For @Lavender. I wasn't sure where she'd be so I kept it very vague <3
Dark lashes fluttered open, causing the bleary-eyed healer to stare with narrowed eyes into the surrounding gloom of the communal den. After taking a few moments to properly awaken, the agouti male quietly shuffled his way out towards the sunlit opening of the den, a jaw splitting yawn erupting past his charcoal lips as he slumped down exhaustedly at the hollowed entrance.

It was the morning after he and Inna had received their punishments and Lorcan was determined to do a job at pup-sitting. Instead of carrying out his usual routine of visiting Inna and Oksana first thing in the morning, the father decided that he would get straight down to his new role. He knew his own daughter often woke around mid-morning, but having not spent as much time with the other pups compared to her, he was unsure if it was true for the others as well.

Not wanting to start the day on a bad note by being late, Lorcan finally forced himself up and out of the den and slid down into a satisfying stretch. Giving a thorough shake of his pelt to rid himself of any debris which may have become caught in his fur during the night, he made sure to make himself presentable before he began loping his way in the direction of the leader’s den, curious to see if the troublesome twins were in need of supervision.

Lavender Stark

The little Stark liked rules almost as much as she liked following them. She did not understand why her sister and Risaela were so determined to defy their parents; constantly pushing their limits and getting into all sorts of trouble. That did not interest the girl. She was reckless, yes, but in a more lawful way. Sneaking past the pack borders was never high on her to-do list. But she did enjoy exploring the never-ending forest that surrounded the river, keeping to herself and hiding from her twin’s persistent (and dreadful) poems. Rapping was what Lil called it. Loud, confusing yelling was what Lavender called it. She did not understand why her sister couldn’t be more normal—like her. She was as normal as can be. Sort of.

The anxious feeling that tumbled inside her belly daily would say otherwise.

Risaela was still missing and the pale Stark worried about her age-mate. Father had told her about auntie Kisla’s passing and while Lavender did not really understand, she knew that her aunt was no longer with them and it was very bad. It made her parents’ faces droop, their lips curling into tight frowns. Lilliana was already gone from the den, presumably looking for the little Tainn or wreaking havoc elsewhere, which meant Cloud Jr. was getting some well deserved alone time.

Or not.

The sound of approaching paws lulled Lavender forward and she shuffled out of the den, her emerald pools landing on the large, tawny shape of the pack’s healer. She offered him a small smile as she flopped onto her stomach, embracing the warmth of the summer sun.

Lorcan sniffed the air hesitantly as she approached the leaders shared den, anxious about the possibility of bumping into Lachesis so soon after the reprimanding he received from the alabaster male the previous night. Stepping over quietly, russet ears pressed back against his head and black-tipped tail curling under submissively between his legs, the newly titled pup-sitter sniffed nervously around the gloomy entrance to the den for any clues as to who was present within it.

Movement coming from within the den caused the male to freeze and a few moments later Lorcan found himself staring down at a small creamy pup, who very much resembled her father, with a pair of bright emerald eyes. The healer smiled back a little awkwardly as the pup promptly flopped down in front of him to bask beneath the warm sunlight which cascaded down between the trees.

“Hello…” He began enthusiastically before suddenly falling silent again. Which pup was this again? The healer felt guilty for not spending more time with either of the twins before then. It would have saved him the embarrassment he was now forced to face as he awkwardly fumbled for words. “I’m Lorcan, what’s your name?” He asked with a smile, hoping that she wouldn’t notice his hesitation.

His gaze then drifted to the gloomy entrance of the den behind her. “Is your sister around?” It didn’t appear like it, but the healer thought it was best to ask just in case she happened to be tucked up at the back of the chamber asleep.

Lavender Stark

The older male did not leave and her frown returned, deep and dark across her pale maw. She was getting used to being alone, as both of his parents were very important and her sister was always off on one of her silly adventures. Company had not been on the agenda for today. Hello… the older wolf greeted slowly, almost unsure of how to approach the girl. She blinked, her emerald gaze fixated on the yellow-eyed wolf. Locán. Her nose twitched. The name sounded familiar. She had heard it fall from both parents’ tongues but she had never put a face to the name—until now. “Lavender,” she responded quickly, her head tipping to the side as she grew increasingly more uncomfortable. “Mom ’n da’ talk about you sometimes,” she added a little cheekily before regaining her composure, her expression growing stern once more.

Of course he was asking about her sister. Because everyone positively adored Lilliana and her stupid poems, but nobody ever paid attention to little Lavender. She was dull and boring and safe. It took everything in her to stop herself from rolling her eyes. “Nah,” she answered quickly, dismissing the question with a soft roll of her shoulders. “Dono where ’n don’ care,” she added for good measure, giving a sharp nod to accompany her words. Maybe he would leave her alone to go look for the self-proclaimed rapping superstar.
