For @Sachiel and maybe @Askan if the kids bite off more than they can chew || RE: Mountain goats are beginning to descend from Mount Dire.

It was around noon when the girl found herself on the part of the falls that butted against the Mountain. She had no interest in climbing the snowy rocks. Not today at least. But there was a funky scent that was drifting into her nose on the wind. Hawthorne kept pushing onward in hopes that the wind would favor her.

Once the trees thinned some the girl spotted a cream form in the distance. She watched it for a few moments, her tail swaying behind with an unspoken excitement. What was that strange creature? What were the weird things protruding and spiraling out of its head? Without much of a thought, she let out a serious of woofs in an attempt to gain the creature's attention.

Like usual, the boy didn’t have much planned for the day. He had sauntered off in the early hours of the morning, avoiding the prying eyes of his new packmates and Pumpkin Eyes in a feeble attempt at being useful. He began by looking for something to hunt, as his own stomach was rumbling. The agouti boy was not about to be a freeloader—his father had taught him better than that. While he knew some herbs Sachiel did not know enough to be a competent healer… plus, he was far too young to even consider pursuing such a title.

A series of borks attracted his attention, alerting the rabbit he was stalking that there were other wolves near by. Dang it! He frowned, his mismatched eyes scanning the forest, brows narrowed darkly.

Without hesitation he followed the borks, his paws thudding across the pine-coloured forest floor. A familiar scent brought a smile to his dark lips, tugging the upward. Sachiel was still annoyed that her ruckus had caused the rabbit to hop off, but he was curious as to what she was barking at. Nearly barreling into the girl he gave her a soft bump to the shoulder, his mismatched eyes focused on the cream figure in the distance. He frowned. You made me lose a rabbit, y’dingus.

lemme know if u want anything changed x:

She bumped back into his shoulders with a wide grin. "This is way bigger than some dumb rabbit, doofus." Hawthorne snorted at the weak insult. She was only teasing anyway. He had called her dingus after all.

"Look at that thing on the rocks up there." Hawthorne pushed her nose under his chin to make him have to focus on the cream creature on the rocks. "Ya see those weird things comin' out of its head?" She asked, trying to spot the creature from underneath Plant Boy's head. The darn thing was taking its time coming down from the mountain. Obviously, it was close enough to spot but - for the moment - it wasn't close enough for her to chase after.

The girl rushed out from underneath him and moved towards the strange creature, releasing more barks. She would get its attention even if that meant dragging it back to the Shallows. Which wasn't a terrible idea...

His eyes rolled at her comment, a frown tugging at his lips as she pushed his nose up with her own, directing her gaze to horned creature. Huh. It certainly was a lot bigger than some silly ol’ rabbit. It moved at a leisurely pace, sauntering down the edge of the mountain without a care in the world. He exhaled sharply out of his nose, his curiosity clawing hungrily at his insides. … weird things comin’ out of its head … Plant Boy squinted, his brows falling into a tight line. Those weird things looked pretty dangerous… or maybe he was just being a wimp. His chin fell abruptly as the girl rushed out from under him, not giving him a chance to answer. The boy couldn’t help but roll his eyes once more—something he did a lot when he was with Pumpkin Eyes—before padding after her. If this thing starts chasing you don’ expect me to help you, he taunted her between her barks, a lopsided smirk pulling at the corners of his mouth. Y’think I could jump on its back? He asked as he sidled up beside her, his shoulder knocking against hers once more. Shooting her a mischievous look the boy dashed forward, his plume wagging excitedly behind him. Maybe they could chase it back to the Shallows… it looked edible, even with the weird branches coming out of its head…

She leaned into his side for a moment, seizing her barking. "Oh yeah? Let that thing get me and Askan really might skin ya alive." It went without saying that Hawthorne thought she was one of the dark Selwyn's favorites. Whether that was true or not...well, she hadn't exactly figured out yet.

Before she could answer his question, Plant Boy was off to the races. "Hey!" Hawthorne barked out before chasing after her tawny friend. "Ya better not! You'll go right down the rest of the slope with it!" She laughed as she tried to keep up with him. Plant Boy was the slightest bit faster than her. Hawthorne was a little chunky, taking after her unknown father, but she wasn't some hulking beast.

It seemed the creature finally paid some attention to them. The young Edge wolf's eyes squinted as it seemed to pick up its pace. No way was she letting this creature get away.

The agouti boy would never let anything happen to Pumpkin Eyes, and not just because he worried that Askan would skin his pelt clean off him. The pair had developed an unlikely friendship and, somehow, they managed to spend most of their time together. When they weren’t off patrolling on their own.

But Sachiel didn’t mind. She wasn’t completely awful company.

You have such little faith me! He tossed over his shoulder as he continued sprinting toward the horned creature, his paws scrambling over the rocky terrain of the mountain slope. The boy wasn’t stupid enough to jump on the creature’s back—he didn’t even think he was tall enough to do so!—but that didn’t mean he couldn’t harass his friend. Maybe she was just jealous she hadn’t thought of it first. C’mon! He urged, his tail swaying behind him as he struggled to pick up speed. He wasn’t used to this type of landscape. Wanna chase it back to the shallows? It would be quite the task, but Sachiel was mostly confident that they could do. Askan and Reyes might not be too happy to have a big white horned beast knocking on their doorstep. Or, maybe they would. It would be a preeeetty big feast after all…

Nah! She barked back towards her companion. Got no faith in the weird creature! It was rare for her to doubt Plant Boy's abilities for he was usually the one with his head on straight. It was the strange creature with the horns that made her wonder if jumping it was a good idea. Chasing? Sure. But what if it turned out to have more than horns in store?

The thought made her fur dance but she focused on her partner. Duh! There would be more willing bodies to work with when they got the creature back to the shallows. Askan and Reyes would be there and surely one of them would know what this was and what to do. If not them there would always be Remington to call upon. Hawthorne hadn't interacted with the girl much but she remembered Askan telling her to report anything strange to Remington if the Edge Lords weren't around.

So maybe jumping on the weird, horned creature’s back wasn’t one of his finer ideas, but it did not deter him from wanting to try. He continued to push forward, his lanky legs working desperately to maneuver his gangly body over the mountain side. Just… a little… closer… But as he closed the distance between himself and the pale creature Sachiel got a better look at the sharp horns protruding from its head… Ok, jumping on its back was definitely a bad idea. Scratch that one off the list. His pace slowed, and while he did not remove his gaze from the walking meal, his ears flicked backward to catch his companion’s quick response.

Duh!

Perfect.

With a plan in motion the boy picked up speed once more, going higher to cut off the creature’s escape route. It wasn’t going to get away that easily—not with Pumpkin Eyes and Plant Boy hot on its tail. Once he ended up behind the creature (at a safe distance, of course) Sachiel let out his best bork in an attempt to redirect it south, toward his greyscale companion. Watch out! He called out as continued running down the mountain side, keeping to mountain side so their meal couldn’t run away. Due to his big paws and awkward body he slipped a few times, but managed to catch himself before taking a tumble down the mountain. The goat continued its stampede toward Pumpkin Eyes, bleeping as it scrambled over the rocks. The boy did not feel bad—the Edgy wolves needed to eat too. And this was gonna be one heck of a meal!

Okay so trying to focus on Plant Boy and a horned creature at once wasn't the easiest thing she had done.

Her orange gaze shifted from time to time to make sure he was safe on his climbing while she stayed south of the two of them, helping to usher it closer to home. The creature was speedy as it ran along making awful sounds. She'd lose her footing once and a while but did her best to stay on all fours.

How are we gonna get it through the woods? She hollered. It was a bit clearer out here but towards the Edge borders the forest was a bit more dense. Hawthorne was no mind reader but she didn't think that Askan and Reyes would be terribly happy if this thing came crashing through the forest. Perhaps they could manage to wound it some before they got that far but those horns still seemed like a big neon sign telling them to stay away.
