He was pleased that this meeting had gone much better than their previous encounter. The last time he had spoken with the blue-eyed agouti was when she was delivering news of Mittani’s fate to the river wolves and things had been tense between the two packs. He hoped that sending his scouts out with Cheedo would help repair the frayed relationship between Hearthwood and Whitestone, for it was important to XIX to preserve his alliances with the northern packs.

Nodding once more to show his agreement the pale leader took a half-step backward, distancing himself from the Whitestone scout. “Me too,” he murmured in response, hoping he could send out a scout to meet with Cheedo soon, but he would have to discuss things with Kisla to make sure she was also on board with the idea.

“Of course,” he assured his companion, offering her a wide smile as he turned away from her, expanding the space between. “It was good seeing you, too, Cheedo. I hope to see you again soon.” With that he dipped his head toward the agouti and offered her a final smile before disappearing into the forest behind him. Fade.
