping a closer eye on her as he had been Bastet.

He followed up to Poision Path and soon found her with another wolf, a male yearling that was clearly not with another pack. That was good with the way things seemed to he going for the male. The last thing he wanted was conflict with another pack. A loner and one that seemed to be as disrespectful as this one was in Kajika's opinion getting what he deserved.

He didn't see the beginning of their encounter but he saw the beginning of the scuffle and for a moment he let it go on until he felt it had gone on long enough. With tail raised over his back and a growl rumbling his throat he charged the two of them. With the stranger on top of Birtie Kajika wasn't playing any games with him.

He grabbed the yearling like he would an unruly pup, by the scruff, and proceeded to drag him off and away from the pale female.
