The ebony wolf trudged through the brush with a quiet hum, her fluffy tail wagging as the medic in training went about her usually daily task of checking upon every plant that she could within the Notch’s territory. To some this daily ritual might seem odd or even bizarre, surely the plants couldn’t change in a day or so right? Wrong. Sylva knew how conniving those herbs could be sometimes and she needed to keep a constant presence in order to make sure nothing of ill intent was afoot. Though there were also other motives for these daily walks, it gave the girl time to think, recently White Fir Notch was doing phenomenal and nothing could bring that do- The girl’s thoughts were quickly interrupted by a strange scent.

The yearling was frozen mid step as her nose twitched, the scent carried on the breeze wasn’t natural or even remotely good. Quickly Sylva high tailed it, following the scent of...something as she skidded into a clearing and her yellow gaze flicked around, a sudden intake of breath at the scene before her. All around the clearing, various plants seemed in various stages of sickness. The usual lush green Skunkbush clumps were turning into a sickly shade of brown, the leaves curling in upon themselves as brown decay showed.

Slowly, Sylva glanced around as panic started to set in Oh no, oh no, oh no! What if this is just the beginning? WHat if everything’s going to wither and die? The pack won’t be able to survive any major illness or injury without our herb catches… her heart beating within her ears, Sylva raised her muzzle toward the sky and let out a terror filled how, the only clue to the situation was the simple and totally not ambiguous or possible to misunderstand message of ‘their sick’
