Birtie Parlow-Tallis
Marked M for (very vague) spring shenanigans || March 1st, Late Afternoon, Cloudy, 8°F (-13°C)

She lingered outside of the borders like a ghost. Her sides expanded and collapsed with each deep breath. There was an urge to disappear for the season. Her toes wiggled and clenched at the ground in an uncomfortable manner. She did not enjoy feeling like a stranger in her own skin. It seemed her brain couldn't control most of her reactions. Someone approached and her lips would pull back or she'd hear a sound and feel her muscles tense.

Birtie thought she had been getting better at being social. Seemed that progress had been wiped away, though.

With a heavy huff, she began to move. Her pace was slow and strides long. The large female had no idea where she was going but that was okay as long as it was away from the commotion of others.

As the alpha had expected the scent of the females had grown strong seemingly overnight. He was on higher alert for any makes sniffing around the borders that shouldn't be. He was also keeping a much closer eye in his subordinates to make sure they didn't make any mistakes that could cost them dearly. There was one that he kept a closer eye on after his conversation with her. He had certainly noticed the change in her and had given her some space at first.

He couldn't stay away long though he still felt she needed her space and he didn't want to push her. That however didn't mean he couldn't keep anyone else from claiming her as theirs.

He'd spent a good portion of the morning trailing her, catching glimpses of her cream coat through the trees. Idly he wondered if she knew he was following her or if she was so caught up with what was going on with her body that she hadn't noticed him. As she came to the lake he made his presence known by stepping into view. “Hello Birtie,” he greeted her cautiously. He knew well enough she was probably not in the best of moods.

She had no idea she had been playing the role of prey so long. First she heard the small greeting and then her grungy gaze settled on his dark form. Her lip curled for a brief moment before it settled back down. A small growl followed after, rumbling in the pits of her chest. It wasn't one of aggression, though. If anything it was her own greeting. A solidifier that it was indeed her standing out here like a fool.

The large female had halted her movements and had no intention of moving again. If he wanted to be close then he would have to move. For now she stood in place, eyes locked of the muddy colored male.

Nowhere better to be? She called out in a soft tone. Her words were more teasing than they harsh. Heavens knew there was a whole flood of wolves to keep watch over in the Cove but Birtie? Well she could take care of herself just fine.

The dark man greeted the cream woman from the place he'd stepped into the open. A small announcement of his presence in case she hadn't yet detected him. As he watched her he saw the small curl of her lip before it settled back down, his ears perked at the growl that came from her. He recognized it as one that wasn't borne of aggression but more of a greeting.

She didn't move from where she'd come to stand and he took the few steps to close the distance between them. He lightly brushed her muzzle when he reached her.

The alpha chuckled at her question, “No not really, you have a problem with that?” He asked his tone carrying the sake teasing note as hers. The reality was he could think of a million other places he should be but he was choosing to be right there.

The large female didn't move from his touch despite how much it seemed to flare her current feelings. If she would let him, she would aim to gently grasp his muzzle between her jaws. She would only hold for a few brief seconds - if she managed to grab him - before releasing. She had absolutely no intention of putting real pressure on his muzzle or damaging skin.

I don't think so. The Parlow rumbled before aiming to bump her nose against the side of his head, her tail giving a few waves behind her before ceasing movement.

She was glad it was him who had stumbled upon her. Anyone else and she likely would have eaten their tail or ears. Needless to say she hadn't exactly been feeling like the most social wolf around. Hopefully that one small girl would forgive her once all of this blew over. Whenever that would be.

The light brush of his muzzle seemed to be a welcome action that led to her grasping his muzzle gently. His ears came forward as his amber gaze locked on to her. His tail swaying slowly over his back. When she released him he proceeded to lick her chin. He may be alpha but in this instance he was letting her lead the direction of this encounter.

His smile widened at her words, “Good,” he said confidently, “I'm not going anywhere,” he said lowly. The bump to his head lead to him pressing is own nose into the fur of her neck as he took in her scent with a deep breath his tail waving more rapidly.

After a few moments he stepped a little closer before resting his head across her shoulders. He hoped the gesture was taken well, the last thing he wanted to do was push her into something she wasn't ready for. He did however want to convey to her that what he asked of her only days ago was still on his mind, more now with the change in the females.

Birtie was rather pleased that Kajika let her take the reigns in the slightest bit. She knew overall that he was in charge of the Cove and the members. Yet between them, it seemed he was willing to switch roles even if it was only slightly.

Perhaps this wasn't all that bad.

She leaned her head into his side as his own head draped across her shoulders. Wouldn't want you to. Her words were honest but perhaps it was because she was feeling a bit selfish. The information he had shared with her only a few days ago seemed to be more firmly rooted in her mind. She wanted to believe that she truly was the only one, that she needn't worry about any other females. She couldn't let that ease her mind no matter how much she tried, though. The large female wanted to make sure others could smell her in his coat. A warning to stay away from him.

Awfully territorial of her to do but she simply needed to.

Anyone pestering you? She rumbled as her tail gave a slight flick. The thought was simply enough to make her lip twitch in a hidden aggression.

He didn't know what to expect but as each advance he made was accepted he saw it as the possibility that she might be accepting of what he'd asked of her. He didn't want to assume that she had, despite that she had become important to him and he respected her and what she was feeling. Letting her lead was one way that he hoped to show her that.

He felt her lean into his side as she said that she wouldn't want him to go anywhere. He hummed happily at her words. “Maybe we can stay here for the rest of the day,” he spoke softly, “Forget about everything else.” Normally he wouldn't suggest such a thing but the mood she seemed to be in just then he didn't want to leave her alone. He nibbled gently at the nape of her neck as she spoke before a small smile crossed his lips.

“No, I haven't given them the chance,” he answered, “I’ve been following you most of the day,” he whispered into her ear. She had nothing to worry about from him where the other females of the pack were concerned.

I'd like that. Was it the smartest thing to do? Not at all but she wasn't looking for smart decisions right now. She was seeking comfort. She found it somewhere in his musk and his words. The large woman was letting her walls down and it had never felt like more of a risk. She knew well enough that everything did not fall perfectly into place. It took work for things to work. But her unguarded heart could have been convinced of otherwise in that moment.

Her lips tugged upwards at the corners when she heard his next words and the presence of his teeth. Do you wonder if they're jealous? She mumbled softly before moving away from his embrace, inviting him to trail after her further away from the Cove's prying eyes and protection.
