What had begun as a simple errand in an effort to take some weight off the shoulders of Emrys, had turned into something much more. Jynx found herself further south than she had anticipated. She had only intended to be away for a maximum of twenty four hours, after making sure someone had an eye on the children, and informing her mate of her brief absence. It would feel good, she knew, to get out and stretch her legs away from the Notch. She had been fretting too much as of late. With being a mother and overseeing a dwindling pack at the same time, was a perfect recipe for stress. She had needed this breather, which was thus far, doing her good. The recent arrival of two new wolves, Blackmoore and Sharan, was a definite boost. But, experience had taught her to be skeptical, to be less trusting than before. She would see if these two proved her wrong, or if history repeated itself. With her spirits somewhat heightened, she knew she may soon be ready to take her place back at Emrys' side.
She felt badly for him. For placing the burden of leadership solely on his shoulders. He had just as much to contend with as she, if not more. The least she could do was help him out in any way she could, even if it meant a trip in search of much needed herbs. Autumn would be over soon, and the medical den would need to be well stocked for the winter, in case of an emergency. Jynx was making use of the little time they had left, in an effort to find and gather what plants were still viable, yet to fall victim to the frost and plummeting temperatures. It was late, well into the darkest hours of the night, when the tranquil rush of water reached her ears long before she saw the falls. It was this sound that reminded her that she hadn't meant to come this far south. She must've breezed through the miles of forest behind her faster than she thought, finding slim pickings further north. Much to her dismay, as she pressed on, the leaves and foliage around her were covered in an icy layer of frost, suspended in time. Although the sight was beautiful, as the frozen plants glimmered like diamonds, she would have no use for them here. What did capture her attention after a few more paces, was the falls which fed into the pool below. Slowly, she came to a stop, as if captured in the same icy grip as the foliage itself. Yellow eyes slowly filled with recognition. It had been so long...possibly even years, since she had visited this very spot. The same spot in which her life at Relic Lore had begun. She tipped her head down slightly, shutting her eyes gently and recalled the past...of who she had been then, and who she was now. Oh, a trip down memory lane was not the sort of venture she had expected today.
