For @Aideen though if @Cinaed @Flair @Enia want to jump in, they can!

This was nice. But he was slowly going insane due to boredom. Rayne huffed to himself as he lay outside of the den that, deep within, held the growing future of Secret Woodlands. Aideen had asked him to watch over them so she could take care of her leader duties for a short time, without having to worry over them. And well, Rayne couldn't say no, since there was a look in Aideen's eye that told him that he needed to keep resting. And besides, she was his friend. He couldn't say no. The large male had slowly but surely been gaining his strength back but that didn't mean to was back completely just yet.

He stayed within both sight and hearing range of the den that afternoon, staying close as the pups kept poking their heads out and playing at the entrance throughout the afternoon, though they most likely were sleeping now, since Rayne hadn't heard a peep from them in some time, yet he knew they were still within as he had made sure to rest with his face towards the den. And other then the odd nose or large ear poking out since their last play, he had not seen the fluffy little things.

As their gaurdian kept an alert ear out for any strange noises that would cause harm to the young ones, the male rested his head between his front legs. He wasn't going to let Aideen or Miccah down. He would watch over their pups and keep them safe.

But there was a sun spot coming threw the thickets, how he didn't know but all he knew was it was making him feel a little drowsy. Surely Aideen wouldn't begrudge him a little nap? It had been all afternoon that he watched the pups and they were sleeping now as well, after all their play. So surely a small cat nap wouldn't hurt...

No, after you've checked on them. A small voice told him. Peek in and make sure they're all there and then you can have a cat nap. Sighing heavily, Rayne pushed himself to his feet, knowing his inner worry was right. The pups had been too quiet and even though they're weren't capable of sneaking out yet, it wouldn't do to have missed something sneaking inPadding towards the entrance, Rayne lowered his head in and peered in, focusing on the small bundles within the den and taking in the surroundings, satisfied nothing but the pups were within.

It didn't mean something couldn't sneak up behind him, now his attention was else were...

She loved her children, deeply and unconditionally. But they were hard work, ever hungry, ever curious, and with three of them, hardly ever asleep all at the same time. She adored them, each with their own quirks and personalities, drawing her attention in their own different ways. It was exhausting at length though, keeping up with their explosive energy. She was immensely lucky to have @Miccah and the rest of the pack to help her, allowing her breathing room in between dealing with her furry bundles of joy. Even a mother needed time to herself. And Rayne had been her number one helper, often taking over for the hours in the middle of the day when the puppies were well fed and mostly asleep, allowing Aideen to stretch her legs and keep up with her pack. He was always happy to oblige, though the former medic knew that her friend longed for something more, being idle was bothering him to bits, even if he never said it, she knew. For now he was still recuperating though, and he needed this rest. So she gave him the children to watch over, so at least he had something to occupy his time of ordained rest.

Meanwhile, Aideen had gone to check on her medicinal den, enjoying the peace and familiarity of working through the stored herbs and dusting out. @Nina had been keeping it up well while the new queen took on her leader role and cared for her family, but there was always things to do. Tearing herself away, much earlier than she would have liked, she then moved on to care for herself, stopping by a small waterway to drink and look over her fur; It got so horribly messy after a night with the little devils. Finally satisfied, she smiled at herself in the rippling reflection, for all her complaining, she was utterly happy with her existence. As a last stop on her way back to the den, she picked up a couple of fish from one of the bigger caches, sending a loving thought to @Duckweed who was undoubtedly responsible for putting them there.

She entered the clearing on light paws, smiling at the sight of her friends russet tail sticking out of the den. Dropping their meal to the thicket floor, she grinned, calling in a soft voice not to disrupt what sleep her children were hopefully in the middle of; "Looks like you survived another day!"

Rayne Flint
Rayne nearly leapt out of his skin when Aideen’s soft voice called out to him but he managed to catch himself before he banged into the ceiling of the den. Carefully extracting himself from the den, Rayne straightened himself out and grinned sheepishly at Aideen.

“Yeah, I have managed to survive another day.” He chuckled lightly, stepping towards her with his eyes dropping briefly towards the fsh at her feet before lifting them again to look at her face. “The pups are doing fine by the way. I think they have been sleeping the last hour or so, after tiring themselves out by playing.” He explained to her. Chuckling again as he remembered how they played. “@Flair reminds me a lot of you, you know, when I first met you. Fiesty and full of energy.” It was said with genuine affection and Rayne smiled lightly as he spoke, reminiscing on their first meeting. It had been a long time since then and both had grown a lot, in different ways. Aideen had come so far since they’d meet, having stayed in Secret Woodlands and risen within the ranks until she was at the top. Rayne was very happy it had happened that way for his friend.

“I’m glad to see you’ve come so far since then.” The words fell from his mouth before he realised it but he meant every word of it regardless. Truly, he did. “I just wish I had been there to watch you and help you.”

She saw the small jolt of his rump and had to suppress a giggle, backing up a few steps as the russet male wiggled his way out of the den. She returned his smile, ignoring the touch of embarrassment on his face, and reached forwards to greet him with a light touch. It was so strange, having him around again, in some part she felt like he'd never left. His laughter was familiar and contagious, making her answer with a soft trill, eyes sparkling. She nodded appreciatively at his record of the day, glancing towards the den with a crooked smile; THAT'S impressive! He had to have done a lot more than just watch, if he'd managed to tire them all out.

The comment about her daughter brought Aideen's attention back to her friend, eyes widening though she continued to smile. The adventurous girl had always thought of herself as very different from her mother – Less toothy – yet there was no doubt in her mind who's genes were shining through in her feistiest daughter. Hearing it from Rayne though, she couldn't deny that there were similarities between all three of them, she couldn't completely run from her own legacy. A soft laugh fell from the queen's lips, a glisten of moisture in her eyes; "I suppose you're right… She's got quite the spunk. You should meet her grandmother!" There was a small catch in her voice, but she pushed through it. Her birth home was so far away – A lifetime! – she rarely longed for it anymore, but talking about her family did make her miss them.

Rayne's sudden comment, so close to her own thoughts, snapped the vixen woman back to reality, gaze once more focusing on her friend. Her expression grew soft, tail swaying slowly behind her as she looked at him with wide eyes, full of affection. The words send a shiver of mixed feelings through her, though the strongest one was happiness, joy that they had been reunited, and her words reflected so: "You're here now." She spoke softly, reaching towards the larger wolf to gently brush his shoulder. "And you did help me," She continued, pulling back just a little to look up at him, face close to his; "You've been my friend ever since I first came here." She wanted to say more, but all words escaped her and she looked away, eyes landing on the fish she had brought. With a light shake of her head, the petite lass backed a little, turning to the meal on the ground. "But enough of that!" She chirped, striking up a fresh smile as she reached for the fish; "Here, you must be starving." Grabbing up a fish of her own, she stepped away to allow Rayne the other, then settled down, lying with the juicy meat between outstretched front paws; "Now it's your turn to talk, tell me about everything you've been through!"
