Will take place in Driftwood surge. If you would like something changed let me know. ^^
@Lachesis

She had gotten up early to find something for her and her shadow to eat but she had also went out to think. The snowbird had been thinking a lot about how her shadow had gotten hurt. What if there came a time when he was hurt bad enough that a simple cleaning of the wound wouldn't suffice? What then? She was no healer and didn't even know that much. The only thing she knew was to keep it clean and make sure that the wounded was well-taken care. Besides that, she didn't know anything.

Isaura slowly made her way through the cedars that had taken root her thoughts filled with uncertainty. She knew she couldn't fight and help Ru out when it came down to it the best she could do was take care of him after the fact. How long would that be able to last though? How long before he got seriously hurt defending her?

The snowbird didn't want to think about it but it was an ever-looming thought since their run-in with the pack wolves. The only reasonable solution that she could find was that she would need to learn some healing and she would have to be extra careful when doing so. She didn't want another bad situation and she also wanted to make sure that her shadow didn't get hurt again. That meant that he was going to have to stay in the dark about it all and that caused her discomfort. She knew that he would want to be along if he knew and she didn't want him hurt again.

Torn she turned her attention back to her surroundings and found herself staring at a river that flowed swiftly but calmed as it turned amongst that rocks and downed trees. The snowbird blinked in surprise at the rough beauty of it. This area was full of these hidden spots, wasn't it?

Unable to resist the urge she went down to the water and stepping into the shockingly cold water she dipped her head and lapped at its surface. Getting a drink that would help keep her sated for a long while.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark

He had returned to the rushing water once more, for the spot had not left his thoughts since his previous visit. The pale king also wanted to ensure that the territory remained unclaimed, for he did not want to shoo away any loners or travelling groups from the mountainous forest if the move went as planned. The river wolves had enough brawn on their side to do so, if necessary, but he didn’t want it to come to that. Not if he could prevent it from happening.

As soon as he entered the familiar woods a weight fell from his shoulders, his tail wagging freely behind him as he sauntered through the towering cedars. He couldn’t wait to bring his wife here, for a simple description did not do the place justice. As he trotted through the evergreens a comfort consumed him and he was embraced by the feeling of home. He couldn’t help but wonder if Maksim had felt the same way when he had arrived in Hearthwood… or Cut Rock. Since arriving in the north Lachesis had always imagined living out the rest of his days among the towering giants, alongside the fallen king and his mate. The forest had become a safe haven, for a short while. After the death of his friend things had begun to change, but they had still felt stable. It wasn’t until the death of his mate, the river queen, that Hearthwood had truly begun to change…

An unfamiliar scent pulled him away from his thoughts, causing the fur on the back of his neck to rise as his tail curled high above his back. But these were not his woods—not yet. He couldn’t claim ownership… but he could steer them in a different direction. Away from the surging river.

He padded down to the river’s edge, his chartreuse gaze fixated on the pale stranger. His neck craned to the side as he tried to get a better look—to see if he recognized her. But the face, along with the scent, was unfamiliar. He frowned and woofed a soft greeting, his shoulders sagging to show that he was of no threat to her.

OOC: So sorry for the wait on this.. ^^;

A woof broke the silence and Isaura's head snapped up as she whirled in surprise to face the wolf. For an instant, all she saw was the pale fur and her heart rate spiked as she started to back away further into the water without realizing it. Had her brother found her? Was he here to finish what he had started? But as she stared with wide eyes she saw that this stranger had paler fur than even Aeolus and that his eyes were closer to a yellow than her brothers blue-green. Her mind clicked. It wasn't Aeolus. Freezing she attempted to force her heart rate down with deep breathes. There was no doubt in her mind that the stranger had seen her panic.

When she felt calm enough she padded out of the water her gaze dropping below the strangers. She waited silently wondering if he was going to tell her this area was taken. There weren't any scents here but that apparently meant little to the packs in this area. From where she was she couldn't tell if he was a loner or not but his presence and the fact that Ru wasn't around reminded her of what she had wanted to do.

Nervously she licked her lips before speaking she called to him. Would you be able to tell me where the nearest pack is? She didn't let her gaze touch his but she watched his posture to try and get a read on the ghostly male. The snowbird wasn't sure what kind of wolf she was dealing with but the simple question wasn't too much to ask. Right? And it would also tell her if Ru and she needed to be extra careful or not.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark

His toes curled into the soft ground as he watched the pale female with cautious eyes, the corners of his mouth pinched tight. Even though he had not yet claimed the surge as his own Lachesis felt protective of the land, and he did not like that a loner was present. Not unless they intended on sticking around and joining Hearthwood once they moved. It did not matter—even if she intended on staying close to the mountain river the pack could easily chase her off if need be. But it still made him uncomfortable.

The Stark remained quiet as she stepped away from the glacier-fed water, his peridots observing her from a distance. He didn’t mean to be creepy, or protective, but he didn’t really know what else to do. His shoulders sagged in relief as she spoke first, his pale sonars cupped forward as he listened to her question. A faint smile stumbled onto his maw before he answered, his tail swaying slowly behind him: There’s one a little north of here. Mine, actually. Hearthwood River. But we’re thinking of moving here… so best you keep moving… The words didn’t come. Instead they echoed haphazardly around the inside of his skull for the Arctic was incapable of being cruel. My name’s Lachesis, he introduced, his tone still soft; friendly. And you are…? Perhaps it was a home the girl was looking for. Or maybe she just needed directions. Either way, Lachesis could help her.

If she had realized that this land was on the verge of being claimed she wouldn't have lingered. No matter what the snowbird didn't want to get into another incident with a pack, but she didn't know, and so she had stayed. Once it was marked as taken she would leave but for now, she would try and enjoy the scenery even if she was now sharing it with a wolf that had almost given her a heart-attack. He hadn't responded to her panic either just letting her get her bearings and calm down. For that she was grateful.

He seemed relieved when she asked about the nearest pack and she wondered about it but didn't ask further. The ghostly male began to smile while his tail waved behind him. Whoever he was he seemed to be pleasant she realized as he began to speak, his relaxed manner putting her at ease. His answer gave her more information than what she had originally hoped for even going so far as to tell her that he lead this Hearthwood pack. So not only was she speaking with another pack wolf but another leader as well. At the moment he seemed much nicer than the leader to the south and she couldn't help the small smile that crossed her face. He also introduced himself as @Lachesis before questioning who she was.

My name is Isaura and it's a pleasure to meet you Lachesis. She responded back letting her head dip down further in respect. Umm. Would you happen to have a healer that would be able to teach me a bit? She asked hopefully. He was the leader so he would know what wolves had which skills in his pack and if he didn't then maybe he would know someone outside his land who did. But had her request been too bold? Her ears slipped back at the thought but the words had already been spoken and she couldn't exactly take them back to rephrase them.

Lachesis "XIX" Stark
sorry for the short/late post <3 @Isaura

Isaura. He nodded, committing the name to memory. She was far too young, and small, to be of any harm to Lachesis but the scent of another clinging to her pelt made him worry. Whoever it was, they did not seem to be around, which put him at ease—but not completely. Lachesis was no fool. He did not let his guard down around strangers. There’s another one, he added, his voice level as he spoke, west of mine. Nestled beside the mountain. White Fir Notch. While he wanted to draw loners to his own pack he also did not want to withhold information from her. It was possible that she wouldn’t be suited to his pack. Their conversation had just started after all, and he barely knew anything about her (aside from her name and that she was not travelling alone).

His chin tipped to the side as a question rolled off her tongue, taking the leader by surprise. She was looking for a healer? Wasn’t she in luck. Not only did he know about the nearest packs but his pack was home to two healers. Clearly Isaura had run into the right wolf. He nodded slowly, a smile still pressed to his dark lips. I do, actually. Two healers. Myself and one of my subordinates. But there was a third healer Lachesis was familiar with: The leader of the Notch is also a healer and a good friend of mine. He paused once more, allowing the pale girl to digest his words before allowing more words to plummet off the tip of his cherry tongue. What are you interested in learning?

OOC: Sorry for the wait on this.

He was kind enough to let her know that there was another pack as well that was close to the mountains. White Fir Notch. She committed the name to memory. They didn't have any intentions of going near the mountains so she didn't think that they would come across them but it was good to know about at least.

At her question, he nodded as a smile slipped onto his face. That was a good sign, right? Her tail wagged hopefully behind her. He would be able to help her then right? His words made her realize that not only was she lucky she was extremely lucky today. Since not only was he a healer himself he also had another wolf in his pack that could heal and there was a wolf in the Notch that could heal as well. Lachesis paused then before asking the question that she had given a lot of thought to so she was able to respond rather quickly.

Anything that could help with bleeding, infections, and pain. Her words came fast and then it was her turn to pause. My companion has a tendency to get hurt while helping me. She said at a normal pace and she gave the explanation because it was quite obvious that she wasn't hurt and if he hadn't smelled her shadow on her already he would soon enough.

He nodded softly at the pale stranger’s request, the corners of his mouth tightening in thought as he searched through the encyclopedia of herbs inside his mind. Those were easy symptoms to treat—as long as they weren’t frequent. But, by the sounds of it, her companion was prone to injury. You should tell him to be more careful, he hummed in amusement, his tone soft and dismissive as he spoke. She appeared timid; submissive. Much like Lachesis had been when he’d first arrived in Relic Lore. Fortunately he had had Anastasia to help him navigate through the foreign territory. Perhaps his reckless companion was her version of Anastasia.

Arnica, he started before motioning toward the mountain behind them, it can be found along the foothills of this mountain. It won’t start blooming until may, but it will help with bruises, sprains and cuts. It's a bright yellow flower with soft, hairy leaves. You’ll know it when you see it. It was a good plant to have—just in case. The prairie crocus can be found in the tundra north of here—it’ll start blooming next month. It’s a small purple flower. The leaves can be used as a poultice to treat joint pains, or crushed to draw out infection from wounds. He motioned to the north as he spoke, his gaze hardening as he added on a warning: But it shouldn’t be eaten.

He studied the trees around him before speaking once more, his chartreuse gaze studying her pale frame. He hoped she was retaining all of the information he was bombarding her with. He’d have more time to educate her if she was a member of his pack, but as a loner he could only provide her with a crash course. Hopefully that would be enough. White fir bark is good for cuts and sores. That can be ingested.
