How lovely are the portals of the night
When stars come out to watch the daylight die

Water. She needed water. Her tongue was so dry it stuck to the roof of her mouth. She smacked her lips, her entire body screaming for the liquid. But she was so tired. The former queen laid there, like she had been for the past few days. It was hard for her to walk anymore, her emaciation to the point that her hips were protruding like daggers. Even her cheekbones stuck out, threatening to poke through her delicate skin. She bruised easier too, turning the wrong way leaving a sore spot on her side or other part of her body. In summary, everything hurt.

Her mismatched gaze stared up at the ceiling, debating whether or not she should even try and make her way down to the lake. But, with one final smack of her parched mouth she decided that she would find the energy somewhere. Slowly she rolled to her paws, jaws already open in a pant from the effort. She steadied herself, closing her eyes to summon up the willpower before she forced herself to her paws. Namid swayed and nearly lost her balance, taking another moment to ready before before shuffling out of the den.

She paused, squinting against the light. Her attention moved toward the lake, but she knew if she tried to get down to it she wouldn’t be able to get back up. So, she decided to venture to a small pond that had been etched into the earth likely from the same glacier that had formed the lake. It wasn’t big, but it was enough to quench her thirst. Perhaps a little further, but the journey there provided much easier terrain for her to navigate in her state. The Star Dancer turned and began the travel, taking an easily 45 minutes to make a 15 minute journey. She brushed past the borders as the pond was just out of their reach, mustering up all of her strength until she finally reached her destination. Once she got there, her legs gave out and she flopped onto her stomach at the water’s edge. She was breathing hard and it would be a few more minutes before she was able to compose herself enough to even take a drink.

"Mother?" He had to blink a few times to really believe it, but it had to be her. Her once shiny pale coat was dull now as her hips protruded from their sockets as she was sprawled across the forest floor. @Neha had told him it was serious and they were not sure how long she had left. They only knew it was going to be soon. His dear mother was going to die and he was gone for two years doing nothing, but off stealing and "finding himself". He missed two years of making memories with his mother. He missed her giving birth to his younger sisters and leading Fallen Tree Cove with amazing heart. He missed everything good.

Taking a tentative step closer as emotions he ran so far away from, flooded his vision as he looked upon his dying mother. He felt frozen unsure what he needed to do, but he wanted so much to run over to her and feel her warmth like he was a pup again. He missed her. He didn't realize how much, but he really did. All these years of running and now he couldn't move.
