Global RE: It's been so humid recently it feels like breathing through a wet leaf, you better find somewhere to cool down! AW!

It felt as though it had been forever since she'd been in the lore. So much had happened on her adventure, so much she couldn't wait to shove in Magg's face. She really ought to be over her rivalry with her sister, but given Mona's extended absence it had given her littermates so much more time to grow close to their parents and if she wanted to step in and take the position she deserved she needed to come in with a bang.

But how best to do that? She didn't want to sidle up and spill all her secrets; what was the point, if she told them everything all at once? Best she played things close to the chest, wormed her way in and rose naturally so there could be no doubt as to her qualifications. Her parents were getting older and someone would have to lead in their stead, and Mona was determined that someone would be her.

But first she needed to find a place to cool off. It was too hot to ascend the mountain in the daytime, especially with this humidity. She would make the final stretch of her journey after dark - for now, her eyes lit on a spring and she made for it. A swim would do nicely.

Sovanya Rayvne
Sovanya wanted an idea of where the wolves of the Cove had meandered off to, but this far north she still hadn't picked up a single clue, and there was no justifying going further from the others at this point. As far as she'd spoken with her scouting partner, @Cynder, she'd only intended on seeking for prospects. A shame, but maybe she really would have to let that old bone fall to the wayside...

They'd been headed toward water, its scent heavy in the heated summer air. It glittered between the trees before them, but from the corner of her eyes, at a distance, she saw a dark, wolfish blur heading toward the same goal.

A wicked grin sprung to life on her muzzle, and Sova was off like a shot. She would put everything she had into racing ahead of the stranger and putting herself between them and the little lake. Hopefully, with more distance between her and the other than her and the spring. That smarmy, self-indulgent expression would remain in place, brown eyes sparkling.

Cynder
Why had she agreed to go? It was so hot and humid and the climb wasn't making it any better. Sov had asked her to go scout another pack that was up on the mountain. Typically it was her and Lyx who scouted about but Sovanya had asked her specifically for a "girls day". It seemed like the mountain pack had disappeared with no indication as to where they went. It made this trip even more irritating, no fruit for their labor. That was until they began to follow the sound of water - it seemed like they would find some relief at least.

The gods seemed to be somewhat in their favor as a dark figure seemed to be making their way to the water as well. Sov sprouted a wicked grin and shot off like the wind. A much smaller grin adorned Cyn's own red stained maw as she followed. She'd let Sov make first contact with the stranger while she took up the sentry position. Her preferred position, remaining behind the stranger along the shore. She hoped this interaction would be quick. She wanted to cool off.

Mona was intent on minding her own business, really she was, but suddenly there was a figure between her and her swim with a smug grin. Mona's ears turned back in irritation. What did this girl have to be smug about? She hadn't done anything but run in front of her. She quickly became aware of a second figure behind her and green eyes narrowed suspiciously. The one in front of her seemed vaguely familiar, but so many faces had come and gone it didn't mean anything to her. She wasn't family, and that was the only thing that really mattered.

With an annoyed huff Mona moved to go around her but watched the other woman from the corner of her eye. Her fur fluffed slightly, but she didn't fully raise her hackles. This could just be some obnoxious lady looking to be an inconvenience, and Mona would show her just exactly what that would mean for her if she pressed the issue.

As her impromptu victim's features darkened with irritation, Sova's brightened gloriously with unabashed enjoyment. The girl looked quite a bit like Nash, perhaps how he was now, with far more gray woven through his coat. For no good reason at all, she hoped he was weak. If she couldn't find him and his pack, she could at least pretend for a moment that this wolf was one and the same.

The stranger's gaze moved and her lids pinched, telling Sovanya that she'd picked up on Cynder as well. Awareness didn't keep her from still being outnumbered however. The young Rayvne lady was plenty brazen, but she also knew to only push her luck when the advantage was properly her own. Mostly.

Sova looked past her target to her companion, and gave a jerk of her chin, a signal that meant 'you've been made,' so that if Cyn did end up with a fray to enter she would know she lacked the element of surprise.

Her attention wasn't off the rogue for more than a few seconds. When the other moved, so did Sovanya, but only side to side. She wouldn't be the one to close the distance between them, but she also wouldn't giving up any ground. The game was to block her opponent until she was pressured into a new strategy. Would it be talking? Would it be teeth?

Cynder
Cynder's lithe yet muscled frame followed her companion, though not quite at the same speed. Fast enough to keep up but slow enough that the dark stranger ended up between them. The element of surprise would have been beneficial should a fight break out, but she wasn't particularly trying to hide. Sov's head's up was still appreciated and responded to with a dip of her own red stained chin.

The shadowy girl moved to get around Sov only to find the other woman mirroring her movements. A game. A wicked grin pulled at the twin's own inky lips as she waited to see what the other would do. Her muscles coiled and ready to strike if needed underneath her somewhat casual stance. She kept her tail and head in line with her spine, ready to raise the former and drop the latter should their game become even more entertaining. @Felyx would've enjoyed this outing.
