Risaela ???
@Lachesis - Ris is a sick puppy

It hadn't started out too bad. Her nose was wetter than usual, and her throat felt a little scratchy - like if she'd just talked a whole bunch after not talking for days. Which, of course, she didn't think too much on, because Ris tended to set most irritants to the side. Even as a tiny pup, physical pain hadn't affected her quite like it had her brother. She could ram her face into a tree and only have a couple moments of fighting back tears, but with Theo... you could nip his ear and he'd squall.

Well, he wasn't that bad. Perhaps she was just bitter that he hadn't come out with her earlier.

The miniscule symptoms had escalated throughout the day, and Risaela was getting tired much more quickly than she normally did. Going on ten weeks now, the girl had pretty darn good stamina from her solitary escapades and adventures, plus when she tagged along with Ayti or Inna. So being so tired when she'd only been out for a couple hours was very, very weird for her. It was only midday, and already her paws were beginning to drag on the forest floor.

She started to sniffle after that, and sneezed four times consecutively. Her brows knitted in confusion, because the sneezes had irritated her throat, and she gave a few tentative coughs that did little to stop the scratching and burning. It was weird, and she hated it. A soft, confused whine escaped the pup, her ears pressing down to her head as she sat down, miserably, on the damp forest floor.

It was just a summer cold, but she was becoming rapidly convinced that she was dying.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
healer dem 1/3

Lachesis had just returned from an early morning patrol when he had decided to check in on his co-lead’s children. Mathéo had been tucked away inside the den, enjoying the limited solitude he was given, but his sister was nowhere to be seen. Typical. Snorting in mild amusement Lachesis followed her scent along the forest floor, his brows narrowing in concern as he noticed a change in her scent. His suspicions were confirmed when he heard a series of sneezes in the distance. The cloud frowned. It appeared little Risaela had caught a summer cold.

His pace quickened as he approached the bundle of miserable, tawny fur. The healer offered a soft whine in greeting, his chartreuse gaze quickly sweeping over her to ensure it was just a cold plaguing her and not something worse. “Oh little Ris,” he cooed with a frown, his ears pressed to the back of his crown as he pressed his nose to her forehead, “are you not feeling well?” That much was obvious, but he wanted to hear it from her. He leaned back on his heels, his head falling to one side as he studied her. “Can you tell Uncle Lach what’s wrong? I promise I’ll make you feel better soon.” Lachesis was still a healer by trade regardless of his position as leader. He would do whatever he could to ensure Riseala had a speedy recovery.

Risaela ???
A few more miserable sniffles and halfhearted coughs escaped the pup before someone came to her rescue. Her ears flicked over to Lachesis and she sneezed again, not understanding why she felt so horrible. And although she was absolutely the toughest puppy in the whole of Hearthwood River, she really, really, really wanted coddled and doted on.

She was dying, after all.

The child closed her eyes when Lachesis touched her forehead with his nose, and she grunted in response to his first question - that one didn't need words. Which was great, because talking was hard on a good day, and she really didn't feel up to the challenge now. But then he leaned away from her, and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. He asked her another question, and this one did require words. Which, of course, frustrated the overtired girl.

But she loved her uncle, and maybe he could help if he knew what was wrong. She cleared her throat and spoke, her voice scratchy not only from disuse, but also from the soreness that was plaguing her. "H... u-ur-tzz," she stuttered and slurred at the same time, stretching her chin up to show him her throat. The pup swallowed, wincing when the scratchiness irritated up once again. She sneezed and sniffled dramatically afterward, sending the cloud a pair of unintentional, watery puppy-dog eyes.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark

The girl sneezed at his approach and his features fell, a frown cutting across his pale maw as he nudged Risaela once more. Lachesis just hoped that her little summertime cold had not spread to her brother or the other puppies. It appeared mild but it did not mean that it could worsen if not treated immediately. She struggled to speak, the single word strained as it tumbled off her tongue. As she craned her neck toward him another sneeze plagued her, causing the Stark to whimper in sympathy. “Your throat hurt, huh?” He responded softly before pressing a soft lick to her forehead, his tail hanging limp between his legs. It was an easy fix—as long it was just a cold and nothing worse.

“Can you follow me to my den or do you want me to carry you?” He asked as he stepped away from her, his nose bopping in the general direction of where his den was located. “Uncle Lach has something for you there that will make you feel better,” he explained with a soft wag of his tail, his chin angled to the side. Little Ris was getting too big to carry but Lachesis would not object if that was what she wanted. She was the sick one after all—she got whatever she wanted.

Once Riseala was treated Lachesis would be sure to drop some herbs off for both Mathéo and Oksana after giving some to his own children. Even if they weren’t sick Lachesis wanted to fight off the cold before it made its rounds.

Risaela ???
Part of her did not want to worry her uncle, and felt really really bad when he whimpered at her expense. The other part - the louder, more childish, needy part asked why shouldn't he be worried? She was worried! And Lach was older and wiser and maybe knew what was going on, so eventually that second part of her won over. He licked her forehead and she whined softly, pressing her head into the contact and catching herself when he moved away.

He asked if she could follow him to his den or if he needed to carry her, and the latter was tempting. But Ris hadn't really had to be carried since a lot of days ago, and she didn't want to break her streak. Besides, she was super duper tough and strong, so she decided that she could definitely walk on her own. She harrumphed lightly and got to her paws, stumbling a bit but ultimately was able to balance herself.

"I-" she broke off into a coughing fit, wincing at the dull burn in the back of her throat. The pup whined in frustration. "I-I-I-I wok," the child finished, nodding her head decisively and padding over to the white wolf, leaning on one of his legs for just a moment before pulling away and waiting for him to take the lead to his den. Because she was a little bit dizzy and couldn't see everything as well as she usually could, and it was probably for the best that she follow him for now.

feel free to pp them arriving at the infirmary!

While the cloud was worried he was also confident that the herbs he was about to give the tawny Baranski would chase away her sickness. It did not appear severe, even if little Risaela believed it was. He thought about keeping her with him for the night, in his infirmary, to make sure that the cold was mostly gone by the morning. XIX did not think Risaela would refuse an opportunity to have a sleepover with her uncle. He hoped, as he would prefer to keep her close, like he did with all his other patients.

I wok. The ghost gave a sharp nod as a soft smile tumbled onto his dark lips, his chartreuse gaze softening as he studied the ball of tawny fluff. She reminded him of Lilliana—stubborn and independent. “Okay.” He motioned for her to follow him with a soft flick of his nose. Lachesis maintained a slow pace, his paws dragging across the soft forest floor so that Risaela would not fall behind. Under any other circumstance the little Baranski would be racing him to his infirmary, her little paws scrambling across the dirt. Today they would have to take things slow—for now. Perhaps, in the morning if she was feeling better, they could race to Kisla’s den or the river’s edge.

Risaela ???
I shall pp

The tiny Tainn nodded her head decisively, glad that he'd agreed with her instead of forcing his will and making her let him carry her to the den. She decided to do her best on the whole walking thing, focusing hard on following the white wolf's pawsteps through the forest and toward his den. And for the most part, she was successful. The child only tripped a few times, and ran into the back of her uncle's legs twice. Then there was the one time that she stumbled into a tree. The fever she was running was only mild, but since she'd never had one before, she couldn't help but be a little overwhelmed by it.

Reaching the den took far longer than it usually would have. By tomorrow, with a little bit of help from the herbs, Ris would likely be fine and would probably even challenge her uncle to a race. But, for now, she was just a pup going through her first cold, and she did not deal with colds well. Clearly. Because as soon as the two of them reached the den, she lay down on her stomach with a dramatic flop and slid down the little incline into the den, intending on taking her medicine and going to sleep.

Naps were pretty great, after all.

She whined hoarsely, glancing up with round silver-blue eyes at her Uncle Cloud, then let out a monstrous sneeze that shook her little skull and brought tears to her eyes.

dis is what his den kinda looks like

Lachesis maintained a slow pace as he meandered through the trees, his pale maw flinging over his shoulder occasionally to ensure that Risaela was keeping up. The little bird was certainly determined as she trotted behind him, only bumping into him and tripping a few times. This was her first fever and it was understandable that she was a little dazed by it. Little Ris was learning first hand what being sick was like and Lachesis could only imagine it was not a pleasant feeling. He sympathized with her, for XIX was a bit of a grump when he was felled by a horrific man cold. And being as young as she was, it was important for him to get herbs into her as quickly as possible.

Once they reached his den the little bird flopped to the ground, succumbing to her sickness as she slunk into the den. Biting his lower lip to stifle a laugh Lachesis followed in behind her, his long legs folding against his stomach as he crawled through the entrance.

It had taken some time but XIX had managed to carve out a spacious area for both him and his patients. The nook he preferred to sleep in was tucked out of sight, for the cloud liked his privacy and wanted to provide those he was treating with some privacy as well. He had hollowed out an area for his herbs and organized them by both type and usage, which was located close to the entrance in case of emergencies. Tonight, however, he would not allow the girl to sleep alone. Once he had given her the medicine she needed he would tuck her into bed beside him. Lachesis was not much of a napper but for her he would try.

There was still some leftover honey that Lachesis had managed to preserve from when Aytigin had joined Heathwood that he rubbed both the sweet grass leaves on and the skunkbush bark. Not only would it help with the flavour but it would also make it easier for the girl to ingest, especially with her sore throat. He placed the plants down in front of the girl once he was done with them, his lips curling into a soft smile as he gave her an encouraging whine. “This will make you feel better, I promise.”

Risaela ???
I kind of had it in my head where, when Ris gets sick, it is the equivalent of a man flu.

Silvering eyes creaked back open when the cloud approached her to offer her some of the medicine he'd promised. She leaned forward to sniff at it, her head tilting to the side. She hadn't really eaten plants before - she'd tried once, with some grass, but she hadn't enjoyed the taste very much. The ingrained dislike of the vegetation caused her to hesitate, even if they didn't smell bad. And what was that gold stuff he put on it?

But she trusted her uncle, and if he'd offered the herbs to her, then surely they wouldn't harm her. Even if she didn't expect them to taste good. She started with the green stuff, because it smelled good, and her muzzle wrinkled up when she chewed it. Though the taste wasn't terrible, especially with whatever that syrupy stuff was on it, she still didn't like it. Still, she managed to get it down, and then turned highly distrustful eyes on the bark. Because the green stuff looked like she could eat it, but the bark? Not so much.

Taking it in her mouth, she began to chew on it, and immediately knew that it was not her favorite thing ever. But Ris didn't allow herself to be deterred, and whether she was only supposed to chew it or eat it, she did crunch it down enough to swallow. Something in the herbs - probably the sweet stuff - had already helped soothe her aching throat, and now she could focus on other things. Like the fact she was very, very sleepy.

Ris yawned and lay flat on her stomach, intending to fall asleep right on the floor. Of course, it wouldn't be the worst place she'd slept - as a pup prone to adventure, she still fell victim to bouts of daytime sleepiness and occasionally needed a nap. So Risaela had become quite good at just sleeping whenever and wherever she had to, and now was no different.
