@Treyah

In his paws was a deer antler he had found some days ago and figured it would be a decent chew toy. And chew on it he did, as he thought about the new positon he was in.

Though it had been nearly week since the shift of leadership from Kerberos to himself, Tenebrae had held off speaking to Treyah about it. He had no idea what she'd make of it. Had the other male spoken to her about it before hand? Or after? He had never brought up the possibility of being leader before, though he knew it would one day be a position he held, whether here or back in his mother's pack. And despite going over it again and again in his mind for some days, he had no idea how to bring it up to her.

So dropping the antler, the large male made his mind up to simply speak with her. It wouldn't do to just think over it forever so he lifted his head and howled out a summons for Treyah to meet with him, if she could.

Then he simply waited for her to turn up, the antler he had been chewing on before now forgotten.

The call had come as a shock, initially, and then, well not so much. She could understand the pressure kerb had been under and the desire to just give it all away. With everything that had happened was it really any surprise that he had had enough?

Her head turned towards the howl. She had been supervising @Lana and @Cannon tracking a hare through the northern edge of the Draw so it wasn't too far. They were big enough that they didn't need babysitting, so with a smile and a roll of her eyes, silent sibling speak for duty calls before she diverted her own path to align with Tennebrae's. It had been a while since they had spent time together as just the two of them.

Her tail waved at her back in greeting, oblivious to the cloud of scent that wafted in her wake when she did so... until it hit her and she stopped. "Tennebrae," She greeted the man with a playful rumble, nudging the underside of his chin with her nose before jokingly moving to drag her teeth over his muzzle. "What's up?"

For some reason, the thought Treyah might still well, smell hadn't occurred to him until it wafted by his nose. But pretending at first that he didn't notice, Tenebrae playfully growled back at her as her teeth raked over his muzzle. He moved to return a playful nip to her cheek, grateful to know she seemed somewhat okay.

"Nothing much," He answered her slowly, moving to bump shoulders with her as he complemented his next words. After a moment, he backed up stepped back a bit. "just wanted to see how you were handling...things."

Hopefully, she would pick up what he was saying and he wouldn't push if she wished to change the subject.

She managed a smirk at his implied things. There had been so much going on of late that it could have been taken many ways. "Well Maera leaving puts us in a precarious position, Kerb stepping down would have be sub-optimal if we didn't have someone capable on hand to step up and fill the spot," She didn't mind stroking his ego if it increased the chances he'd stick around, but there was still more to address, "As for this," she waved her tail with a frown of annoyance, "It should go away soon. I made arrangements, with any luck we'll have more babies to run around after. I just hope none of them go missing this time."

“We can only hope so.” He muttered in agreement, his mind going briefly back to the night he had with the older woman. Had anything come of that? Would, in a few months, a litter be born to her? The thought of at least one pup running around, with his blood flowing in its veins nearly made him smirk but he managed to refrain from it. Even if he came across that woman again and if she did have pups, there was no guarantee they’d be his. He could be in a long list of suitors for all he knew.

Huffing out a laugh at the ego stroking she did, Tenebrae rolled his eyes at her.

“You do have a pretty capable wolf watching the borders after all,” Lifting his head and puffing out his chest a little, he grinned at Treyah. “Though if they’re anything like you, there'll be trouble.” If her pups inherited any of her traits, he bet they’d be just as fond of running around like her and with as sharp of wit. It’d certainly be interesting to see little mini Treyahs running around.

“Who’s the lucky guy anyway?” The man cared little for whom the father was, seeing how Treyah had addressed it by making ‘arrangements’, so maybe she didn’t particularly care either? Who knew, Tenebrae hadn’t been hanging around her a lot as of late so she could have picked up someone. But he was lying if he didn’t say he wasn’t a little curious.
