Although his eyes had finally opened, releasing him from a world of darkness, everything was still blurred around the edges. Less defined and difficult to memorize. The white-barked trees that engulfed the vale all looked the same, causing the boy to hesitate when it came to venturing further into the woods. He worried he would get lost and mama wouldn’t be able to find him. The Leigh cringed at the thought, his nose wrinkling as he glanced around the maze of trees surrounding him. The sun had begun to drop low, the swirl of clouds overhead growing darker in colour. One of the first things he had learned about the bright world that his parents inhabited was that the fiery orb in the sky worked on a schedule. He liked when it sunk below the tries, for it did not hurt his eyes as much, and when it woke up in the morning, its gentle rays of light rousing the wolves from their slumber.
He also knew that mama was warm, just like her voice. Her fur reminded him of the sun, although the figure in the sky paled in comparison to Neha.
Father was dark, like the night, but not as cold for he possessed a warmth similar to mama’s.
He knew that his paws did not grasp the concept of walking just yet, for he tripped and stumbled more than he walked. But he did not mind. There would be plenty of time for exploring soon!! He just needed to get the hang of his chubby legs…
He also liked sleeping a lot but being awake was far more exciting. So, in order to balance the two, he napped frequently.
A yawn tugged at his tiny jaws but he dismissed it with a frantic shake of his body in a feeble attempt to release the heavy grip of sleep. He was not ready to succumb to his favourite activity just yet. He pulled himself from the ground and padded forward, his movements slow and precise as he stumbled through the trees. He would not stray too far, for he did not want to get lost. Sachiel just wanted to stay awake just a little bit longer.
