all welcome, but special mention to @Emrys @Jynx and @Ryker!

He smelled the crisp, clean scent of the Spring long before he saw its shimmering surface. Happily the beast breathed in deep, senses flooded by all that was familiar. There had been an underlying nervousness during his journey, one that had thrummed louder the closer he had drawn. He trusted the wolves he had left his first pack with, but he had long learned that life could not be meticulously planned and protected no matter the amount of caution and foresight used. Yet the markers not only remained, but assured him with their strength, belonging dominantly still to Jynx and Emerys. Ryker's scent was there as well, as well as the flowery whiff of new life. Their litter had made it safely into the world.

It was odd to stop at the edge of this territory, to not stroll right in with his head held high. He was coming as an outsider, and that struck a strange cord within him. Still, he wouldn't change the position he was in now. Everything had worked out for the better. The man who had fought so hard to always keep things the same had finally learned to fully embrace the fluidity of life.

His head tilted back, and his black lips parted to send up a song that beckoned anyone and everyone that might hear it. The strong notes flooded the air and soared through the forest, seeking specifically the ears of a select few; his successors and his progeny.

Emrys Myrddin

For once the pale leader was taking a little time to himself stretched out in the grass not father from where he'd laid his son to rest. It was a way he could spend time with the child he would never get to know. He usually tried to visit regularly and stayed as long as he could but time was not free for him. He wished he could spend more time as he feared that with his living children growing with each passing day his time would become shorter. The time he spent in the quiet little spot now he hoped would make up for the times he would not be able to visit later. He had promised Jynx he wouldn't forget their second born and he meant to keep that promise.

His eyes had only closed as the sound of a familiar and unexpected voice rang through the territory. Raising his head he listened to the song that filled the air around him in disbelief at first. Then realizing he had to know if it truly was his former leader or his mind playing tricks he rose to his feet. Taking off at top speed through the White Firs that made up their home, he was eager to see how the man was fairing in his new home and share how is old home was faring under its current leadership.

He skidded to a halt as he reached the border and spied the dark man through the trees. A smile crossed his inky maw as he stepped into view with head and tail held high. “It's good to see you again old friend, I hope all is well with you?” He greeted the man as he neared where Gent stood waiting for someone to arrive.

Gent Lieris
It was no surprise that Emrys was the first to heed his call. Gent spied that thick, white coat of his flashing through the verdant growth of the forrest and was forced to bridle his own excitement, muscles tightening with the desire to bolt forward. When Emrys' paws finally landed him in front of the Corrie king, his self control thinned completely and the blue-black behemoth wriggled forward, knocking muzzles affectionately with his friend just after the words had spilled from the leader's mouth.

"Better than," he answered amiably, long tail whipping through the air behind him.

"I'm so sorry that I couldn't make it back sooner. I never intended to stay, especially with Jynx so close to her time, but the Corrie ended up with two expectant mothers and both were in perilous health. They wouldn't have made it if I hadn't stayed."

As regrettable as it was, he knew that Jynx and Emerys both had the hearts to understand.

"How are they?" he then asked pointedly, eyes sparkling with interest. It was clear he was asking after the lead pair's brood.

Permission granted for minor power play of @Elyan and  @Arwyn

Having risen just before sunrise, the Notch queen had gotten an early start to her day. Being as efficient as she was, she had wrapped up her daily routine within a reasonable time, leaving the afternoon free to herself. Knowing that her pack mates were well off, the hard working mother could afford to spend some time with her growing children. Both of them were getting more and more explorative, yet she was reluctant to let them out of her sights for long. The incident involving the cougar venturing near the den had left her nerves raw. To say that she was still a little on edge, would be an understatement. Their home seemed to have a way of drawing challenges...tests...to the wolves that dwelled amongst the fir trees. As a first time mother, Jynx now always had one ear opened, slept less soundly at night, now that there were children to protect.

Sprawled out in the grass beneath the welcoming shade of an old tree, she was in the midst of a play session with Elyan and Arwyn. They were getting bigger, their play a little rougher. All to be expected from growing pups. But she still displayed a seemingly infinite amount of tolerance, save for only when they bit down on an ear a little too hard or disobeyed her fair, but firm rules. They had yet to get into any mischief that she was aware of, but her son and daughter were rapidly approaching that testing phase of puphood. Plopped on one side with one set of small paws around her neck, jaws parted in a soft bite, the howl that rang from the borders took her by surprise. The voice was unmistakable, and her eyes filled with instant recognition. Despite her excitement, she was careful in rolling to her feet with the children so close by. They would be able to see by the happy flicking of her tail and the pitch in her voice, that this was a celebrated occasion.

Gent was back to check in, just like he had said he would. But it was with this realization and a pang in her heart, that she knew, it could very well be for the last time. Bending down to place a motherly kiss to the crowns of her children, she addressed them. "Listen you two. We have a very special guest today. He's waiting at our borders..." The borders were off limits for the pups...they knew that. "Normally I wouldn't let you so close to the edge of our home, but today I want you to come with me." Her bright eyes flicked from one face to another, a glint of seriousness in their depths. "But stay close and in my sight, okay?" Satisfied that they would behave as she requested, Jynx turned and set off to the border, with pups in tow.

She moved with a bounce in her step, heart hammering and tail held high. As she drew closer, she could indeed smell the familiar scent of Gent, her friend in the air. But it was different. He smelt of other wolves, of a foreign land. This would change nothing towards how she felt for him, for he would always be held in her good books, no matter the distance or wolves he kept company with. The flash of pure white fur through the trees confirmed that Emrys had already arrived before she did. Casting an observant glance over her shoulder at Elyan and Arwyn, she allowed their father a few more minutes alone with the former Notch king. As Gent's eager, intent question was vocalized, Jynx emerged into view, closing the space between them by only a few feet. A warm smile on her lips, eyes welcoming, she touched her nose to his muzzle in greeting before stepping back. "Why don't you see for yourself?" She said in good humor. But truly, she was elated. She was so thankful for this moment; that one of her dearest friends would get to at last, meet the children that she and Emrys had sired. Speaking of whom... So as not to worry their father, she stepped over to his side and nudged his ear reassuringly, conveying a silent message, hoping he didn't mind their pups presence here today.

Elyan Myrddin

The gray boy liked it better when their mother and father would play with he and Arwyn, it was these family play times that were the most fun for him. He hoped they would get able to spend the whole afternoon playing even though his little sides were heaving with the exertion he'd been expelling. Pouncing on his sister once he then ran to his mother and wrapped his paws around her neck and tried to nip at her ear. He couldn't quite catch it in his mouth but he was stopped as a sound was heard through the trees. It was like the time that he had heard his dad and there was that big thing that was like a wolf but not. Elyan wondered what fun thing this sound might he calling them too. He was eager to find out and hoped his mother wouldn't make then stay behind.

She had her rules and Elyan knew that he wasn't allowed to go near the border which of course made it all the more appealing. His mother talked about a guest and that they could go with he to the border but they had to stay in her sight… and Elyan just wanted to get in with it to meet this very special guest they had.

Finally she got done talking and led them through their home to what he had to guess was the border. He could see his father through the tree and another back wolf. Elyan had been buzzing with excitement since they had started their walk. He wanted to run to his dad but he remembered what his mother had said and wouldn't disobey her at least not right in front of her.

So he remained by his mother's side until she finally stepped out. She went to the black man. And spoke to him, Elyan felt like all eyes were on he and his sister. The gray boy wanted to hide behind his sister but he wanted to be brave too

Gent Lieris
Before Emrys could answer him, Jynx appeared from the forest, her gold eyes shining with a smile. Gent's tail set to beating the air again with his mirth, glad to see that she was looking so healthy as well. And, of course...

His pale eyes lit up as they took in the two pups toddling after her. A boy and a girl, both impeccably plump and beautiful in that magical way that only new life could accomplish. Gent could see the timidness in the boy as he nonetheless stood his ground, and knew then and there that the child would grow to very much resemble his father in personality. A perfect balance, emboldened by the blood of his mother.

"Excellent job you two," he commended with pride to the parents. Then, the previous king stepped forward, lowering his monstrous skull to speak to the duo at their height.

"Hey there. My name is Gent. Me and your parents go quite a ways back. What's your names?"

Emrys Myrddin

It was quite the surprise to find Gent at their borders but it pleased the pale leader to see his friend and former alpha especially in such good spirits. He was eager for Gent to see Jynx and the children but greetings needed to be made. With tail wagging rapidly behind him he accepted the bump of his muzzle and returned one of his own. “I'm glad all is well. Raela and the children are doing better I take it. You will tell them we miss them too?” He didn't know the notch queen like he did Gent but she had always been kind.

<b “You must not apologise I understand that you must be where you are needed when someone is in trouble.” </b>He said when Gent explained why he couldn't make it back before the birth of Elyan and Arwyn. “I am sure Jynx will understand as well. I hope the mothers gave birth to healthy pups and are doing better.”

“They are…,” Emrys started to say but stopped when the sound of someone approaching reached his ears. It wasn't just one someone but Jynx and the children, his mate greeting their guest before speaking the words that were on his tongue. His head turned briefly to Jynx after her nudge to offer her a smile and a nod.

A moment of sadness did fill the pale leader when he thought about his lost son not being their to meet Gent. A look was given to his mate. “Thank you! We are quite proud of them,” he stated as he watched the dark man bend down to the pups level to speak to them.

Elyan Myrddin

The small gray boy trailed after his mother as she led he and his sister through the territory so that they could meet the special guest. Elyan was a little unsure but also excited about the whole thing and who the special guest could be. He assumed since his mother seemed very eager for him and Arwyn to meet them he hadn't before.

It would be his first time going to the border, he of course wanted to see what that was all about. He soon found out their guest was a large black wolf and the border was nothing like he imagined. His father was already there talking to the man and his mother seemed very happy to see their guest. The gray pup pressed his side against his sister's when his mother stepped away from them.

The the visitor came down so he and Arwyn could get a better look at him. As he spoke about knowing his parents Elyan looked between Emrys and Jynx. Turning his mismatched gaze back to the man Gent he reached out with his nose to investigate him.

Arwyn Myrddin

When her mother said they were going to the border to meet a special guest Arwyn was interested in the guest but she'd already been to the border and past it. Of course her mother didn't know that so she tried to mimic her brothers excitement. She even ran ahead a little as Jynx led them through the forest to the border.

At the border she saw her father with another man and knew that his had to be their special guest. She wasn't sure she saw what was so special about the stranger. Her mother stepped away from her and Elyan and greeted the man in a friendly way. Meanwhile she felt her brothers side against hers and she turned to nudge his cheek.

The next thing she knew was the man was looking right around her and Elyan and being the bold pup she thought was she stepped right up to him. “I'm Arwyn, my brother Elyan,” she stated bravely to the man before looking back at her brother who was merely sticking his nose out to sniff the man.
