Camden Elliot
March 15th, early evening, 40 degrees

Camden had abandoned the poor lovestruck girl early in the morning, not privy to just how hard the woman would take it when she rose and discovered that he had quickly disappeared. It was simply the nature of the season, a fun time for him filled with intoxication and sweet whispers that otherwise were unlikely to lurk… his mind briefly flashed back to the Angel he had met, the woman of Willow Ridge. She had truly been something special, where others had merely been floozies meant to sate a need… she had been personable. She had been aware of him as he was of her.

He did not let himself get distracted further. His paws carried him lightly through the muddled mess of the Orchard, the melting snow leaving puddles of mud behind that he was carefully wading through. He tried not to make too much of a mess. It would make it a hassle to clean later, and he needed to remain clean for whatever ladies he might continue to find this season. He was making his way southeast, the mountains in sight. He was not particularly fond of the mountains, but he was also a man of opportunity.

Perhaps he could find a lone dame stuck alone and looking for some company… he was a man of opportunity, and the Spring truly was his favorite season. It turned out that there were many for him to opportune upon.

Inger
Inger had left @Rayjiek to his own devices while she hunted. Before, when her heat had come, none of the other wolves had wanted her, not in that way. As such, the discomfort and heady hormones were, in her experience, just another thing to be endured. It would never occur to her that her chimerical scent might actually entice others.

As such, when she came across the scent of a stranger, the only thought to enter her head was that perhaps he spoke her tongue too and had answers for her predicament. She pursued his trail doggedly, and called out with a bark when she spotted him ahead of her.

His ventures had been spent surrounded by women. Camden was not entirely sure that there were men left in the world as he had not seen one since his stay at the last pack he sheltered with… and it appeared that it was no different as he wandered through the Orchard, letting the breeze carry him east. He heard the bark, his eyes snapping to the woman who seemed to have a more masculine scent on her though it was clear that whomever it was did not linger with her now.

He offered a bark back in greeting, creeping forward with a dashing smile as always. It would not be the first time he attempted to seduce a wife, assuming the lingering scent belonged to a mate. Surely no one would let a woman out of their sight this season, right? Knowing that a woman’s heat could strike at any moment. Her scent was just as alluring as the rest of them. “Hello, mon cherie. What brings you out this way all alone?” The flirtatious nature and clear interest carried through the tenor of his voice.

Nope. He spoke the wrong languages, and not with the same accent as Rayjiek. Inger grimaced briefly, but was not so easily deterred. His inflection hinted at a question, and she shook her head while lifting and dropping her shoulders in a shrug.

"Hello," she returned the one familiar word amongst the jumble, her own stress clearly different than a native speaker's, "Kan du Norsk?"

The hope was evident still in her green eyes, making it clear that she regarded him as a possible solution to all of her problems.

Her word carried a different stress to it, a frown on his features because he did not understand the words that she was speaking back at him. Oh, this could complicate things… however he would not be deterred because, in the wise words of Jason Derulo, ‘don’t speak the language, but your booty don’t need explaining’. Still, he would try to speak up and find some common ground when it came to their tongues.

“I’m afraid I don’t speak your language, Cher.” He took a step closer, his eyes softening as he peered at her own. They were distinct, and lovely. He could tell there was a yearning, and he would match it. Who said they needed words to communicate? It made things easier, but perhaps simply actions would work just as well.

He spoke again in that tongue she'd grown to despise. All it did was rub in her face her solitude, teased her with being given answers but the inability to understand them. It wasn't his fault, though. She sighed heavily, eyes closing under a knitted brow. When she opened them again, he moved closer and held her gaze. Her head canted. She tried again.

"No Engelsk," she spoke in a broken sentence in an attempt to communicate the meaning effectively, clueless that he had just voiced as much himself.

She gritted her teeth and sucked on her tongue, thinking hard about the other language.

"Water. Go."

She repeated the words in what he assumed to be her own tongue. She did not speak his language just as he did not speak hers. He had encountered harder situations to be in, like bedding a woman when her father came home. Surely a little bit of nonverbal communication would be more than enough to help them through this trying time. He hummed softly, dipping his head as his tail wagged in a friendly manner to try and show a form of communication to get them through this.

Water, go? He tilted his head to the side, the confusion clear on his features as he tried to decipher what she meant. Was she thirsty? Did she know what water meant or was she simply rambling the few words she recognized from his own tongue? Either way, he could not be certain. He slowly took a few steps closer, hoping there would be some other indication of what she meant.

He did not attempt to communicate verbally again, and she wasn't sure what to make of that yet. Plenty of wolves had been very dismissive of her once realizing they could not converse easily. Inger's jade eyes carried a tinge of desperation now, not wanting him to go. He came closer, and she reciprocated.

Inger scuffed at the snow until she found earth, and started to draw crudely with her paws. Two oblong shapes and a line of tiny trenches left behind by her claws that stood between them.

"Here," she pointed to one ovular groove with her blackened paw, then the stripe in the middle, "water," and then the third depiction, "hjem. Home. Go. Hvordan?"

She was trying to communicate, and he looped as she scraped at the earth with her paws. Here. Water. Home. Go. Was she trying to go home? Was that what she was trying to say? He pointed again to make sure he understood. “Here. Water. Home. You go home?” He asked, hoping her grasp of English was enough to understand what his maw and alabaster paws were trying to spell out. It was the only way he knew how to confirm what she said. He wished there was a middle ground, a language they shared in common. He doubted she spoke any French.

He did not know what Hvordan meant. He assumed that it meant understand and she wanted to know if he understood what she was saying. She wanted to go home? He didn’t understand what was stopping her. If her home was on the other side of a river or lake then surely she could swim or find a narrowing that she could cross?

Inger
The stranger remained attentive, pleasing Inger greatly. He spoke to echo her own words, confirming whether or not he was understanding. She nodded vigorously, he was.

"Hvordan?" she repeated, unable to supplement the question with any English. To further emphasize, she pointed with a dirty paw once more, touching one land-representing divot and then 'jumping' over the water depiction to home.

"Hvordan krysser?" Inger attempted to simplify her language as much as she could for him, as though that would help. Too many of their words were so dissimilar, not like hjem and home.
