Hunting thread for @Cottongrass and @Rosalind

The agouti male moved through the tundra with a confidence sway in his gait. Lorcan had managed to gain not one but two hunting companions and now the chances of him returning to the pack with a sizable kill to his name seemed all the more promising. Trotting at a comfortable speed, the agouti male led Cottongrass and his acquaintance, Rosalind, in a south-eastern direction. He knew that the mule deer would not wish to hang around in the open lowlands for long; being prey species the wolf presumed them to feel more at ease amongst the thicker cover that the forest provided.

Black-tipped tail swayed eagerly behind him and his salmon pink tongue lolled through his mouth as he inhaled a deep breath of the crisp evening air. Lorcan could feel himself becoming more excited as the trio grew closer to the line of tall sequoia trees which rimmed along the edge of the vast tundra and quickly dimming sunlight only worked to heighten his predatory senses. Golden gaze focused ahead on the shaded treeline and his tongue licked hungrily at his lips as he finally lowered his nose to the ground, his dark nostrils flaring as he sampled the scents which littered the firm terrain.

A chuff erupted from his throat as he paused in his tracks, his tail lifting high above his back to signal to the pair of wolves accompanying him. Without saying a word, Lorcan glanced up and then gestured with his nose to the spot where he had caught scent of the mule deer in the grass. Shifting to the side, he allowed a moment for the other wolves to inspect the area before he began moving again, his nose weaving intermittently between the ground and the air as he continued to track the meandering trail left by the prey which led towards the forest.

Cottongrass
They hadn't been walking for long. Couldn't have been more than a few moments of comfortable silence while Lorcan lead the way of their motley group, weaving ever closer towards the treeline that apparently housed food. Behind him Cottongrass' tail started to wag, brushing at his heels with every step. And for once, he was quiet. More than content to watch as Lorcan walked ahead while sneaking occasional glances at @Rosalind from the corner of his eye. She seemed... Okay? He couldn't be too sure when he found it difficult to focus his mind when there was excitement humming in his veins. Because they were going hunting!

So with a goofy smile on his face he leaned over to give Rosalind a reassuring nudge, or at least tried to but he wasn't sure how successful it was. And he was about to say something cheesy or obnoxious. Just open up his big mouth and start rambling about everything and anything because who didn't like talking. But then he heard a soft chuff come from Lorcan and just like that his attention was stolen away while his gaze snapped forward. The wagging of his tail only intensified as he bounded away, only slowing down when he brushed by Lorcan towards the apparently interesting patch of grass.

It admittedly took a few seconds of staring before instinct kicked in and he stooped over. His nose twitched as he took to scenting the little patch and already he could catch the fading whiffs of something warm and musky. Deer, no doubt. He wasted no time in catching back up to Lorcan, the smell dedicated to memory as he took to weaving about. There was a lot to take but Cottongrass was pretty sure he could handle it. He just had to focus on one distinct odor and sort it from the rest.

And maybe he could do this. It was enough to have his tail lashing about in the air behind him while he alternated between scenting the air and the ground, obediently trailing after the other male.

Rosalind Andromeda-Tainn
Omg I'm so sorry! I didn't realize how much time had past! Dx

Quite honestly Rosalind felt ill. She felt as if she were going to vomit at any moment, literally, it was definitely building up. Cotton gave her a nudge, which in all honestly was probably meant to reassure her, but it really only made things worse. The fae attempted to smile back at her beloved new friend, but that was easier said than done. She was shaking, it was slight but definitely there. As the other one, Lorcan? Softly called to the pair, the Tainn couldn't help but gag a little bit. This was her God that she'd be hunting. A God that's perfume now heavily lingered in the air.

Spirituality aside, Rosalind hadn't even the slightest idea how to hunt. Sure, rabbits, mice, little things. Those were manageable. Deer though? Weren't those like.. I don't know, a lot bigger than her? She should of backed out while the opportunity was still there. God or not, her very presence was a definite disadvantage to the two who have probably hunted deer on numerous occasions. She was going to slow them down! Nevertheless, here she was, creeping ever so slowly behind the pair. Why?

'Forgive me' the fae mouthed as the scent grew heavier and heavier. 'Please forgive me..'
