Lost Lake someday, somehow

Ocean and flaxen gaze looked out carefully across the Lake that Vuesain patriarch called home. He was not entirely sure what he was really looking for if he was looking for anything that is. His mind had been wandering lately and Aleister wasn't sure what he was to do with the recent revelation he found himself within. He felt his paws were tied and his chance had left him, but it didn't help the guilt that seemed to overtake him every chance his mind dwelled on the subject. So, he tried to focus on something else, give himself a reprieve, but it seemed that wasn't in his favor today.

The forest seemed quiet to the Baranski woman as she made her way through the trees. She felt that in the months since her arrival on the mountain she was truly getting the hang of life there. It was much different than the much flatter lands of Hearthwood or even Driftwood. Still she found that she was rather content. It really helped that she'd found a friend in Aleister and possibly Siyet. She didn't have to feel so alone anymore and she didn't have to live on her own loke her mother wanted her to.

Thoughts of her mother brought her to the lake that morning. She'd been thinking about her more often lately. It was hard to believe that Inna had been gone as long as she had. Sometimes Oksana couldn't believe she'd made it as far as she had without her though she felt her mom had been a good teacher.

What she wasn't expecting was to find Aleister at the lake that morning. Still seeing him did brighten her mood quite a bit. She approached quietly hoping he might not notice her until she was only a few feet away when she finally spoke. {B}"You're not thinking of doing anything brash are you?"[/b) It was mostly a question with a little jest thrown in.

As the serene peace outside tried to calm his stirring emotion turmoil inside, it wasn't until the breeze brought forth the soothing scent Oksana to his blackened nose. She had yet to announce herself, though he could faintly hear her crunching footfalls upon the alabaster snow, Aleister kept his regal posture forward through his gaze flickered their attention to his peripherals to possibly catch her in her approach. At her teasing words, a sly grin reached his lips before letting out a chuckle.

Ah, I'm thinking of many brash things, he returned with a sly smirk as his mismatched gaze looked back towards her. Her presence already lifting his mood. I didn't know you were a mind reader, how interesting... Aleister joked as he watched to see if she was to join him alongside the shore.

She'd tried her best to sneak up on him hoping that he didn't hear the crunching of her paws in the snow. She didn't give up though and finally came to stand just behind him before she finally spoke. Her tone was teasing but she still did worry that like the last time she'd found him he was lost in his thoughts. If that were true he seemed to recover rather quickly as his response to her words was spoken in much the same way as hers.

The Baranski woman came to stand next to him, brushing her muzzle against his in greeting before she spoke again. "I do hope your thoughts have nothing to do with jumping in the lake," again she spoke in playful tones. What he said next brought a mischievous smile to her face. "One of my many talents," she joked along before dropping her voice to a whisper, "I think we should keep that one to ourselves."

Keeping it a little vague as I do not know how this thread is going to go. He is either going to know he has another kid or can only speculate.

Ocean and sunshine eyes closed briefly at her fleeting touch, and he couldn't help but to chuckle roughly at her teasing words about him thinking of jumping in the lake. If she only knew... If it wasn't so frozen, I'd already be in it, he half-joked with a wink in her direction. Though, truly if it wasn't frozen, Aleister would be diving headfirst into the Lake after the interaction he just had up in the mountain.

Her devious smile brought a large smirk to his lips as she insisted it was just one of her many talents. That he could not argue with. At her next words, a light chuckle left his maw as he set his mismatched gaze in her direction again. It'll be our secret, he answered with mischievous whisper in return. On the thought of her talents, his expression grew a little more serious as he contemplated the time they had spent together in the past few months after she had found him lost and defeated after searching for his children's missing mother. The thunderstorms that accompanied Aleister's shadows as seemed to break away within Sana's presence and he couldn't be more thankful for the peace she seemed to bring him.

I do want to thank you for the one talent you continue to share with me, the Vuesain said softly as he looked again to her bright pumpkin gaze.

A slight frown appeared on her face at his words and for a moment she couldn't help but wonder. The smile returned however as she spoke her next words, "How about we put jumping in until it's a bit warmer?" She didn't particularly like the idea of him jumping in the water when it could go very badly for him. It did make her wonder if there wasn't something that was bothering him. "Is there something on your mind you want to talk about?" She asked. She didn't have any expectations instead leaving up to him if he wanted to talk.

Of course Oksana couldn't help herself when he brought up her reading minds. She played along with his joke but the more she thought about it Maybe with him it wasn't hard to know when something was on his mind. He'd pointed out that he'd been much happier the first couple of times they'd meet. The last time they'd spoken he was in a bad place and she'd seen it. Still as he spoke again she couldn't help the smile that remained on her face. "Good idea, wouldn't want everyone to find out." So maybe it's wasn't a matter of reading minds but reading others? Or maybe it was just Aleister.

He surprised her however when he thanked her. She smiled up at him, "You're welcome Aleister. I'm just glad that I can be here for you." She didn't feel that he needed to thabk her when she was glad that he felt he could talk to her. She still appreciated the gesture very much.

Nodding at her suggestion, he couldn't but try to feel a little lighter with his dark friend's presence, but the revelation he discovered was heavy weighted. So, when Sana asked if there was anything he wanted to talk about, he couldn't help but send another rough chuckle in her direction. This woman's intuition was wicked, and he couldn't help but think that perhaps she was truly a mind reader...

Aleister was conditioned to bottling up his issues and dealing with them himself, though mostly they were dealt with poorly. Even with this, he was tempted to shake his head and keep his issues to himself like he has done for most of his life. However, the Vuesain felt he could tell Sana anything and he wouldn't be judged like he would with anyone else. "I... I think," he started roughly as his gaze lifted to her bright gaze before looking out towards the mountain face. "I have another son." Aleister admitted as his ocean and sunshine gaze fell back upon the woman's face, figuring this may be the time he would be judged by the Crow.

 

Oksana became concerned when he didn't banter back with her. Even when he seemed to be feeling really down she'd gotten him to smile. She decided that just coming out and asking might be best. Once she did she left the question hang in the air for him to answer or not. It was up to him if he wanted to talk about it. She did hope that he would so that maybe they could talk through it like they had last time. So that maybe he might feel a little better after they'd talked.

She certainly wasn't expecting him to announce that he had another son. She met his gaze and offered a reassuring smile. "That's quite the revelation," she commented surprised, "I can see why you seem so upset. What do you need Aleister?" She would do what she could to help him. Oksana realized that she didn't know the whole story but that didn't matter. If Aleister wanted to tell her she would gladly listen. What mattered was that no child should be without their father, especially one like the agouti man.

For her to be surprised was truly expected, though Aleister was equally surprised to see her give him a reassuring smile. This was a serious admission and not one that could be easily brushed under the rock. But of course, in typical Sana behavior she asked him what he needed. His companion was only focused on his needs which Aleister just couldn't get over. No one has ever been like that with him, making him think of his own needs first instead of someone else's.

"I... I need to make sure he's going to be okay," he answered quietly, as his bicolored gaze connected with her bright eyes, he couldn't help but feel helpless. @Seri's mother was not an easy one to deal with, but Aleister had this need to make sure the boy was safe. Especially with winter, he would never forgive himself if there was something he could do to help even if his mother didn't want him to.
