Kajika Tallis
@Tulip

Leaving his and Birtie's shared space Kajika placed a lick to the cream woman’s crown as always before starting his day. His usual routine and then he was off, he had a mission that day and nothing was going to keep him from it. His mind was only on the yearling Tulip, he felt he'd been neglecting her while keeping order in the cove and spending time with Birtie. He was going to spend some time with the girl and do something he rather enjoyed. He was going to teach her about ice fishing, he should have done it sooner than this but he'd unfortunately been a little preoccupied.

He went to the communal den first in hopes of finding her there. He'd noticed that Moonshadow had been giving her a little more freedom in the past weeks so he didn't know if she had headed out already. When he reached the mouth of the den he sat back on his haunches before calling into it. “Tulip, are you in there?”

Tulip DayHeart
Tulip walked among the tall barren trunks, lemon gaze peering through them with a testy stare. Agitated and emotional she patrolled the boarders, daring someone to cross them. The women of the Cove were all worked up and irritated to the girl's best knowledge. Surely no wolf would be dumb enough to interfere with the hormonal wolves. Coming to a tree the girl stopped to rub herself against the rough bark, scratching her skin with a satisfied coo. Her movements swaying the lifeless form within her jaws.

Tulip had busied herself more than usual with hunting rabbits. She was determined to get better at it and be able to provide herself with breakfast daily. It wasn't that scavenging for food was bad or nothing, the yearling just felt the need to take her frustrations out. Turning from the boarders she took off at a dead sprint towards the heart of their territory. She moved as if a fire had been lit behind her, testing her speed and stamina all at once. She weaved when needed, but for the most part managed a rather straight trail. Finally the girl curved into the main clearing, arriving behind the den, and slowing down. She made it just in time to hear him and came trotted around into sight with an awkward, mouth full, "Ka!"

Tulip has a speech impairment that causes her to talk with a severe lisp and has selective mutism. I will not be writing her words to reflect this (outside of going mute), but ask those who roleplay with her to understand it's implied.

His plans were already set in his mind when he arrived at the communal den in search of Tulip. He would much rather teach her to fish once the ice had melted but he had no idea when that would be. Winter had lasted so long the previous year and he feared they would have a repeat. Especially since breeding season had already started and there was still snow on the ground. He'd called into the cave for the yearling hoping to find her there but no answer came and she didn't appear.

Well not immediately anyway. Instead of coming from the den she appeared from behind it saying his name. The name that she used for him and he couldn't say that he disliked it. A smile crossed his features as he noticed that she'd already been busy that morning. “Your up mighty early and you've had some luck,” he commented gesturing to the rabbit. “I thought you could spend the day with me and we could do some fishing,” he explained the reason he’d come looking for her. Of course he wasn't oblivious to the fact that her scent had changed just as the other females in the pack. He was starting to feel like he couldn't escape it.

Tulip grinned ear to ear at the comment, nodding her head proudly. If it was luck that got her the rabbit then yes, she had in deed had some luck. Catching rabbits had been one of her minor self-given tasks and she felt she was improving. Often she ate the prey just to fuel herself on for the day, not wanting to be a burden and ear up the caches. Sometimes he had leftovers and put them there, but was more likely to put in her larger scavenged items.

Fishing? What was that? The yearling's brows scrunched a little to show her confusion. Slowly she lowered her head to set the rabbit down. "Wha ishin' Ka? She asked with a nervous tone. Just what were they going to be doing. She didn't question her trust in Kajika for even a second, but her faith in her own abilities waivered.

The dark male was rather proud if the work that Tulip had been doing for the pack. The fact that she was already up and had caught a rabbit only made him feel that he'd made the right decision bringing her into the pack. He felt that everyday she proved herself more and more to he and Moonshadow. Now he was going to take her and teach her another skill that she found use to help the pack. He smiled when he saw the grin spread across her face at his words. He didn't know if she felt the same pride as he did but he felt she deserved to.

He explained to her what he had in mind and turned his amber gaze in her when she asked what it was. He had to think a moment on how to explain it to her. “You know what a fish is?” He asked her before continuing on, “Fishing is what it's called when you catch them.” He then waited to see if she understood and in the meantime he motioned with his muzzle that she should follow him as he moved toward the father that would lead to the lake.

Tulip had to think for a moment, did she know what a fish was? Old memories of the creek near the extension filtered through her mind. A brief moment with Maria by the creek making it all click...hadn't she called those little swimmy things minnows and the minnows fish? Maria wasn't really supposed to let Tulip communicate much, but Tulip had found ways to ask without asking. What Grevious didn't know couldn't...well, maybe it could hurt him.

After a moment of her own silence she replied, "Swimee hings?" before "Catch sound good." Tulip wasn't quite sure how good she'd be at this, but it was Kajika. He wouldn't laugh at her...would he? Obediently the yearling followed after the large ebony male.

After he tried to explain to Tulip about fishing he went quiet as he led her toward the lake. He wanted to give her some time to work out what he'd said so that he could make sure she understood. He also waited for any questions she might have. Kajika also felt that she would have a better understanding once they go to the lake and started the lesson. Living so close to the lake this skill would be quite helpful to the girl, if course they may need to have another lesson once the ice melted but the alpha didn't mind, he'd always enjoyed teaching.

Her voice finally caused his ear to turn toward him when she spoke of swimming things, he nodded. “Yes the swimming things. Those are fish.” She then voiced that catching them sounded good, “Perfect and this should be fun,” he said as he turned his head to smile at the girl. She was right behind him as he led the way to the lake and in no time they were exiting the trees out in to the shore of the lake.
