Dull, expressionless, eyes peered about the creek as it came into sight. Her steps were slow and carefully taken, the woman not quite fond of the idea to come here now. A heaviness settled down upon her shoulders, so heavy it felt she would be forced to grovel beneath it. Briefly she thought of Zonta, almost pictured the creature, then reminded herself she was not real. Just a sickening trick of her ill mind.
Slowly she approached, footfalls much heavier than normal. She could see them now, two young pups meeting for the first time. Her and Titan, oh her and Titan. She missed her old companion, her first love, gravely. She could imagine their sinning, the conception of their son near the beaver dam. The heat of him next to her. The last time she had spent time with him...save for one time he briefly showed up to see Daniel. Where had he gone? The world was all too cruel for her to bear in moments like these. The suffocating nostalgia drowning the woman in waves of emotions. She felt lost at sea, struggling to pull herself ashore. With a gasp the woman forced herself to come back to reality, her breathing heavy. If she was going to do this, she needed to get it over with and find that den. Make the visit brief...she couldn't torture herself so.
Finally she met the water, pink tongue slipping out to lap at the frozen over surface. The older wolf felt too weak at the time to busy herself with breaking the ice, their was no point in straining her bum leg. Food was of more importance though, and the sight of a fish swimming beneath the surface tempted the woman...
